Scent Illusion Wax Melts

Usually I remember what prompts me to order from a vendor, a blog spotlight, a friend's recommendation, a sale or news of a restock, or my own little treasure find while trolling Etsy. I cannot for the life of me, remember what set me to ordering from Scent Illusion. When the box came though, I was happy that I did!

Left to Right: Wax Brittle in Pumpkin Pecan Waffles/Sugar Cookie Bread rich, buttery and sweet, just how I like my PPW, the added sugar cookie gives a nice vanilla crunch
Clamshell in Sea Island Grapefruit sweet Ruby Red grapefruit, juicy and bright, not as tart or bitter as grapefruit can sometimes be

These two are my favorite out of the whole order so far on cold. Both are really well done and lovely!

Left to Right: Twin Scallop packs in Vermont Apple Pie mostly cinnamon with a strange plastic note, not much apple or flaky pie crust
Scallops in Blackberry Mornings pure blackberry preserves, not even a smidge of floral, very nice
Chunky muffin in Candy Cane/Pink Sugar I ordered this thinking it would be a pink peppermint type of scent, but my nose picks out strawberry the most. I am not the biggest strawberry and mint fan but it is strong and looks cute.

Free Samples in Coconut Raspberry Danish mmmmmzz, coconut, BAM! hint of raspberry sauce and flaky bakery goodness
Spiritual Awakening smells like clean clothes, a nice floral, I imagined hydrangea and lilacs but it turns out to be ylang ylang, rose, jasmine, carnation, violet and woods. Now that I know, I would say carnation is the strongest note.
Banana Marshmallow Cake a sweet, mellow gooey marshmallow and white cake with just the barest int of banana. The banana in here smells like the yummy banana milk shakes I used to get at Checkers with my Dad.
Pumpkin Pecan Waffles now that I can smell it beside the brittle blended with sugar cookie I can sense the difference, here it is less vanillic and has just a touch of dry, nutty sharpness.

Normally, I like to pop a few in the melter to see how they throw and what not, but I just have not had the chance to yet. I will do that this weekend and make a quick review of it. They do all seem really nice on cold sniff which is a good start. Have a great day!

  1. There is something about the look of grubbie tarts that I just love. My eyes immediately went to that last picture. =)

I don't know diddly about this vendor so it will be interesting to hear how these do.

    1. I like the grubbies too! They can get a little dented and smooshed but still look cute. This is my first spin with them too. I have high hopes :-)

  2. Do not succumb to the peer pressure from out of control Lolo and FragOb. The pumpkin scents are not meant to be the first ones you try . . .

    1. Good Morning Fall Slut! I was thinking Vermont Apple Pie and then blackberry mornings. I solemnly swear I will not dive into pumpkins heedlessly. Tomorrow is August dearest F.S. I hope you are gearing up!

  3. Hi Julie!! Catching up on some blog reading today, can I just say your photos blow me away?! LOVE the twinkly lights in the background of many of your shots. I think I remember hearing good things about this vendor back in the day, I'll be curious to see how they do for ya! Sea Island Grapefruit is always a fave of mine. Take care!

    1. Jacqui!!!! I hope you and your adorable pups are doing well! Thank you <3 I am having fun tinkering with the old camera. I am looking forward to melting and seeing what scent illusion is all about. If you could only order from one vendor for the rest of your life who would it be?

    2. We are all well, thank you <3 Hope you and your brood are also! Ack, just one?! That's like picking favorite children! I haven't been ordering much lately but I would have to say my top 2 are probably Rosegirls and CFTKR...CFTKR might win by a hair for the sheer fact that their wax is so easy to pop out of the warmers when it's cool. Laziness points! But I truly do love both of those vendors. I've also been enjoying Rainbow Melts and VCS lately, despite not loving either when they were newer. There's just so many good vendors out there these days! How about you?!

    3. Great top two! Definitely Hoard-if-you-get-to-order vendors. I love them both too. VCS I only tried at her very first opening. And rainbow not at all. I should remedy that! You know what? I keep waiting for a vendor to come out that makes dupes of high end or niche perfumes. Or at least similar smells. Ambers, vetiver, spices and herbs and musks. Elegant and sophisticated smells. But I guess there isn't a market for that. Folks generally don't like florals. So in the mean time I pick.... Rosegirls. I like their consistency and quality and look. Just the normal caveat of ordering.

    4. Yup, RG is most definitely one of the best of the best! VCS' wax has improved infinitely since she first came out and I've been loving a lot of her recent blends. Rainbow Melts doesn't really stock her site much but the throw on her wax is killer. It's so funny because I've actually been craving more higher end smells lately too. I've been desperate to find a dupe for SL Un Bois Vanille in wax. CFTKR has a supposed dupe but it just didn't cut it for me. I actually ordered a bunch of earthy/perfumey/floral scents from Ten Digit Creations lately and they were lovely! Gypsy Magic, Patchouli Passion and Witches Brew were some awesome spicy, earth scents. Forget Me Not, Wild Honey and Magnolia Blossom are some amazing florals she carries. They have a great selection of more unique scents that a lot vendors in our bakery/fruity focused wax world don't carry. Have you ever ordered from TDC? I highly recommend them! Lightning fast TAT too =)

    5. Mmm... I am a huge Lutens fan. Deb was just telling me about TDC so thank you for the scent recs! I am going to grab the 13 pack. Now for a vendor who can replicate Diptyque, Uncle Serge, Sonoma Scent Studio, L'Artisan, Jo Malone..... Lol we can dream!

    6. Yay! TDC definitely sounds right up your alley. Hope you enjoy them =) The only Jo Malone dupe I've found was from OLC/Wilma and was the Nectarine Honey one. It was divine! I wish I could find it elsewhere though because I do not care for her wax at all. Diptyque dupes - I wish!!!

    7. Not an OLC fan either. I would pay $5 an ounce for Diptyque Volutes wax :-o

  4. I agree with Deb, those grubbies are ridiculously eye-catching. I have had my eye on this vendor for a while now, but haven't ordered...you may be enabling once again! <3

Sea Island Grapefruit is such a fantastic scent. You got some awesome stuff in your haul! Was this all RTS?

    1. Yes it was RTS. Last time I checked there was still quite a few scent shots left. But you have been doing so good :-)
