Better Homes & Gardens and Scentsationals Wax Tarts

I shall stop bemoaning my Walmart's lack of good wax. Some good fairy must have visited recently and magically filled the aisle with the most sweetly yummy scents that I could ever wish upon a star for. I went bananas on that junk. Like level 1 hoarder, so please forgive me. It rarely happens at Walmart.

Sugared Lavender Twist- Do I even have to explain this? This sweet lavender and Pink Sugar delight that has been teasing and taunting the wax community at large? She has finally come out of hiding and darting. She is MINE!!!! The unicorn is mine! >preciousssssss<  Reviewed previously.

Sun-Lit Strawberry Patch- Strawberry candy. To the letter. I used to think Pretty In Pink was full of strawberry candy, but side-by-side I can get the heavy dose of vanilla musk that resides in PiP.

Pretty In Pink- Reviewed previously, cotton candy strawberries with vanilla musk. Flirty and fun!

Apple Blossom Freesia- Reminds me of a Bath & Body Works fragrance. Fruity floral. Pretty, youthful, spring-like.

Soft Cashmere Amber- My sister made a yucky face when she smelled this, so I might be in the minority, but this is one of my all-time Better Homes & Gardens favorites. Reviewed here.

Beachwood- I expected teakwood/ozone/so fresh and so clean clean when I saw this. Nuh uh. There is a sweet musk, and floral, and coconut thing going on in there. And maybe some other tropical fruits? It really is a morphling. The more I smell it, the more it changes. Excited to melt it!

Find any cool new scents or old favorites in Walmart recently? What are some of your favorites from Better Homes & Gardens and Scentsationals?

  1. I love this post. You know me and The Walmart Tarts. =P

I was so excited to see how well stocked my store has become with the spring/summer scents. I've been grabbing a couple here and there for myself. I bought one pack of Napa Valley Escape and am really anxious to melt that one. You don't see a lot of grape scents out there.

    1. It IS exciting to finally have a well stocked wax aisle! Do you think this will continue into fall and Christmas?! I heard Napa Valley smells like grape candy. Sounds fun! Looking forward to seeing your review of it!

    2. My store seems to get fully stocked and dwindles down to nothing for quite some time. It's like they don't main the level of inventory. So you might want to grab 'em while you see 'em.

On cold sniff, I don't get grape candy from the Napa one. It's a deeper, darker scent. I didn't even realize at first that it was grape I was trying to identify.

    3. Deeper darker sounds right up my alley! I will scout it out next trip. I was afraid it would be a grab 'em as you see 'em situation, which is why I did just that. I try not be be greedy greedy pumpkin seedy but I got what I wanted this time. :-)

    4. Two things are keeping me crazed right now every Saturday and Sunday in March: buying Angie's Lemon Drop Kettle Korn at Target (an Easter exclusive!) and hitting the wax aisle at Walmart. Right now I'm melting the very comforting Watermelon Peppercorn and Sunshine Blossom. The latter scent is reminiscent of several new Scentsational fragrances I purchased directly from the web site. Summer Meadow, much like Sunshine Blossom, is a light floral fragrance with warm wood/grass notes. I can only get this fragrance and several other favorites (Camelot, Smoked Birch, Dulce de Leche) directly from Scentsationals. But there are SO MANY great fragrances for spring available directly via Walmart: Salt Water Winds, Orchid Paradise, Brazilian Bamboo Wood and Zesty Lemon Peppercorn are just a few current favorites!

    5. You had me at Lemon Drop kettle corn. How did I miss this Friday night?! Must check it out ASAP.

Salt Water Winds does sound nice! I enjoyed Lemon Peppercorn, Deb sent me a sample of it and I liked it quite a bit. The ones you mentioned getting on the Scensationals site sound excellent. I hope they have a code again soon. There really is a great variety of unique sounding fragrances online from them. I wish the stores carried them too though (just for ease of indulgent sniffing, buying and cheaper price). Thanks Kevin for sharing your favs!!! I will be hunting them! Happy sniffing!

  2. Julie, hit the Easter candy specialty aisle at your nearest Target IMMEDIATELY! Angie's has this one and a Sugar Cookie blend (disappointing but still good, tastes like white chocolate chips in kettle corn). It tastes like Lemon Box Cookie frosting melted in globs on kettle corn. Incredible. If I was getting married, I'd demand my guests throw this stuff instead of rice and I would DROP to the sidewalk on initial impact!! Anyway, the BH&G/Scentsational selection at Walmart is ever-changing and fun to shop every time I'm in there. Always one or two new discoveries to be had. Still, if you're a true Scentsationals fan, check out their web site. I never seem to locate the clam shells with the oversized photos and some of those are my current favorites. Thanks so much for the great blog!

    1. Will do! If this was thrown at my wedding all the seagulls would have made out like bandits. I will most certainly try to get my hands on the lemon version. Not so much a fan of white chocolate.

My Walmart is normally notorious for having the worst stocked wax section in existence. On a typical day there is only cupcake and a couple fruity ones I don't care for. But all these new lovely scents poured in and I was in heaven. I have ordered online from Scensationals once before to get a warmer and OudNoir. Their large label scents do look cool.

Thank you Kevin for the sweet words.
