'Fumes: Spring Favorites

L'Artisan Seville a l'Aube- Lavender, pink pepper, lemon tree leaves, orange blossom, jasmine, magnolia, beeswax, incense, and benzoin creates quiet the list of heavy hitters, but these individual pieces bounce together playfully to create an Andy Warhol pop candy image of orange soda. It is not fizzy or effervescent but certainly a little syrupy and surprising and technicolor.

alice & peter Bloody Orange- Yes I bought this for the bottle. At LaGuardia airport, unsniffed. How can anything packaged so cute stink? The first blast of juicy dripping orange segments leads into a spiced floral and lands on caramelized musk. The sillage is medium and longevity hovers on the short side, but for sheer fun factor and the ease in which it plays with warm weather makes it a frequent sprayer in my life right now. The best part? You can get it for about $30. Good cheap fun. You should see their other cupcake bottled scents.

Chanel Chance Eau Tendre- The juice matches the aroma: a flirty delicate pink fruity-floral. A soft focus bouquet of peonies, jasmine, baby roses with a powdery suggestion and a sugar dusted apple cheek. She plays coquette, feeling young and flighty one moment and sedate and mature the next. The sillage can be loud if sprayed with abandon (which I am known to do) and the longevity extends several hours on my skin. I really do feel like this is spring harnessed in liquid form.

L'Artisan Caligna- This airy woods, tea, jasmine and fig brew is still enchanting me. In fact, it is one of Adam's favorite perfumes that I wear now. I can see it transitioning easily into summer and fall.  It still delightedly reminds me of Camelot.

Prada Infusion D'Iris- The warmer weather brings me full circle to my first 'Fumes Favorites for Summer post. Infusion D'Iris made it on that list and now reappears, much loved and missing more juice. To see more detailed thoughts on this flattering woodsy light floral read here.

What have you been wearing during this emergence from winter  and plunging into summer?

So ladies and gentlemen. My blog is almost one year old! May 28th is the date. I am gearing up for a My Favorite Things Giveaway! Some items you will have seen me gush about on here, others will be making their debut. I will be putting out teasers of what I am giving away on my Facebook page. Please go "like" it and see what is brewing. Also, follow me on Instagram for occasional impromptu giveaways and more. But be aware, it is my only IG account and will feature my babies, food, horrid throwback photos of me in 1999 in overalls and whatever else catches my fancy. Cheers!

  1. The cupcake bottle is hilarious! Bummer that the scent itself doesn't do it justice. Caligna sounds amazing, and Infusion D'Iris is always a winner.

I've had a hard time with spring scents because our weather's been all over the place. Last week it was in the 90s and this week I'm back wearing sweaters! Today I put on Bathed & Infused's Tea for Two dupe lotion. I've also been reaching for Bois d'Iris and Bergamote, both from The Different Company, and Chanel Sycomore because I'm on a little vetiver kick lately.

    1. The weather ping pong has to be frustrating indeed. But vetiver is a great compromise for both cool and warm weather! I have heard much praise for Tea for Two, I would love to smell it. I need to get some more samples soon. I don't think I have smelled anything from A Different Company either. I think that is the big appeal of Olfactif for me- forcing me to sample. I hope your weather levels out, Kate. You always inspire me to keep on sampling <3

  2. I had a full bottle of Tea for Two but it can get a little ashy smelling and heavy so I ended up selling in on ebay. The lotion is a good compromise. Both of my TDC 'fumes are samples--I don't love them enough to invest in full bottles :)

    1. Oh wow! I bet it sold nicely with the following it has. Have you sniffed SL Five o'Clock? I keep thinking I would enjoy that too. I fly through my samples. They never last long. I do have some SSS coming. Have you tried her Wood Violet? Very pretty.
