Haus of Gloi: Pumpkin Butters

These Pumpkin Butters from Haus of Gloi y'all. I ordered this trio of mini 2 ounce tubs because I love slathering it on after a shower at night right before bed and smelling delicious as I drift off to sleep. These little guys run $4.50 each and shipping was only $3.94 and included a free sample of perfume oil in Pumpkin Patch.

Depravity- Clove, nutmeg, coconut, golden amber, sandalwood and spilled wine.
Spiced wine in aged wooden barrels. Dark grape liqueur syrup and spices. It must be like what Bilbo and the dwarves smelled like when they escaped from the Woodland elves in the wine barrels.

Moon Dog- Pure cracked coconut, dry sandalwood, nutmeg and clove.
Moon Dog and Depravity have the same base notes but the absence of the wine makes a big difference. The coconut emerges, creamy and smooth and hinting at vanilla.

Peach Mama- Frankincense, styrax, copiaba balsam, labdanum, cassia, and black patchouli.
A peachy sweet resinous blend that holds so many layers in its heart that picking them apart seems daunting. The pine and incense give a cold metallic whiff of winter woods. The sweet peach is hauntingly ephemeral, like a sepia childhood memory of peach nectar on the lips and finger tips: dusty, brown and curling at the edges.

Haus of Gloi Pumpkin Butters are incredible. The shipping took a bit long but well worth the wait. I can't wait to start making these a part of my bedtime routine. Do you have any favorite indie body butters? Please share!

  1. I've heard nothing but fabulous things about these butters! I wish it wasn't so hard to catch the shop openings. My favorite indie body butter is Cocoa Pink Voluptuous Body Butter. Best formula I've ever tried; sinks in immediately, super moisturizing, no greasy residue. Plus you can get it in almost any scent you can imagine! Not indie, but I also love Trader Joe's pumpkin butter. Also great formula and the price can't be beat! I also love your photos; cute birdies in the background.

    1. Some ARE hard to catch! Thankfully Haus of Gloi (and FuturePrimitive) is not one of those. In fact, HoG is almost fully stocked with pumpkin butters other than a few Halloween ones. Cocoa Pink huh? I may need to try them! I WISH we had a Trader Joe's nearby. Maybe one day. Thank you! I was having fun with my Dollar Tree crows. :-)

  2. ohhh Moon Dog --the coconut in that! Butters are usually too thick for me but HoG's are lovely! I bet your sheets smell lovely --that might be a little weird to say out loud but I love the lingering smell of lotion on my sheets :)

    1. YES! Not weird at all!!! I totally get the scented pillow case/sheets thing. It's funny because I notice my pillow scent more when we sleep at Adam's folks or travel and I bring it. In it's natural habitat I become asnomic to it. Moon Dog is the bees knees Sunnee.

  3. Peach Mama and Depravity were two of my favorites when I was using HoG regularly. There is another wine scent called Glogg that was retired, a spicier version of Depravity, that I never tried but am curious about when it is up for resale. Haus of Gloi has had to tweak a number of blends due to indie perfume note makers going out of business (not sure why that is a thing), the wine and peach notes were changed but I haven't tried the current Peach Mama. Being a fan of indie and handmade, being adjustable helps and that is an area I could work on personally. :) things are always changing but I will always be loyal to handmade.

    1. They are really great scents. Glogg.... I math inking I may have tried that. But maybe from another vendor. Fragrances and suppliers get discontinued all the time due to regulations, costs of materials rising and all sorts of things. It has to be incredibly frustrating as an owner knowing so many single notes are disappearing or getting harder and harder to obtain. The regulations are just getting ridiculous too. So many components are now getting ruled as allergins and being pulled or phased out. I am much like you and will always support handmade though. Discovering new scents is no hardship for me! <3

  4. It's been a while since I've had Haus of Gloi pumpkin butters but I did love them at the time. I'm loving Petals Bath Boutique's body custards lately. They're thick and creamy and seem to be about the only thing that really helps my hands these days.

I would like to order some from Haus of Gloi again one of these days. It would have to be Troika, for sure. And Glogg was mentioned above. I don't know if I've had it from HoG but I love that scent! I had it from Lush years ago.

    1. A good cream is a miracle potion. Glogg type scents are so festive. They remind me of ciders and sangrias mixed. I think my mom had Lush Glogg shower gel years ago too. I keep forgetting about Petals. They were one of my first soap forays that you recommended ages ago.

    2. Yep, it was shower gel that I had too. Now I want to order it again! I don't have any fall scented body wash this year. All the cheap commercial brands are slacking this year!
