Vintage Chic Scents: Watermelon Sampler and Queenly 3-Packs

Here she is! The second order from Vintage Chic Scents March restock. I went with one sampler and a couple of 3-packs I had added to my wishlist but did not order during the first check out. I went back and they were still there so why not? Do be careful with repeat orders from VCS. The $9 shipping adds up lightening fast, so try to make it worth it.

Two Wild About Watermelon Samplers at $9.15 each (tarts weighed about 2.7-2.8 ounces each):

An Affair To Remember- I want to bite this purple rose and eat it like a treat straight out of Alice in Wonderland. Cotton candy filled watermelon candies. Fluffy, sweet, girly fun.

Freak Show- This mixture of cucumber, watermelon and mint had me a tad wary. I tend to not care for cucumber scents due to their ultra watery and slightly aloe undertones but the brightness of the mint really lifts the whole blend and sends it in the direction right to my heart. The watermelon is a slightly sweet background note that keeps this from being a strictly fresh scent. Great blend.

GG- A melange of melons. Cantaloupe, honeydew and watermelon merge in sweet mellow lovliness. Not too candy and not too aquatic.

Kirby re-branded a little while ago and I wanted to show the cute newer labels. Her 3-pack rose medallions are really the perfect amount of wax for me, at about one ounce per medallion.

Queen Anne's Lace- A sweet confection that consists of vanilla lace, blushing peaches and cotton candy. Sweet candied peaches steal the show with the vanilla lace adding a creamy musk suggestion. Love this. Yummy and summery.

Queen Mary- This scent features sea spray, salty air, sea weathered driftwood, seaberry and white musk. These all crash together like a wave to create an oceanic scent. If you have tried Cape Cod from VCS it is very similar to that scent. A wonderfully refreshing aroma that never veers into ultra clean or detergent realms. A solid, beach house fragrance.

Harry Houdini- A blueberry mojito where lime and blueberry stand out. I get that same plastic tone from the blueberry here as I did in Mrs. Lovett's Pie Shop blueberry. Again, not sure if it burns off during melting. I am a sorry excuse for a blogger and just have not had the time to test like I would like to do. At the moment it is a stretch for me to even get these posts up. This summer will be better.

Some Like It Hot- A tropical concoction of papaya, mango, pineapples and cream soda. Pineapple cream soda hits the nose first smelling very much like a Pineapple Jarrito. Or pineapples and cream. Dole Whip? It is a fun summer scent.

My VCS stash at the moment. It is nice to have some more in my wax drawers to choose from again. Which shapes of Kirby's do you enjoy the most? Will you be trying to order from her soon?

  2. Nice samplers! Love her watermelon blends, her scent names, and her cool descriptions. And her shapes! GAH! I just think I'm at the point where I'm going to stop ordering from her, though. By the time I was adding my items, they were gone out of my cart. Gone are the days where I'm interested in competing for tarts. Plus, $9 shipping is steep.

    1. I enjoy the shapes and branding too! But yes, I can see how the manic rush, cart jacking and shenanigans are becoming more hassle than fun. I really have to be in the mood to hustle for wax now. Apparently I was in the mood at the right time. If you want any of these hollar! Miss ya!

  3. Her stuff always looks so pristine. That's one of the things I like. I know, it all just melts into a puddle anyway...but when it's all clean and precise and easy to handle, no crumbles or smeared bags, etc.... It's just nice.

One of these days I'll have to try ordering again.

    1. It really does. It ships nicely and comes out looking clean. A real joy to photograph with hardly any clean up.

If any of these pique your interest let me know! <3

    2. Freak Show and An Affair To Remember both caught my eye because I seem to be on a watermelon kick lately. I was chopping up my SF sampler yesterday the watermelon one in there had me going back for extra sniffs. lol

    3. I'll definitely set aside Affair to Remember but Freak Show I think I am out of. I melted one and gifted one to my sister. But there was one more watermelon and I will set that aside too! Watermelon really is hitting the spot for me right now too. Did you end up melting any of your SF watermelon?

    4. Not yet. I started with the blueberry one. Blueberry? I can't remember offhand. LOL I might grab a chunk of that watermelon today though. It's rainy and dreary and I'm feeling funky-blah.

    5. We are in the same boat then. Scarlette has been puking since 1am. Poor thing has nothing left but keeps retching. I hate seeing her so miserable. So I am bleh and tired and taking off work. Might have to melt something perky in my bedroom. I am putting GG and Ice Palace Cookies in the box. I think you might like that one. Interested to hear what you pick up in it.

    6. Ugh, I do *not* miss those days. My kids would usually wait too long to mention they felt sick and, yeah, mess everywhere. Gah!

      Hope she feels better soon.

  4. I love Kirby's wax. This and the Sweeney's sampler were the two I wanted to snag, but I worked all day and didn't check Facebook. Glad you snagged some, bet they smell amazing!

  5. I have recently just fallen head over heels in love with VCS. I am still trying to pinpoint exactly what has caused it, but I think it's the complexity of the scent blends, the classy way her wax looks and how the scents somehow always match her scent descriptions. I have been very frustrated with a few of my other favorite vendors as of late because the wax has either come completely unlike the scent I was expecting from the scent description or its all come smelling barely distigusihable from each other because of the mild scent throw. Kirby's wax always gives me a great scent throw and smells exactly how I was expecting it to. I dreamt my entire childhood ( and still do at times) of being the resident color namer of all the new crayons and paint colors in the world! Kirby has a knack for coming up with these great themes and names for her scents that have me so intrigued right now. I printed out the scent list and just sit here and look through it amazed. I got trampled the first three times I tried to order anything. I was so upset. I finally made my first order a few weeks ago. The only wax I had before then was sent to me by my generous friends. So, my stash is small but I love all of it and I am ready to fight this restock! Ha ha! I have two of my friends who are on wax bans who will also be ordering from my wish list in case I happen to get myself trampled over again. Between the three of us I hope to come out with a more substantial addition to my small collection! I enjoyed your post and look forward to more!

    1. Hi Jane! Nice to meet you! I agree. Kirby has the scent blends, names and design down pat. I am glad you found a vendor you can rely on and I hope you get EVERYTHING on your wish list this next opening! I love that there are great vendors out there that fit each person and what they are looking for in wax. I feel the way you do about Lasting Scent Candles and The Bathing Garden. <3

I love that you dreamed about being a crayon color namer!!! I often feel that way about scent describers or make up namers. I would love to have s job like that. If I could get paid to write descriptions for BBW or Yankee candles I would be in heaven. So the next closest thing is this blog. If you don't mind me asking, what vendors are you struggling with right now?

Having friends group order or be on the look out for openings is definitely the way to go. My blog friends have helped me countless times to order in the past. The sad thing is most are leaving/have left wax so I only have a couple who are still into it with me.
