The Mom's Getaway Weekend changed from a yoga hostel in St. Augustine (it was booked already) to a single story hotel/motel on the north end of Clearwater Beach. At this point, my two friends and I did not even care where we went, as long as we got to hang out and relax a bit.

Clearwater Beach is one of the beaches of my childhood and I had not been back there in a very long time. I swear the sand is some of the softest out there, like fine grain sugar. The weather was chaotic like normal but we did manage to bask in the sun for a few hours one morning.

Saturday, though windy and cloudy and threatening with rain, gifted us the honor of watching a few weddings taking place up and down the beach. The little crowd of people on the left, the bride in white and the groom in teal shirt and khaki shorts, was one of them.

Still plugging along on my journey. I have a doctor's appointment today and I hope to somehow reach an agreement on how to treat my ovarian cysts that does not involve birth control. I feel a huge book hangover coming on... I have blown through 8 books in the Kate Daniels series and I am half way done with book 9. I hear there will be one last book coming out soon-ish.

Any recommendations on my next read? If you could take a mini getaway for one night, where would you go?

  1. Ooh, those stormy skies - there's the Florida I know! I'm not much of a beach-lounger or swimmer (yikes, sharks and other things that want to eat me!) but I'd love to walk along that beach with those thunderclouds overhead - so lovely. And I have been there; stayed right in one of the beach hotels when I was a kid. On a walk (during a stormy evening, actually) my mom found two long dead nurse sharks that had washed up on shore at some point, shrieked bloody murder like the sharks had come to life and were munching on her legs that very second, and then proceeded to re-beat them to death with a hunk of driftwood while my dad and I guffawed like a couple of idiots. Good times. :) Glad to hear you're enjoying your summer so far.

    1. Yep! Those afternoon thundershowers are in full effect. We love swimming the gulf but it is definitely not without hazards. My sister got a stingray barb in her foot last summer and she said it hurt pretty darn bad.

Awwww! Poor nurse sharks!!! They are so sweet and docile!! They are Savanna' favorite shark. At least your mom sent them off with a few laughs in the frenzy of terror. I bet it was a crazy sight. LOL!

  2. Just one night is not enough for my Germany trip so I guess I'll just stay home. :P

Your next read should be The Outsiders.

    1. Yeah, one night would be a tease. What would be your ideal yet doable length of time for a trip to Germany?

Yes! The Outsiders! I do want to read it.

    2. We were there nearly three weeks (18 days, I think) and we were absolutely ready to come home before the end of it. I think though, that because we went with no plans or expectations, and we were just sort of on our own (no tours or package deals or anything) that we just got frustrated and bored. Ours was more of a kick back and experience German life while staying with family than a true sightseeing trip. If there is ever a next time, it will be totally opposite. We're taking tours and being 110% touristy.

    3. I love being touristy sometimes. Heck, I even do that in my home area or Tampa and Orlando. I am not much for crowds but I love new experiences. I think 18 days to bop around Germany (and maybe other parts of Europe) would be amazing.
