Made By Anisa Pottery

Made By Anisa is pretty popular for her cauldron mugs. I was hoping to get one at her last update but they were all sold out and then I laid eyes on this planter and knew it would be perfect for my budding succulent hobby.

The drippy multi-hued glaze is having quite a moment among potters and I must say I am loving it. This one runs the gamut of magenta and purple to navy and vibrant aqua and sky blue. The inside holds as much or more treasure as the outside. Kinda like people. <3

The rough, fine sandpaper texture and matte clay appeals to me. I love the dappled coloring of copper and orange and dark brown, plus juxtaposed against the glossy jewel-like glaze and it makes a statement.

It says "buy me."

The bottom is raised a touch and the artist, Anisa, signed and dated it.

Now it houses some aloe babies that have sprung from a gift a dear friend gave me before she moved to Arizona. The original aloe is huge and thriving and in the past few months has sent out runners of babies that I have been digging up and replanting. I hope to bring some indoors eventually. For now they live on the porch.

Do you enjoy planting? Succulents are having a moment aren't they? Do you have any favorites?

  1. I'd never had any interest in succulents until recently. You're right, they certainly do seem to be having their moment. I'd like to get some because they 'seem' so easy to have. Are they? I always see them small, in cute little pots with moss or stones. I'm always like, 'Do they just stay small and cute looking? I can handle that!'

A bunch of companies put out succulent themed stamp sets this year too!

    1. Oh duh, forgot to even mention the little pot! It's gorgeous!! I was just browsing her site and drooling over all the things. I'd be afraid to actually use the pieces, afraid I'd chip or break them!

    2. I can only tell you this... I normally kill any plant that crosses my path with alacrity, but I have been able to not only keep my succulents alive, but also propagating. I am having a blast growing them and have tons all around my patio. There is a succulent farm near Orlando I am itching to check out soon. The can grow a little bigger but most of mine have stayed relatively small.

Succulent stamps would be adorable. I am loving cactus things too.

A mug from her would be flipping amazing! I hope I can snag one one day.

  2. The inside glaze is downright hypnotic, I don't think I could cover it with a plant. Like Deb, I wouldn't trust myself to not break it, the glazed drips almost beg to be chipped off and I'd be tempted to do it. I like the mixed material effect but I think it looks better on the pots than the cauldron mugs.

I almost always check out the potters behind your pieces and it sends one down the rabbit hole of handmade wares. Recently, I started following the makers who the other makers follow, which becomes a rabbit warren. Long story short, I got a teensy little ceramic piece that I'm excited about. Hope to photo it this weekend and share sometime soonish. As for succulents, my sis has some cute ones and I should probably try them. I cannot keep a houseplant alive, even my Christmas cactus is a sad sight:(

    1. I am right there with you on the rabbit hole of artists and creators. People are so talented. It blows me away. And like you, I often look and see who is following who and hop over to the next obsession. I finally got my hot hands on an Ox and Otter mug and I am stoked to get it. There are a ton of potters I am still wanting to add to my collection though. It is easy right now, because for every new mug I get I will donate one of my non-pottery mugs. But soon I will run out and then have to make space. Honestly though, they are so hard for me to get that I really don't get them at a fast rate.

I cannot wait to see your purchase! It sounds adorable. My Christmas cactus used to be poorly too but my father-in-law told me they need more water than a normal succulent and since then they have been thriving.

  3. Ooh, that is lovely - I adore that iridescent blue glaze that morphs into the vampy purple drips on the exterior. It really reminds me of multi-chrome nail polishes - so wonderful! Enjoy your gorgeous acquisition, although I've no idea if I'd be able to use it - too beautiful. Maybe just a stare-at item - that's a thing, right?!

    1. The colors are nice and vivid! It did remind me of some of your water marble manicures.

Oh no! A stare-at-item?! I do have a couple of those but this will certainly get its use. It might always be an aloe in there but there will be a plant in there for sure. :-)
