Nautical Nerd: Redbubble Hagrid's Hut Phone Case

Redbubble is much like Society6 in that people submit artwork and it can be placed on anything from shirts to phone cases, pillows to mugs. I usually buy Adam's Top Gear shirts from Redbubble each year but I did see that they were having a phone case sale and I was desperately in need of a new one.

I have a thing for Hagrid's hut. I imagine sipping a cup of too strong Earl Grey perched on a too tall knotty pine chair backed with a thread bare quilt, sitting at Hagrid's table while he enthralls me with tales of his wild magical beast encounters. There is a smoking peat fire in the hearth and rustic candles and lanterns flickering about the room like oversized fire flies. Pumpkins lie like fat boulders around his garden. I want to be there. I want to visit my birthday twin.

This rainy day portrait of Hagrid's hut fit the bill. This tough version of the case is $30 and includes a rubberized inner core. It does not have a screen protector which concerns me and my clumsy ways... but I will give it a go. It is a simple case with no flaps for the charging port, volume or ear bud port like my last tough case from Society6. I hope they add a slightly "tougher" version at Redbubble. I have had this case for about two weeks now and no scuffing or nicks so far.

What kind of phone cases do you go for?

  1. That looks so cool. Will you use it till you demolish it (hehe) or only during the pumpkin season?

I have a thick, bulky, durable Minnesota Vikings case that I use during football season. I got it from Ty a few years ago at Christmas. The rest of the year I have a much more lightweight one from Dollar Tree that's still holding up.

    1. Thanks! My other Harry Potter and Hagrid one lasted me a LONG time. About two years I think? But the flaps started ripping off and the edges were scuffed and scraped from all the falls and accidents I had with it. But it protected my phone.

Go Vikings! Happy to hear your Dollar Tree ones are doing the job well! Gotta love that!

  2. The clear plastic skin I bought from the website at the same time I bought the phone. Colour me cheap, (you'd be right, but I prefer the term selective) but I don't spend any time looking at the back of my phone.Redbubble and others don't make cases that fit my phone (a Pixel) and I wouldn't be found dead with an Apple device in my possession. Ultimately, I can identify my phone by it's plainness and thats all right by me.

    1. Well, damn. I guess two strikes against me for being an Apple user and for being a back of the phone gazer. I don't know what a Pixel is but glad you like yours and plain is nice. Like vanilla ice cream.

  3. Throw the strikes away and get out the vanilla ice cream. You can put anything you want on it and make it your own. A worthy project for your next Crafternoon. A Pixel is an Android phone too new and sparsely distibuted (I assume) to make it worthwhile to make those covers for.
That being said, I am still too cheap to buy a second phone cover even if there were a wide selection.

  4. That case is adorable! I have an LG android phone so sadly don't have quite the array of cute cases to choose from.

Is Hagrid your birthday twin?? Harry/JK Rowling is mine :D

    1. Thanks Kate!! I am sorry there aren't many cases for your phone. :-(

Hagrid is!! December 6th is our birthday. And how cool! JK is so cool! I love that you share a birthday with her AND Harry! Harry was born July 31st, 1980 right? My husband is July 30th, 1981. I think it is kinda cool. I hope you had a nice birthday this year.

  5. Oh, that's so pretty - excellent choice of the rainy day scene; Hagrid's hut looks so atmospheric.

I could never, though, with a hard case. I'd have destroyed my phone within seconds. My case is this ultra rubberized thing that actually bounces if you drop it - Griffin Tech stuff, if you've ever heard of them? It's not super attractive (neon pink and turquoise!) but it gets the safety job done.

    1. Thanks! I did a bit of searching to spot this one but I love it.

Yeah... it was a bit of a gamble given my clumsy ways. I may still get a more durable rubberized case for day to day use but this one is purely for smile generating. Getting the job done items are often necessary. <3
