Scrimshaw Pottery: Skull Mug

I featured Ben's incredibly detailed artwork and pottery back in November when I ordered a scrimshaw inspired pirate ship and kraken mug from Scrimshaw Pottery. I love that mug.

Ben recently came out with this tough looking scrimshaw mug design and the first time my eyes laid upon it, they lit up with hearts and this became the booty which my nautical heart desired.

Since my November order I quickly discovered that knowledge of Ben's talent had spread and ordering was no longer a leisurely stroll about his Etsy shop. I missed his first several skull mug sales, which made me become more determined. I followed him more closely on IG and set my alarm for his next opening and pounced on the first teal skull mug I set eyes on. Ain't she a beaut?!

I love the drippy back edged in white. Very reminiscent of aqua waves lapping at a black sand shore.

This mug is a fierce way to start out a morning.

I have been enjoying watching Ben create his mystical wizard by the sea and raging vikings on the water artworks, both subjects I appreciate. I hope he makes them for sale in the future. What is on your favorite coffee or tea mug?

    1. LOL! Pirates is such a great ride though! It has been WAY too long since I have been to the Magic Kingdom. I think I am being derelict in my parenting duties by not taking my girls there in so long. The magic is even more potent when they are young. We do manage to hit up EPCOT fairly frequently though... I love that park. We are moving to Orlando in the future and were looking around Celebration just for kicks but oh my goodness... are the prices ever so high. A simple two bedroom house starts at over $300K. I remember doing a research paper on Celebration when I was in high school. It was what Walt Disney meant EPCOT to be. Kinda neat.

  3. As a scent aficionado, I'd think you'd appreciate that Pirates scent most of all - you know, that Pirates scent? It's quite particular, and I'm not even sure how to describe it aside from realistically fake! :)

I had no idea you were moving to Orlando! That's wonderful (is it wonderful? I hope it's wonderful and you're moving for good, positive reasons.) I remember going to Celebration with my parents a few months after it opened (launched?) and I was so blown away by the community even then - it was incredible. I had an apartment on Main Street above a bakery all picked out. Very cool about your research paper, and coolest about EPCOT. I like that it became Celebration as it is now - a very attractive community filled with pretty, Colonial-inspired houses instead of that weird Tomorrowland chic look that EPCOT has going on.

    1. YES!!! The smoke, the chlorine, the magic of it all?? I love the Pirates ride at Disney. It has been years and years since I have been to the Magic Kingdom. So very long.

It is wonderful! I wasn't sure how we would like it but it has turned out to be the best of everything... we are out in the "country" still in Apopka with some land and quite but then close enough to explore and eat at all the fun places Orlando has to offer. I have a whole list of coffee shops, parks, restaurants, shops and things I want to see and do. Celebration is a neat place. We looked there VERY BRIEFLY for homes and quickly realized it was way outside of our budget. But it never hurts to dream a bit right? I could totally see being in a cute apartment over a bakery. That would be the life. :-)
