Anticipating Autumn....

If there is one thing I have learned in the wax world over the past year... it is to sometimes purchase a season ahead. Some excellent vendors have long turn around times. When SMT opened March 31st, I made sure to throw in a few fall and winter scents. I knew I would be late in the line up having ordered at 7am in the morning when they opened up for orders the night before; this would put my order at arriving any time in August or September. With all this in mind I have been building a small fall scent pile, squirreling them away like nuts for the winter. Oh... and I am a planner. Big time.

Here are some of my favorites on cold sniff....

RG Pumpkin Pecan Waffles large cookie, RG Celtic Moonspice piped heart, RG Ooey Gooey Caramel/Marshmallow Smoothie/Celtic Moonspice muffin, and RG Pecan Waffle Fluff Puffs previously reviewed.

RG Ooey Gooey Caramel/Butterbrickle/Dunk My Donut- This was a gift by a special waxy lady and I am still over the moon, sniffing it all the time. Heavy duty cinnamon bakery with a rich deep almost burnt sugar underpinning.

RG Cinnamon Glazed Oranges- This chunk reminds me of the delicious and gorgeous pomanders families sometimes make during the holidays... creating a design in oranges by poking whole cloves into the juicy skin. But these pomanders are sparkling with a dusting of cinnamon sugar and crushed Red Hots.

CFTKR Apple Cinnamon Donuts & Glazed Cinnamon Donut- (two seperate scents) Apple Cinnamon Donut reminds me of those fried apples you get as a side at Cracker Barrel. Really sweet and heavy on the apple. I do not get a pastry note on cold but that may change with warming, especially since it is paraffin. Glazed Cinnamon Donut is light on the spice and cozy. I might even melt these soon.

CFTKR Wood Violets and Sugar Maple- This large violet rose shaped tart is beautiful. If there ever was a fall floral this would be it. These violets are growing in an autumnal forest near a tiny cabin where a wood burning stove is lit and fueled by nearby maple trees. No syrup. All rustic.

iheartwax Apple Butterscotch Cake/Cider Lane/Maple Suagr Candy- These chunks smell like Cider Lane magnified. Creamy caramel drizzeled apple spice cake. I hope this translates just as well when warmed.

SMT Sticky Marshmallow/Apple Cider Latte- These are the cutest "marshmallows" dipped in apple cider latte. When I got these in my first Mystery Bag I was blown away. I do not get any type of coffee at all, but I do not mind. This is juicy, bright, just baked whole apples sprinkled with the barest hint of spices and sugar.

SMT Pumpkin Marshmallow Latte/Pumpkin and Praline/Marshmallow Noel- The coffee is here! In this one! If Starbucks made their Pumpkin Spice Latte without all the spice, this would be it. Nothing but creamy, creamy pumpkin latte. Just a hint of buttery pecan from the praline.

Daphne's Cider Lane and Leaves- Yes, yes I know she is closed... but... still. Honestly, her dupes of Leaves and Cider Lane have been my favs. I had a clamshell once, back in the day, of leaves and caramel apple that she had layered and I loved it to pieces.

I am looking forward to my few SMT holiday blends and scents (Pumpkin Pecan Waffle, North Woods Christmas, Frosty Pine, Fallen Leaves and especially pumpkin and praline/caramel cookies/celtic moonspice blend). Are you a seasonal or year 'round melter? What determines which scent types you buy?

  1. I'm very much a seasonal melter and fall/winter scents are by far my favorites. The past few years I've always had leftovers from the previous fall/winter, so I base what I buy on what I already have. I love to see what BH&G/Scentsationals has to offer, and then I fill up with favorite scents from favorite vendors in whatever area I'm lacking in.

This year might be different though. I'm anxious to get oodles of different fall/winter scents from Rosegirls this time!

    1. I am with you on that! Last year most of my fall goodies came from Sweet Fixations and Front Porch (I had the most divine loaf in pumpkin eggnog bread). I did not have any leftovers but I might this year. And I don't mind one bit.

    2. Sweet Fixations has been my go-to source for fall/winter scents. I haven't ordered from her for quite some time now, kinda getting an urge to! I might sneak a small order because she has a couple of my must-haves.

(But that goes against my Rosegirls exclusive plan. LOL)
