The Last Box from Turkey

Yeah. How awesome is this mug? Pretty awesome. One of my closest friends moved to Turkey two years ago as part of the Air Force life with her husband and handsome lil boy. We had fun sending boxes of goodies back and forth and I recently received my last box from Turkey. Excitedly, the next round of box swaps will be between the US and Japan.

In case you are unsure, the mug is a reference to Outlander. <3 Just in case. You know. >shrug< Gotta have my nerdiness explained.

There are a few Turkish treats I will miss and one is apple tea. I really enjoying mixing this with green tea and honey. It provides a refreshing alternative to juice.

These taste like Nutella. Nutella seriously needs to consider repackaging to these squirt tubes. Then I can squeeze all that chocolate goodness RIGHT into my mouth and not bother dirtying a spoon. Or using my finger. That is just gross and unsanitary. I would never use my finger. Ew. >Runs to pantry and swirls around Nutella so no one can see finger swipes<   Ooo!  >Opens fridge and repeats process with Cool Whip tub< All better.

The other amazing thing I discovered from Ashley's wondrous Turkish gifts was Happy Hippos. Kinder (a German chocolate company I believe) makes these deadly delicious crispy wafer hippo shapes that have crunchy chocolate bits on the bottom and white cream and chocolate cream filling inside. I would have had a photo shoot with them but honestly, she gave me 6: one I gave to Adam to try, four I ate right then, the last I thought "I better take a picture of this last one." After this photo, I opened it. And promptly ate it.

I am so very thankful to have been able to try other cool ethnic foods. Are there any foreign treats you have come to love and wish you had better access to?

  2. This is funny. We've been talking about Ritter Sport chocolate over on Facebook, and now you mention Kinder. We enjoyed both while we were in Germany.

And how fun to get such goodies. Japanese goodies should be interesting indeed!

    1. Ritter is good! They have those at Target and our local candy store. I am really close to trying to get those hippos online. Kinder has really creamy sweet chocolate. Were there other German treats you liked?

    2. Those are the only two I remember, and I hadn't even remembered the Kinder until you mentioned it. We did have this orange-root beer soda that sounds gross but was surprisingly good. No clue what the brand was though.

  4. Nutella, in a squeeze tube you say? I've stared it it for five minutes and still see kids toothpaste. Hazelnut toothpaste then. :)
I love the color of that mug so much.
How exciting that Japan is next!

    2. Lol! Old brown teeth. The cavity makers. Yes it does look like toothpaste. I am sure pics if me squeezing it out of the tube won't look too appetizing so I will leave it to your imaginations....
