Lush Life: Northern Light Bath Bomb

Northern Lights Bath Bomb found its way to me via Santa. Adam really is pretty awesome at picking out Christmas gifts. This bath bomb fragrance duplicates Lush's popular Christmas Eve bubble bar scent of jasmine sweetened with ylang-ylang. Unfortunately, I found the scent to be rather light. I would have preferred it to be much more strong.

The colorful display entertained me for a bit. The cylinder lazily wobbled about the tub leaving a colorful stream in its tiny wake. Fushia, purple and magenta came first, followed by aqua and a lime yellow that left behind floating stars. There was a pink ring left around my tub with this bar but nothing a bit of rubbing didn't remove before I exited stage left. Overall, I would buy this one again if it came out, hoping it would be a bit stronger this year.

How are your reading goals coming along? I finished up the second book, Fool Moon, in the Harry Dresden series by Jim Butcher. Harry is Chicago's only P.I. wizard for hire and finds himself in dire straits more often than not. The first in the series is Storm Front. The writing is very conversational, pithy and punny. It makes for a quick, funny read, and does not take itself seriously at all. There are several in the series but I do not plan on reading them back-to-back. Apparently Sci-Fi did a one off season of the show, trying to make one episode out of each book.

Currently, my eyes feast upon Blue Lily, Lily Blue the third book in the Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater. What are you reading or watching?

  1. I just started reading Percy Jackson. Finally! I'm so late for that party, I know. And I think I might have stumbled across why I'm hating all the books I try to read lately. That's an upcoming Natters post for me.

As for what I'm watching, I'm getting swamped now that all our shows are starting to return. Hubby and I watch Gotham and Sleepy Hollow on Mondays, Suits on Wednesdays, and now tonight Vikings will be returning for its third season. Woot! Oh, and I always have episodes of Snapped recorded. Love me some Snapped! Plus hubby has a million shows of his own that he watches.

    1. I LOVE Percy Jackson! In fact I need to reread the series and pick up where I left off forever ago. Hope you are liking it. Looking forward to that Natters post.

Swamped with good shows is a fun problem! Adam and I only have the new BBC Top Gear on Mondays. Although new Broadchurch comes out soon! Sleepy Hallow. Must needs watch.

  2. That sounds like a lovely bath bomb! I tried to look for Christmas Eve when I'd visited the store, but it was out. Of course.
The books I've read this year are all three of the Gallaghers of Ardmore trilogy by Nora Roberts. I've read some of her earlier works and it was pleasant enough, and Michael insisted on buying the trilogy for me so I read it to appease him. The writing is really simplistic and hard to follow in a believability sense. I didn't find myself invested in any of the relationships of the trilogy and I wasn't buying this whole 'magic soulmate' business.
As for watching.... ehh... we don't have cable and we have no plans to get it. We'll watch whatever fits our fancy on Netflix (reruns of Scrubs, anyone?). Besides that I'll watch a lot of Rooster Teeth stuff on YouTube.

    1. I had Christmas Eve gifted and I loved it! I hope we can both nab some next Christmas :-)

Nora Roberts. I have tons of her books but I can't seem to wasn't to read them. I always reach for something else! Soul mates. Bah. I agree.

Scrubs!!! So funny! Love that show too Liz. I can see just having Netflix and internet too but my hubs would never go for that. He asks for so little I could never dream of requesting him to sacrifice TV. :-) Rooster Teeth?! Gotta Goigle that. Hopefully it is nothing like Creepy Pasta...

      Have a great week Liz!!

    2. Rooster Teeth is a um..... mature language, potty humor type group of people that do a wide variety of content. They got their first big hit by making Red Vs. Blue, a machinima based off Halo. Then they just.... expanded. I like their Achievement Hunter group who do lots of Lets Plays in various video games. It helps me decide if I want the game or not.
They also have a very toned down channel that's intended to be family friendly called Game Kids, where various kids of employees do Lets Plays with their parents. It's really cute :)

  3. So fun! Do your girls ever want to watch the evolution of the bath bombs before you shoo them out of the bathroom?
I was hoping to find the unicorn bath bomb last Christmas season but I came up short.

I'm in a serious reading drought. I need to snap out of it. I'm just one good book away .... :)
    Have a great weekend Julie!

    1. They get to enjoy them every now and then but yes, they love to watch! I had that ding dang unicorn horn in my hand and walked away. Dern moments of willpower :-/ Regret.

One good book away in deed!! I hope you crack one open soon!

  5. That bath bomb is gorgeous! I read the first Harry Dresden about a month ago and really enjoyed it, but have been putting off picking up the next one til I get through a couple other need-to-finishes. Too many books and tv shows!

I'm hit or miss with straight-up oud perfume, but one of my all-time top scents is 10 Corso Como, which has an almost gassy hit of oud right off the bat before it settles down (sounds delightful, doesnt't it? LOL).

    1. I am ridiculously excited that your read the Dresden book!! Isn't he a character? I enjoy Bob the skull too.

Gassy. YEA. The one Oudh centered perfume I have does have a fecal tinge. Gah. But I am such a sicko. I try to not wear it in public. Lol I really wanna hear your Top Ten list Kate. Your perfume tastes are exciting! Corso Como? Writing down for my next Surrender to Chance purchase.

  7. It's sooo pretty!! We must have a Lush trip soon!! :-)

Let's see, shows - I've been binge-ing on a lot of Parks & Recreation lately since the series finale is coming up. It's one of my fave sitcoms.

Books - I recently finished started a new to me series about a female medium/ghostbuster (it's fictional) by Victoria Laurie. I like it so far, it's entertaining.

I need to watch that show. I love Amy Poehler.

New series! Your post about the steampunk series really piqued my interest. I need some new good books. Will you be at church next Sunday? I can return Blue Lily.

  8. -- The show can get silly at times, but I love it! Amy Poehler is awesome!

Not sure if we'll be at church Sunday, Craig has to work & we'll be recovering from Hayley's birthday festivities (& her BFF is spending the night) :-)
