Basin at Downtown Disney

Downtown Disney in Orlando is going through an awkward restructuring to become a destination called Disney Springs. Gone is Pleasure Island and a lot of the clubs we all used to frequent. Disney is moving more towards an old Florida resort style. After all is said and done it should look amazing, but right now parking is hectic, construction is rampant and the place is disjointed.

We still went anyway recently to get out of town and meet up with some friends for dinner at the T-Rex Restaurant. I like to stop in Basin when we make the trip. Basin carries a nice array of bath goodies: bath bombs, soaps, scrubs, bath salts, lotions, lip balms and other bathing paraphernalia.

I ended up picking out the Mickey bath bomb for $4.49 (the scent is a little too sweet and cloying for me but I just want tons of Mickey shapes floating about me) and a tube of Bath Bomb Marbles for $6.00, three in lavender and three in snow musk. Or something like that. The minis are for a gift.

I used the Mickey bath bomb and it smelled -ok- but I would not buy it again. A little too candy sweet with a strange floral undertone. The Mickey shapes were fun to have floating about in the tub but not at that price point or scent. I think next time I will grab some bath salts.

What are some fun places you like to visit for an exciting day or evening of shopping and food?

    1. If you ever come to Disney World you should stop by! The other bathbomb scents are much better. I was just being "Goofy" getting that Mickey one. There are other new Florida soaps and treats in kiosks around the area too. I am looking forward to hanging out there more often once Disney Springs is completed.

    2. I definitely will! Just got to convince myself to drive for a few days. ;) I see that it's offered in some non-official stores online, but at almost $10/chunk of soap it's a bit much. I've reached out to their PR department, maybe I can find out more there! Thanks again for letting me know about this, love the Goofy pun. ;)

  2. Did you have Fruits & Passion stores in Florida in the 90s? The pictures of the glycerin soap with the embeds reminded me of that chain. I think that was my first handcrafted soap.

    1. You know I am not sure. We didn't in our local mall that I can remember. But it sounds like a store my mom and I would have frequented if we had. That is cool you can remember your first soap like that. I remember loving The Body Shop White Musk like no one's business back then. Mmmmmmm

  3. I didn't know there was a bath shop at downtown Disney! I saw a small shop in the Grand Floridian hitel at Christmas (we went to see the gingerbread house). We haven't been to Downtown Disney in awhile though -- the craziness of construction & little parking are deterrents for us! We get over there & see the craziness & change our minds!! We end up browsing the hotels instead! :)

    1. It is in the Marketplace area in the back between the huge Disney store and Ghiradelli Icecream shop. The parking garage has made it easier but it is still chaotic with construction. I want to check out the Grand Floridian now!
