5 Sisters Crafternoon 2015

Even though my sisters and I all live relatively close together, with work, college, new marriages, and working night shifts, we do not always get to connect as a unit. Thankfully, last year began our annual tradition of making a fall craft with fellowship. This year my sister Darby hosted and she did a beautiful job.

We ate arancini, French macarons, owl brownies, apple tartlets, and drank homemade apple cider.

There was plenty of inappropriate conversation, hoarse laughter, and eyebrows shooting up into our hairlines.

Can I tell you how amazing pumpkin spiced French macarons are? Very amazing.

Our craft project involved creating a wooden pumpkin sign. Darby supplied a vast array of embellishments and fabric and paper.

Our finished products. They all turned out so cute and were very simple to make. Honestly though, the craft is just a perk and something to look upon while remembering the time we all spent together.

So much happens in a year. One sister started school to be a teacher, another is in a graduate program for Entomology, one sister started nursing school and first-time house hunting, and another is expecting her first child. I am going to be an aunt!!!! I just know this year will bring many more blessings and changes that will be evident at our next gathering. We are desperately trying not to let it be a whole 'nother year.

Have you got the fall craft bug? What are you making or wanting to make? Do you have a fall tradition you are looking forward to?

  1. How fun! All the pumpkins look great. Well done, ladies!

I do have a fall craft bug but I'm not much of a crafty person. Well, I want to be and I could be, but the thing that stops me is 'What am I going to do with all that?' (the millions of things I'd like to make) I was staring at my stickers and washi tapes just this morning, wondering what on earth I could do with them since all my other plans fizzled.....and then a new idea hit me! I'm super excited, and you'll hopefully see it on the blog soon. Well, if I don't end up rage quitting again.

  2. Gah! I WISH I was a crafty person! It comes in spurts. One random day I'll be like "I'm gonna spend the day painting!" and I'll do it and then not again for a year or so. I decorate my planner and that suffices for now lol. Those pumpkins sure are purdy though!

    1. Thank you. There were definitely many bumps along the path of sisterhood but forgiveness and grace certainly overcome many obstacles. I hope 2016 will be an amazing year for all of us but especially you Sunnee.

    1. Me too. We weren't close for many years, in fact I found out one got married through a friend. But once we all reached out to each other and spoke about things, we grew close. Family is very important and sometimes talking about hurt feelings can be a huge step towards reconciliation and healing. I hope we can be transparent and close for many many years.

      The cider was Jam Up!
