Enjoying:
Meeting my new niece. It is so much fun being an aunt.
Fumble:
I bought that ding dang Candle-Aire warmer that many are raving about only to not know that I needed to buy the tin too so I could melt. On top of that... it is a beast and the size of a sauce pan. I am almost ready to give it away before I even try it. Gah.

Haus of Gloi Moon Dog Pumpkin Butter, puts a grin on my face before I go to bed at night, soft smoldering skin.
Miss:
Blinc mascara. Thin, liquid, messy nightmare. Immediate toss.
Low:
Not meeting some goals I have set for myself. I am not going to dwell on it but I will keep setting them and not give up. Hopefully soon I will want it bad enough that I will bite the bit and move forward.
High:
Spring Break. I made a quilt, met my niece, took the girls to the beach, did a photoshoot with them, enjoyed seeing my husband all day, went to a Quilting Expo, binge watched Vikings and X-Files and had a nice Easter.
How was your March? Any magic? Highs? Lows? Did you fall in love with something? Please share.
It sounds like you had a great March! I'm glad you got to experience so much for Spring Break! I loved looking at the pictures you shared. <3
ReplyDeleteI was wary of that Candle-Aire warmer because of the necessity for their special shaped tins. Now you have the issue with them no longer providing sellers with the empty tins starting in May and forcing customers to use their very mediocre wax tins that sell for $9 a pop. The concept is nice but I'm glad I held off.
My March was good but ended on a low. I'm in the process of getting my eBay account back from someone who's stolen it and eBay is proving to be very difficult to get ahold of. Email is the only method, apparently... with a response time of 24-48 hours. -.- Methinks I will be deleting my account once I get control of it again. AARRGH! Plus the accident which may or may not result in our car being totaled. Insurance has yet to tell us the verdict on that.
I'm in love with the chicken & dumplings I made! I'm waiting to make them again so Michael doesn't get bored but I absolutely loved it!
Yeah the Candle-Aire thing has bummed me out. I am sure it works incredibly but now I am debating spending $10 on a tin to make it work. I probably will but I am just sour about how huge it is. It seriously takes up my teeny tiny counter space. If I had a huge home it might be different. It looks like a ding dang crock pot.
DeleteSorry about the eBay fraud. eBay is the WORST about being easy to communicate with. My very last eBay experience was buying some mint eye masks and they never ever shopped and it took forever to get refunded. So now I think I am done, like you.
Those dumplings looked SO GOOD!
I'm wary of all of the posts I'm seeing in the wax groups about faulty/overheating Candle-Aires. Then their little tins get a limited use before they have to use a different tin. I just feel like the cost of upkeep is not worth the hassle. Plus, the size. I don't want a ginormous warmer taking up my counter/desk/buffet table space, thank you very much!
DeleteI kept my eBay open just for the off chance that I would catch a JLCCW opening. I don't think it's worth it right now. Maybe I'll message Jen and see if there's any other way I can get ahold of her wax, but at this point in time I'm ruling out all eBay only vendors.
I am right there with you. The size alone kills it for me. I am excited about the skinny tea light warmers coming though. <3
DeleteOh yeah. JLCCW. I keep forgetting. But like you, an eBay only store does not tickle my fancy. Hating eBay at the moment.
Aw congratulations on your new niece !! March sounded like it was pretty good, April will be that much better.
ReplyDeleteThanks Diane! How have you been? I hope April is good for both of us! <3
DeleteHi Julie! Had a moment to pop in today. Glad to see that March was good to you! Your spring break sounds amazing. Quilting is an everlong pipe dream of mine. In sixth grade, we actually had a whole week of quilting instead of classes. It was a little square quilt, all done by hand. My stitching was pretty bad though so one of the volunteer moms had to resew a lot of my border lol. One day I'll actually learn to use a machine and go to town. So many crafting goals that I fear I'll never meet. And meeting your niece, how special!! Are your girls excited to have a new cousin? Spring here has been very rainy so far but we've had a few nice days yet!
ReplyDeletePICO DE GALLO.
Pregnancy has so many built-in ups and downs for me, but this month has been mostly ups. Slowly the nausea is passing as I enter my second trimester. Things taste and smell good again. Well, some things. Still struggling to maintain my normal healthy diet and still relying a lot on bland carbs. Regaining some energy. Seeing baby, hearing the heartbeat, finding out baby is doing well, and finding out the gender via blood test have been the highest of highs this month. This year. This life lol. We are still very cautiously excited but it is starting to feel more real every day!
Take care Julie, and I hope you have a splendid April!
I hope you get a chance to learn. I would love to teach you <3 Wuilting is such a meditative and long lasting process and product.
DeleteThe girls are excited. Ariana is their only cousin so far. It kinda sucks that I am so much older than all my sisters but they will love getting tons of babysitting money.
Glad you are feeling better. Are you feeling the baby move? Best feeling in the world. Bar none. Do you mind messaging me the gender so I can see a little something to give you when you come down?
Thank you Jacqui! I hope April is wonderful for you too!
I would love the opportunity to learn from a quilting master!
ReplyDeleteOur kid's cousins are currently 13, 9, and 6 so they will have a huge age gap with their cousins as well. But you're right - built in baby sitters!
I found out that I have an anterior placenta so I will likely not feel baby until well into 20 weeks or more. A little bummed about that! I have a friend who is less than 2 weeks ahead of me and already is feeling her baby move! I will message you =)
Awww that is a little poopy. But anterior is better than previa. I had that a little with Savanna and had some bleeding issues. Had to go to the hospital. It worked out in the end though and moved up in time.
DeleteOoh that is scary, but glad everything turned out okay! Hopefully it doesn't move into previa position for me. It's definitely something I worry about. If anything, this may mean I will be monitored a bit more closely which is okay by me!
DeleteI can't believe March is over! Where the heck did it go? I think it was just sort of a blah-ish blur for me. I am a little excited at how fast we're getting back to fall though!
ReplyDeleteWhat is this Candle-Aire thing and who is all talking about it? I must REALLY be out of the loop these days, which really doesn't surprise me....lol Sounds like I don't need to worry about it though.
~Deb
Right?! It really did fly by. Lol!!! Yes only.... 5 more months until fall! I start fall in September :-)
DeleteNo you don't. I would ship you mine but it will need it's own melting tin and homestead exemption for property taxes. The thing requires it's own settlement. Too too big. Now I stare at it sitting on the floor in the computer room and wish for the $30 back.
The candle aire warmer is huge! But I'm really loving mine. I got an empty tin from LKay creations for under $7 shipped. I also bought a silicone donut pan on Amazon to use in it.
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge xfiles fan now! I never watched a single episode when it was on but now I love it!
Your March sounds like it was great and I'm super impressed that you made a quilt.
How long do you think the tin will last? Please let me know how the silicone pan works.
DeleteIsn't it fun?! Watching X-Files right now! On season 2. Thank you. I enjoy making quilts. I try to squeeze one in anytime I can.
I've been using mine daily for about a month now. The metal part is sturdy but there is a plastic lip that could fall off or break. I read on Facebook that someone has been using her tins for 4 months with no issues.
DeleteI will definitely let you know about the silicone pan. I just got it today so I'll try it out tonight or tomorrow.
I was super excited that they did the new season of x-files. I hope they decide to do another one.
The silicone pan worked well. I don't like the size of the donut I chose since it's a little small but it had good throw!
ReplyDeleteThank you! That is good to know! I may skip the tin entirely and try the silicone donut.
