Villainess Soaps: Whipped! & Smooch!

The Soap Box Company is a neat vendor that sells multiple lines of niche bath and body products. Jean recommended Arcana Soap's new summer line so I popped into The Soap Box Company to do some browsing. I placed two small orders and one of them included these little goodies from Villianess Soaps.

The Smooch body scrub, scented in Sol Bacio, is highly scented and a strong exfoliator. The sugar grains are slightly coarse and packed with nourishing oils and butters. Water beaded on my skin after applying. The scent is full on apricot preserves with candied orange peel garnish, sweet, tart and lively.

Whipped body creme in Xia followed the body scrub. The scent description from the site is: "Voluptuous orchid and black vanilla stained with blackberry juice, flecked with black pepper, and sprinkled with dry, bittersweet cocoa. An exercise in dark decadence, grounded by sandalwood drenched in amber. A Soap Box exclusive scent." I mostly smell bittersweet chocolate with a touch of pepper. Not a scent I would pick, not being a fan of chocolate in body care or home fragrance. The formula is very pleasant; thick white non-waxy cream with a nice slip that soaks into the skin well. Probably better suited for summer time skin. I prefer a bit more heft in winter lotions.

I would repurchase the scrub and body creme in Sol Bacio for an excellent summer scent. Kill Switch and First Frost sound interesting. They do offer a sampler set combination of 6 scrubs/cremes for $9.95. A six ounce pot is $11.00. Do you have a favorite niche bath and body vendor? Do you prefer a tried and true commercial brand?

  1. I've always wanted to order from Villainess, all the way back to my beginning soaping days, and yet I still haven't. They always remind me of Haus of Gloi and FuturePrimitive. Maybe now that I'm ordering small amounts of soap again I'll finally try them.

    1. I hope you decide to! I would love to hear what you think. I want to try her signature Villainess scent in her bar soap.

    2. Have you heard of, or looked at Alchemic Muse? That's another one I like but never seem to order from. I think I ordered once, waaaay back.

    4. I remember Lynda talking about AM and Villianess, I tried a couple things from each but was already following some etailers more closely and was trying to keep my stash small(ish). For the winter the Haus of Gloi pumpkin butter is pretty good, I'm not sure if Deb reviewed it...

Have you come across Solstice Scents? They're in FL & have a similar darkish vibe. When you mentioned salts I thought of them too, hers are good. I'll take a break from the recs now, lol.

Have a great time next week!

    5. Thank you Jean! Please keep the recs coming! I am very new with the handmade bath goodies. I got burned on a couple from etsy and stopped a while back (poor product) but now that I have tried some decent items I am excited :-) I hope your week is great too! I found a soap for you today that is all natural. I hope you like it! It won't go out for about a week or so.

    6. I went through the trial and error phase in the beginning as well. My first experience with Etsy the seller never mailed what I ordered, lol. By the fourth shop it got better. I'm intrigued by what you have picked out! I'm on a no/low-buy right now but made my first order from Rhinestone Housewife today because of the sale.
