Innisfree Green Tea Skincare

Michelle and I swapped boxes of goodies several months ago and she included samples of Innisfree Green Tea skincare. I fell in love. Hard. As my Japan trip loomed nearer, I began trying to find a way to get my hands on this Korean skincare. (And yeah, I do still plan on visiting Korea Town in Tokyo just for this reason). Recently an influx of Amazon gift cards from Teacher Appreciation had me searching for Innisfree. And Amazon carries it!

The line has been broken up into three types: fresh (for oily skin), balancing (for normal and combination) and moisture (for dry skin). This skincare line has multiple steps and in general, after cleansing the skin you apply the thinnest product first and work in layers until you apply the thickest cream last. I have decided to make the commitment to taking better care of my skin (read: spend more money on skincare than cosmetics). Luckily, this whole box of goodies really wasn't that spendy. Only $38 shipped for this hefty kit.

Green Tea Balancing Skin- This product came in the huge 200 ml bottle as well as a smaller travel size. It is clear and feels watery and silky. It leaves behind no residue and is meant to go on the face directly after washing unless you are using a serum (which I would like but did not purchase this time). It absorbs quickly with no tackiness. It is supposed to balance the skin's natural oil to moisture ratio according to the Innisfree site.

Green Tea Balancing Lotion- The lotion came in a 160 ml bottle as well as a travel size. It is white and creamy but still pretty thin in consistency. It absorbs quickly too and is full of amino acids for intense moisturizing.

Green Tea Balancing Cream- This kit only came with a tiny 10 ml tub of the cream. The cream is the finishing touch that provides a barrier to keep the skin hydrated plus protected. The mini fellas will be saved for when I travel this summer.

The scent is AMAZING. It reminds me of a softer, more clean and clear Elizabeth Arden Green Tea perfume. I could smell it all day.

I also bought a larger tub of the cream but in the Green Tea Seed Deep Cream which is way more emollient and heavy than the Balancing Cream. I wanted to use this for my eye area and neck and forehead mainly, as those areas get dry more quickly on my face. The 50 ml tub was around $20.

I do notice a difference in my skin. I have been breaking out less and my fine lines have stopped progressing as fast as they were previously. I am excited to be on a new skincare routine. Have you tried any Asian skincare? How do you feel about skincare? What are your favorite products?

  1. I've never heard of this line before! glad to hear it's working! my skincare routine is probably really boring.. lol. I try not to over-wash & I've been using Lush's Tea Tree Water spray. & my always on hand Burts Bees Blemish Stick (can't live without it!)
can't wait to check out Korea town cosmetics!!!!!!

    1. Unfortunately I think skincare in inherently boring. No flashy colors, no immediate results, just routine, routine, routine. But I am slowly coming around to realizing that it is beneficial and very important now that I am no longer a spring chicken. Your routine sounds perfect, simple and easy to do!

I am SO EXCITED! I cannot wait. Less than two months!

  2. Ooh, this line looks really nice. The deep cream reminds me of Origins for some reason, I never became a regular user but would use up any samples I got slowly to make it last.

Glad you found something that you look forward to using, I'm in the same position where if I'm consistent I think I might have some results also.

    1. Origins is nice too Jean! But so far the Innisfree Green Tea I enjoy a tad more. It is certainly more affordable.

Consistency is the key for sure! Hard sometimes with exhausted evenings and whatnot but I am going to try my best to use this summer to get into a routine.

  4. I am so glad you introduced me to this product because I can already see a difference in my skin. It is brighter and softer. I will be buying a kit soon. :) How often do you apply? Only at night before bed?

    1. I do the whole system at night and use just the skin and lotion in the morning under my makeup. Glad you like it! I think it is gentle enough for sensitive skin.

  5. I am so glad you love Innisfree! It is such a good brand and one of the few I consistently buy products from. I also love how eco-friendly they are. If you want to try more from the Green Tea line, go for the Green Tea Seed Serum or the Sleeping Pack. I am just about to start their Jeju Bija line for troubled skin (been breaking out a lot lately)!

    1. Thank YOU for including some in our swap!! Thank you for the recs. I will absolutely grab some soon. The serums and sleeping packs were interesting to me. My skin breaks out too (mostly during THAT time of month) so I will look into the Jeju Bija line too. Thanks Michelle!
