2017 Bucket List

Last year I created a list of 100 things to accomplish in 2016 and ticked off 47 items by the end of the year. Some of my favorites were: homemade pasta, homemade marinara, sunset on Anna Maria Island, Amish country, making scones, painting the girls' rooms and visiting Bok Tower. Some things were overly ambitious but I kind of enjoy that, makes me push harder even if I never see the fruition and others were easy and that gave me a little twinge of satisfaction by knowing I could check them off. This year I want to create a simpler list of 30 things to achieve in 2017, one or two for each month potentially. Some will be repeats of things I did not get around to last year. But I can say with some confidence... this will be the year of the face mask.

- Learn to knit (see how I never give up)
- Complete one craft a month
- Homemade marshmallows
- Complete my reading challenge
- NYC with my sisters
- Achieve weight loss goal
- Tent camping with the girls
- Replant my terrarium
- Bake cinnamon rolls with yeast
- Lord of the Rings quilt
- Take a friend out for coffee
- Gather & Flow mountain scene necklace
- Send a meal to a grandparent
- Home brewed kombucha
- Atelier candle
- Make bath salts (I swear I will this time...)
- Use a face mask once a week
-Serge Lutens Fille en Aiguilles full bottle
- Shelves in Savanna's room
- Drive the Blue Ridge Parkway
- Mail out birthday cards
- Solstice Scents Conjure full bottle
- Bake a traditional Yule Log
- Drink more tea
- Buy an oxblood shade of lipstick
- Climb a mountain
- Plant herbs
- Put girls back into gymnastics
- Watch Casablanca
- A weekend getaway with Adam

Do you have any plans or goals for this year that you can share with us? I am not so swell with resolutions but I do love a good list with things to cross off. Do you have any resolutions? Or improvements you would like to make in your life?

  1. I love this! Tent camping with your girls will be so much fun! And baking a Yule log! I thought about making one this year but there was no time. I see so many intricately decorated ones, they can be so cool! Plant herbs is a good one - and one of my goals for this year! I want to make planters for our deck and grow an herb garden this summer.

A lot of my goals for 2017 involve getting back to work (wholesaleing and flipping), but I have lots of fun goals too! One is to get back to hiking every weekend once winter is over. Along with that - I have to get Ever to like babywearing! I will forever keep trying. Another is to go on a vacation! 2016 was the first year in a long time we didn't go anywhere so I have the itch. Another is to begin culminating a wardrobe and accessories that will stand the test of time. I tend to shop at trendy places like Forever 21, H&M, etc. I want to start bringing in classic, well-made pieces that will never go out of style. You know, perfecting my mom look lol. And along with that - lose the rest of this baby weight! I didn't gain too too much in my pregnancy but I've barely lost any because HELLO BREASTFEEDING HUNGER. Never been so hungry in my life! Maybe 5-10 more lbs after that wouldn't hurt either. I also want to run a 5k or two this summer. Plus about a million other little goals always floating around in my head, but those are the major ones.

Whew! Have an excellent 2017 Miss J!

    1. Tent camping will hopefully happen next weekend, as long as it isn't raining and we can borrow a tent from someone. I was flipping through a magazine at Lowe's at came across a few recipes and mesmerizing photographs of Yule Logs and I was smitten. Your deck is lovely and some planters out there will be perfect. I always have empty pots around the front door that I struggle to fill and keep thriving once I do.

You certainly have some lovely parks to hike in. We couldn't get enough of the Squire's Castle area. How do you wear Ever? In a pouch in the front or back like a backpack or a sling? We had great luck with the ring slings but there are so many different wearing apparatus out there. H&M is hard to avoid with those prices. but I have been watching videos about how disposable clothing is awful for the environment. I tend to shop at Loft but when I can afford it I LOVE Boden. It is a British made brand that is expensive but very very well made. I tend to wait for end of season sales but what I buy washes well and lasts ages. And their Mini Boden line for kids is phenomenal! Breastfeeding hunger is real. And the cravings out of control.

Have fun plotting your bucket list!! Sounds like you have some wonderful goals. You have a great 2017 too!!

  2. We MUST be sisters 💜 This WEEK I tried getting David to watch Casablanca with me and he refuses to watch anything black and white. I would love to watch it with you. I also want an oxblood shade of lipstick, and we will hopefully cross off tent camping next week off your list. I would also like to visit that Terrarium store you told me about. 2017 will be a great year. Love you!

    1. Awwww... I will watch it with you!!I am eyeing a new Burberry lipstick product in the color Oxblood <3 And I hope it doesn't rain next weekend. We need to find a tent and some sleeping bags and stuff.

Yes! We will go to that succulent farm too. So many fun things to do! But especially NYC. I cannot wait. Love you too!! <3

  3. Great list! I also like the "little things among the big things" approach to bucket lists or resolutions or what have you - you're right, it makes you feel like you are indeed getting things accomplished, even if they're tiny things.

I've never used a sheet mask before, mostly because I think they make everybody look like they're cosplaying as somebody from the Purge movies. Can't blame you for not wanting to take pics!

    1. Gotta have some easy satisfaction built in :-) plus little things can be just as fun as big things sometimes, or even more so. I especially think that more in my older age.

LOL!! Well I do look mega creepy in them but I enjoy how they make my skin feel. I will send you one to try. But I may need to make you sign a waiver so you won't sue me for myvwax stash if it makes you break out. I also can't be held liable if a new obsession blooms.

  4. What a wonderful list of goals! I love that they seem very responsive and attainable. Congrats on all the things you did last year! I am working on sort of a first week of 2017 report post and will be including a few things I hope to accomplish this year.

  5. Um, that's a lot of face masks, says Captain Obvious. This list. How a list can say so much about a person, I'm not sure but it does. I teared up at sending a meal to a grandparent (I must be in a mood today) bc I don't have any of my own to send a meal to. My husband does though, so thank you for the inspiration to do so.
Items in common: sort of, I'll be heading to NYC w/girlfriends this year for the first time! Opposite of in common: I watch Casablanca every year, usually after Christmas like a holiday detox, and that scene with the singing of La Marseillaise-it fills my heart just thinking about it. Enjoy, friend.

    1. LOL! It is! It is! But want to hear something crazy? I am using about 2-3 masks a week. I have been popping one on after my evening bath and just watching TV or reading and my face is LOVING it. So at this rate... these fellas will only last me 2 or 3 months. *only I say* Hhahahhaha! I am a nut. I guess a 3 month stock pile of masks is a little bonkers.

My grandfather lives in the same town as I do and is struggling with colon cancer. I try to take him some desserts and such once in a while but I don't feel like I do it nearly enough. And my grandmother lives one town over. We see her every month or so but I would like to see her more often too. Adam's grandparents are still healthy, we visited them in CLE over the summer and that was nice.

How fun for you and NYC! Are you pinning any places to eat or things to do? Are you planning your itinerary already? I am tracking flights right now as step one. The cheapest single ticket I found was $177 but for a group of 4 it goes up to $235. Hoping we can work our way around that. Glad to hear you love Casablanca. My sister wants to watch it too so I am going to try and watch it with her soon.
