Target Dollar Spot: Stationary Finds, plus what my 'hood smells like...

Friday nights we have a tradition in our little Johnson nuclear family. Each Friday night we take turns picking where we go out to eat. Adam starts the rotation, then it is my turn the following Friday, Savanna the next and Scarlette the one after, and we continue this rotation indefinitely. The only rule is no fast food. Sometimes our choices make others in the group groan >cough CiCi's Pizza cough< but we carry on with smiles pasted and food consumed. More times than not, we all pick really great places and enjoy this tradition. Usually after dinner we run errant errands such as Target trips for birthday gifts for any parties that weekend or allergy pills, Kohl's for random socks or shoes, Walmart for allowance spending on Pokemon cards. Target was our destination this past Friday. Target always = Dollar Bin scouting for the girls and I while Adam paces or heads off elsewhere in the store. Lately, Target has been killing it with the stationary goodies.

Baker's Twine might have seen in heyday already, but I still love it to pieces and use it where ever I can tie it.

The notecards and mechanical pencils were too cute to pass up. So fresh and springy!

The gel pens suck. Big time.  Save your $1.

In preparation for my big trip to Japan I have been watching 100 Yen Store hauls. Oh my! They have the cutest things ever in those stores. Have you found any Dollar Spot goodies? Dollar Tree goodies? Any 100 Yen store item recommendations?

On a smelly note, I wish I could bottle this orange blossom laden air and send it Priority. I find myself stepping outside the house more and more just to get a whiff of God's perfume. This is what my neighborhood smells like at the moment. And it is a beautiful, albeit brief,  moment.

  1. I don't get to Target often because it doesn't open early enough for this extremely early shopper. A lot of the really cool Dollar Spot things I see in hauls, I never see at my Target. Well, I guess if I checked more often I might. Duh me. lol

Baker's twine must be making a comeback because I see it in Walmart's cheap crafty section too. I wanted some last Christmas to tie tags on, and couldn't find any. Grabbed some now though, while it's there.

Looking forward to those 100 Yen Store hauls!

    1. Our bins get picked over pretty quickly so when I happen to find them fully stocked I like to browse. What time do you like to shop? I used to enjoy going early in the morning when the kids were babies but now I like to lazy about in my PJ's half the morning before deciding to head out around 10.

Glad you found some baker's twine. It is perfect for Christmas tags.

I am excited about the100 Yen hauls too!! I already plan on shipping my stuff back via USPS o_O

    2. I'm usually on my way by 6:30am and back home by 9am. I'm early anyway, and it's so much easier when the store isn't crowded. Only downfall is that other stores aren't open yet. lol

    1. Yes they are!!! I am already putting back odds and ends forEaster.

I am aiming for any time between June and August so I don't have to take off work. Just watching the cheapest flights on Kayak and pouncing when the money and dates match up.

  3. Fields of orange blossoms, swoon! I love neroli.

Do people harvest the oranges or are there some wild versions similar to ornamental fruit trees? I imagine the bees would have a field day with the fallen fruit.

    1. I swoon too Jean <3

The ones behind us to the right were recently cleared then replanted but the farmer doesn't seem to be harvesting yet. The woods to the left do have random wild lemon and orange trees, which we harvest from time to time for personal use. The bees are out living to blossoms big time. Bees, moths, butterflies. Everywhere.

    3. Lol! May as well send the whole package and get some sunshine. Just looked on Google Earth and it looks like when they just replanted. The street view on google is at least 5 years old. We have our old cars and golf cart.

  7. I checked the bins at Target this weekend, and they didn't have any of that cute stuff :( The dollar bins at Michaels often have cute stationery, too.

Love the orange blossom pics! Looks just like the area around when my mom lives in Four Corners near Orlando. I've rediscovered my love of Serge Lutens Fleurs de Citronnier this spring :D

    1. I am sorry :-( They can be so hit or miss. I hope they will fill with cute things soon. Michael's does have the cutest stationary. I haven't been there in ages. Next time I am on the north side of town I will swing by.

Four Corners! Cool! That is only about 20 minutes from where I live. Kate. I have a Mr. Lutens addiction. I have about five bottles on my wish list 0_o

And Fleurs de Citronnier is one of them. From sampling, it feels much more lighter and crystalline than d'Oranger. (Though that is my first SL love and always will hold a special place- it really opened my eyes to the crazy emotions and reaction perfume could elicit from me- I was utterly replused and confused at first, then I couldn't stop sniffing my wrists! LOL!). Happy Spring Kate!!! Thanks for pushing that SL into my day dreams. <3

    2. Happy Spring to you as well, Julie! Mr. Lutens has such a way of drawing people in against their better judgement ;)

That's so cool that you're right near my mom. Next time I'm out there we'll definitely have to meet up!
