Shannon has really been knocking me out with her incredible scents and throw the past few openings. If you would like any of these reviewed in depth, please let me know which ones in the comments.

We had a Red Tailed Hawk visitor last week.

I think he wanted to remind me to pause and observe more often in my life. My feet too frequently marching with swift purpose, my eyes often on my phone or next destination, the cogs of my brain rotating around to-do lists or superfluous things. He sat there waiting for me to see him, to be present.

We are going camping this weekend to swim in some springs and enjoy a last summertime adventure. I will carry my camera of course, but I will be taking more moments of rest and mindfulness. Once I head back to work I will eventually need to get back to a slower posting schedule, about 3-4 times a week, especially as I learn these new ropes.

How do you create mindful moments in your life? Do they come naturally or do you have to plan them? How is your August fleshing out? Clinging to summer or ready for fall?

Love Potion Magickal Perfumerie: Summer 2016 Collection

These scents were scent free by Love Potion Perfumes. It is my pleasure to review them.

I have been falling head over fins for these 2016 Summer scents from Love Potion Magickal Perfumerie. Mara possesses an incredible talent for blending scents and forming cohesive collections. Let's dive into her newest collection shall we?

Seaside- Notes: Several varieties of suntan oil-type coconut, lotus blossom, green coconut, sandalwood and white sugar.
Sugar sweet coconut oil with a watery green hue from the lotus blossom and green coconut cast limpid pools of aqua on the skin, like a secret tropical lagoon. The coconuts grow in depth and darkness as they meld into flesh, taking on the aged wood of sandalwood, golden amber, and vanilla orchids. A must for coconut lovers.

Love Potion Summer 2016 Brule- Notes: The Original Love Potion blended with a luscious delicious dessert.
Heavy cream and caramelized sugar with warm drops of cafe au lait and labdanum penetrating the gourmand lushness. I could drown in this fragrance. It begs to be worn on a breezy summer day perched on a delicate wrought iron chair at a Parisian cafe'. Delectable.

Atlantic Shore- Notes: Lettuce leaf, bladderwrack, olive blossom, green coconut, vanilla and guavaberry.
Bladderwrack seaweed and the white floral scent of olive blossoms tinge the air with a beautiful fresh breeze floating in from the coast. Gauzy with white musk and ever so subtly sweetened with the peachy nectar and lemony brightness of guava. It dries down into woodsy vetiver and bleached driftwood and more of the musk. Lovely.

Betrothal Potion- Notes: None listed.
Soft herbs and sweet florals crafted into a tincture for love. A touch of spearmint, feathery dill, green and peppery herbs overflowing a mason jar dotted with pink sweet peas and peony blooms. A beautiful delicate brew that pairs well with hooded side glances and secret half smiles. A melange of fruit flesh drips into the bottom notes for velvety sweetness.

Butterfly Bloom- Notes: Five varieties of plumeria blossom, sandalwood and berry sugar.
Mellifluous fans of plumeria petals unfurl from the towering frangipani tree that arches a bower over head. Blades of banana tree leaves snap in the breeze, sending verdant hues to my nose. The motley collection of yellow, white and pink plumerias offer a symphony of notes: coconuts still on the palm, green bananas, honeysuckle headiness. The sandalwood starts young and fresh then fades into creamy musk with just a whisper of that berry infused sugar to lend a general sweetness.

Splendor in the Grass for Men- Notes: Green grass, woody vetiver, Irish moss, balsam, cedar, teak, African herbal essential oils, Oriental spice.
Plump mounds of dewy moss and broken grass blades burst on the skin and under the nose. Balsam comes in with sweet evergreen harmony but does not linger long. Cedar and teak lend their signature aromatic tones with gathering strength. All the while, the grass rises underfoot and under nose and woody stemmed vetiver not far behind.

As you guys know who have read a while, I do not categorize fragrances as masculine or feminine. After all, I wear Dior Homme, Hermes Terre d'Hermes and Dame Herb Man cologne. I know men that wear roses and Angel. If you enjoy scents pungent with grass then by all means try this one, whether you are a man or a woman and don't let labels hinder your fragrance choice. :-)

Black Star Lavender- Notes: Lavender, black licorice root, star anise, amber, black tea, rain accord.
Sweet and silky lavender goes noir. This blend brings to mind Deadly Sleeping Draught. Steely sugar dusted lavender buds crushed into silken ebony licorice. A drizzling of vanilla amber and a touch of smoky black tea push this fragrance into the decadent gourmand category, while the rain accord keeps it light and crystalline. I want to pour this all over my bubble bath warmed skin before I drift off to sweet dreams. I can also see this being a beautiful scent to wear daily just to calm the heart and soul. A full bottle of this will be bought.

Mermaid's Kiss with Hedione- Notes: Sweet pea, water lily, plumeria blossoms, Bird of Paradise, bamboo, aloe, leafy wet greens, honeydew, cantaloupe, teak, sandalwood, white amber, hedione.
Candied flower petals shimmer like pink rose bud lips. Cantaloups and honeydew highlight the tropical nature of sweet pea and plumeria, the enchanting aquatic breath of the mermaid's soft exhale passing through melon sugared lips. The kiss is deepened by sultry jasmine and teak, tapering into a sailor's dream on the trail of ethereal amber, airy musk and misty bamboo. Deliciously seductive melon based fruity floral that would wear perfectly in these late sultry days of summer.

Ocean Mist- Notes: Ozone sea salt, vintage musk, lime essential oil, coconut, pineapple.
Bracing sea spray misting the face, hair cracking like whips, the rhythmic crest and fall as the keel of the schooner cuts through the water. Lime zest cooling and metallic like the wet metal cleats on the ship that hold the lines. Must and musk rise from the damp wood. Faraway islands bristling with coconut palms and pineapple plants, send their regards on the currents of the wind, ever so faint and green.

Pie in the Sky 2016- Notes: Four types of coconut cream, vanilla, buttercream, graham cracker crust spice accord.
Lickable. Mouthwatering. Exquisitely delicious gourmand fragrance that is piled high with coconut custard topped with billowing clouds of vanilla whipped cream. A flaky crust of graham grounds the airy dessert without coming off as bakery and more as dark vanilla with a touch of cinnamon dust and amber.

OCCO (Overt Cops for Covert Ops): Ambrosia 2016- Notes: Essence of Woman copulins, mango, cherry, ginger, vanilla bean, rich chocolate, patchouli.
Chocolate covered cherry cordials. Mango brightening and creating more tartness to the cherry, giving it dimension. The saturated cherry glow fades into a dark chocolate love affair. Spiced ginger melds with the chocolate effortlessly and chocolate and patchouli? A match made in heaven. This was a surprise favorite for me. Normally cherry and chocolate are not my favorite scents to wear, but Mara has made a chocolate covered cherry that I love wearing. This one would be a joy to wear during the holidays.

Summershine with Topper spray- Notes: Pineapple, aloe, orchid, white amber, Topper pheromone blend.
That signature aroma of pineapple nectar, sticky on the lips and tart on the tongue blends with fuchsia orchid petals, thick and pliant with traces of plumeria hidden within. Aqueous aloe brings prisms of water droplets and coastal haze along to the mix. The whole blend is elevated by sandy and soft white amber lying underneath. I will be draining this sprayer quickly.

Concentrated perfume oils (1/3 oz) are $24.95, one ounce sprays are $39.95 and 1.5 ml samples are $5.00. Very high quality scents at a generous price point.

Summer is leaving us all too quickly, but anyone of these fabulous fragrances can allow it to linger on our skin for just a bit longer. My top favorites in this collection include: Black Star Lavender (buying a full bottle of that!), Love Potion Summer 2016, Betrothal Potion, Mermaid's Kiss, Pie in the Sky, Ambrosia 2016. Ocean Mist came in pretty high too. Love the lime in that one. Which of these would you like to wear?

Love Potion Magickal Perfumerie: Love Potions

These fragrance samples were given free by Love Potion Perfumes for an honest review.

The scents featured today from Love Potion Magickal Perfumerie are not currently part of a specific collection but are random fragrances from past collections that are still offered on the website.

Sensual Harmony- Notes: Ylang ylang, vanilla, sandalwood.
A creamy soft haze of warm soap tinted flesh and twisted sheets cool against legs and shafts of sunlight striping the skin in bands of heat. This is the airy comforting scent of a lazy Saturday spent in bed with the one you love. Clean, narcotic and relaxing.

Sugared Apples- Notes: Red and green apples blended with three sugars.
Sweet and fresh, this scent smells just like juicy sliced apples. Crisp, jewel toned and sprinkled with a touch of sugar. Not as syrupy sweet as a candied apple, but more realistic and vibrant.

Original Love Potion- Notes: Vanilla, amber, rose, verbena, greenery, apricot, patchouli, and more.
A creamy sweet dessert garnished with miniature sugared apricots and crystalized rose petals. Honey, vanilla and buttery amber musk make this a delicious skin scent.

Totem: Deer- Notes: Cherry blossom, daisy, freesia, daffodil, clover, teak, birch, earth and musk ambrette.
I love how the lush green meadows that unfold on the skin bring to mind a deer nibbling tender clover buds and verdant shoots of grass. White papery birch trunks part to reveal the hidden meadow where the deer dwells during the quiet dawn and dusk hours. Serene, natural and cleansing.

PE- Mark's Pepperwood- Notes: Vetiver, sandalwood, black pepper.
Grassy, smoky vetiver pairs with quietly sweet creamy sandalwood and floral black pepper in a lovely trio of notes. There is almost a mahogany richness to this aroma. A sexy scent.

Dragonfly- Notes: Blue lotus, bamboo, leafy greens, green tea, and Indian white amber.
Lily pads resting on a peaceful pond. Cattails velvety brown heads bending in the cool spring breeze. Lilac pickeralweed buds raising from the surface of the water, sending out amber spores of pollen across the water. An aquatic scent with green hues and amber tones. A dragonfly's quaint habitat indeed.

Pepperwood and Sugared Apples are the top two for my skin and nose out of this selection, though I do quite enjoy them all. Have you sampled any new perfume oils lately? Love Potion Magickal Perfumerie: Wax Tarts

These wax tarts were sent free from Love Potion Perfumes.

Mara, the creative genius that brews lovely fragrances at Love Potion Magickal Perfumerie, also creates bath and body products and wax tarts, some of which release pheromones. I had the pleasure of receiving and melting some of these lovelies recently. In her Etsy store you can find these tarts. She makes them in one ounce cups and sells 3 cups for $5.00.

Pillow Stuffing is a great bedtime scent, relaxing and calming. I pick up minty lavender with touches of white amber musk. One cup threw medium-strong in my bedroom for several hours. I hung out in my bedroom most of the day and my nose grew used to it but when I left and returned I could pick right up on it. Very much a scent I would melt regularly and purchase if I ever see it in stock.

Drive By Fruiting with Open Windows (pheromone), not sure if this is named after Mrs. Doubtfire but if so I love it! I melted both of these in my kitchen and living room and got a medium throw. It reminded me of a fruit salad, with pear and pineapple juice as the dressing and enjoyed outside by the pool during summer.

Sweet Caramel Apple with Heart and Soul (pheromone) makes my fall anticipating heart swell. Crisp Macintosh apple slices dipped in red hard candy coating and drizzled in caramel. I am tucking this one away for my August Back-To-School melt.

Sugared Resins mixes brown sugar with frankincense and myrrh and ancient resins. The molasses filled brown sugar oozing with buttery and honeyed notes coats the resins with soft sugar sweetness. I love this scent. And thankfully it is in stock for me to grab more. Totally a "Julie" scent.

I am stocked to have been able to try these innovative pheromone laced wax tarts. I enjoy the scents and throw and will definitely be trying more in the future. Any of these scents sounds yummy to you? Which would you try?

Love Potion Magickal Perfumerie: April 2016 Collection

These perfumes were provided free by Love Potion Perfumes for an honest review.

The April 2016 Love Potion Magickal Perfumerie collection star struck me with its mystical and nebulous vibe. I feel like everyday is a new adventure when I wear these beautiful creations. From the artistic labels to the incredible juice within, I can see that Mara puts all her passion and creativity into her work.

Age of Aquarius- Notes: Patchouli, amber, vanilla absolute, vanilla bean, cannabis, purple desert sage, camellia, clove bud.
A complex yet grounding aroma. The cucumber aquatic freshness of camellias are braced by the herbal sage and sweet vanilla. Smokey patchouli and rich amber create a soothing foundation that threads throughout the fragrance. Once the scent settles a bit, crackling clove and airy cannabis arise. Oh, I love that clove. Spiced sweet patchouli is carried around on my skin for the duration. This scent is pure magic. I can see myself wearing this around the holidays to bring cheer and year 'round as a mood enhancer.

Time Turner- Notes: Spikenard, labdanum, tonka, coconut.
A dark, woody coconut that starts out with a tap root quality that deepens into an ebony licorice root hint. Raw coconut, fibrous brown shell and sticky dark labdanum are the stars here, make no mistake. Labdanum's noir amber effluvia is sweetened by tonka and coconut. A time turner that transports me to a pirate's life of yore in the old Caribbean: dark, ritualistic and dangerous.

Aurora- Lavender, marshmallow, buttercream, white amber.
This was one I just knew I would love based on the notes alone. It opens like a delicate vanilla bean petit four filled with buttercream and garnished with crystallized lavender buds. The lavender maintains a mellow clarity that is both sweet and airy. White amber materializes towards the dry down with a powdery soft musk. A lovely, lovely scent.

Tribute- Notes: Oud, frankincense, tobacco, vanilla.
Ooooooooh my sexy beast on a stick. This is the dark, woody, intriguing type of scent that my heart pitter patters over. Slightly smokey deep woods brought to my nose by the oud, resinous frankincense and a whisper of pipe tobacco all brewed and aged in oak barrels. I just cannot stop inhaling the crooks of my arms where this nestles in warmth and gives me the side eye. Yeah, I know you are there sexy beast and I love you.

Mystic Mountain- Notes: Tulip, honeysuckle, water lily, olive blossom, wisteria, green vegetable musk, ozone, hedione.
A mystic, misty mountain that brings The Shire to mind: green rolling hills, bulb flowers dotting the doorways of hobbit holes with splashes of yellow, red and orange and a quietly chattering brook rambling through the meadow. Honeysuckle, lily and wisteria unroll verdant tones and watery hues. Ozone lends the fog that creeps around the shire on silent paws as evening pushes the sun away. The outdoors that can be worn on your flesh like a cloak.

Morning Star- Notes: Cucumber, basil, spearmint, lemongrass, white patchouli.
Wow. What a rejuvenating fragrance! Like an iced glass of spring water infused with mint leaves, and thin half moons of lemon and cucumber after a sweltering day in the Florida summer heat, this scent quenches. Spearmint  tingles my nose first, while the cucumber and herbs standout on my skin the most. This scent will certainly grace my sun warmed skin this summer.

Electric Heat- Notes: Purple prickly pear, berries, orange blossom honey, pink sugar, sandalwood, bamboo leaf tea, copulins.
Electric Heat brings to mind a late July evening sitting on the porch watching heat lightening flicker in the dark sky while enjoying the company of a friend and a shared summer cocktail. Sunny pear and tender wild berries lend their nectar to the concoction, sweetened with mild orange blossom honey and rock candy crystals. Various flora surrounding the porch let off their night aromas in anticipation of the coming storm. Bamboo tea illustrates the moment the skies open and water pours down to the sleeping dark earth, wet and cooling.

Elara- China musk, teak, paperwhites, tuberose, tea rose, Magnet pheromone.
White roses. Elara smells like an armful of pristine white roses, without a blemish and full of heady fragrant beauty.  Clean musk and blonde woods support the subtle rose, jasmine and tuberose notes. A truly beautiful scent that would be fitting for a beach wedding. I wish I had had this scent when I got married 12 years ago. I am glad to have it now. It will be worn on the next date night for sure.

New 2016- Notes: Milk extract accord, lavender, vanilla, oakmoss.
I must admit I was very hesitant about enjoying this when I read the description and I saw "baby." I tend to be very leery of newborn/baby scents. For some reason I just can't get on with them. Maybe I inhaled too much Johnson & Johnson when my girls were wee babes. Thankfully this did not remind me of bathing fiascos or a million and one diaper changes. It reminded me of a much better version of a well known Lavender Vanilla. New 2016, to my nose, is a creamy, slightly powdery, lavender vanilla musk. A perfect bedtime scent to slather on after my own nightly bathing ritual.

Rose Dust- Notes: Roses, champagne, sandalwood, myrrh, oakmoss, vanilla, musk, sugar, woodsmoke, Popularity potion.
Rose Dust is a knockout! Sugar encrusted burgundy rose petals lifted by golden aldehydic champagne bubbles. Glace' seduction. The midnight rose and champagne celebration is deepened with myrrh, musk and the ebony wisp of woodsmoke that adds voluptuous curves. Sultry. I love it.

Lariel- Notes: Orange blossom, ylang ylang, caramel, vanilla, green coconut water, teak, smoked sugar cane.
Bright and delicious, this fruity floral features caramelized oranges and tropical blossoms. The gourmand blood orange and caramel opening reveals orange blossoms and coconuts underneath. The teak and sugar cane smooth out the finish. Brilliant fragrance.

Sample daubers can be purchased for $5.00 (1.5 ml), one ounce sprays are $39.95, and 1/3 ounce concentrated perfume oils are $24.95. This collection is still being offered on the site, as well as a newer June collection that features many seaside themed scents, including a mermaid. To keep abreast of releases and join in on Love Potion chatter, join their Facebook group

Which of these stellar scents calls out for you to wear? Some of my favorites in this collection include: Tribute, Age of Aquarius, Aurora, Rose Dust, Elara and Lariel. I very much enjoyed them all though and will be wearing them this summer to bring beauty to my days.

Love Potion Magickal Perfumerie: February 2016 Ivory Cats Collection

These fragrance samples were provided free by Love Potion Magickal Perfumerie for review.

Hey. Guys. I have some seriously amazing perfume oils to show you right meow.

Love Potion Magickal Perfumerie will be featured here on the blog through the span of three posts within the next few weeks. I am positively giddy over the offerings from this artisan house. Especially today's Ivory Cats collection. Love Potion Magickal Perfumerie boasts over 25 years of artisanal perfume creating utilizing the magnetic effect of pheromones to boost the draw to others. Not all the pheromones in selected blends are seduction driven, some highlight popularity, clarity and general happiness. Their catalogue features dozens upon dozens of well thought out and unique aromas.

Ivory Cats is a collaboration with artist Lesley Anne Ivory for the February 2016 collection that is still currently available. Curl up with your favorite feline (or two) and let me introduce this purrrr-fectly curated line of perfume oils. You had to know the cat puns were coming. I am an excited geek. It is what I do.

Musk du Mog- Notes: Animalic musks, amber attars, sandalwood, Egyptian rose geranium.
Powdery incense wisps curl around stalks of sunflowers gleaming with amber resin dew drops dry down into freshly washed bodies adorned with amber and patchouli dusting powder. The scent settles and sharpens into those animalic musks, smelling of sweet furry bodies and a tang of sweat. Enduring and not alarming. Wonderful for musk lovers like myself.

Valentine- Notes: Apricot, amber, vanilla, orange blossom, white musk.
Velveteen orange blossom petals stroking your nose, sweet and innocent from the open window in the attic where you fondly cradle a stack of ribbon tied Valentine's from generations past. These crackling delicate letters, imbued with an amber and musk trail of perfume, feather the orange blossom and budding apricot and peach into delicate smudges. In the end the musk is left with a scattering of dried yellowed orange blossom petals rattling around in the box of Valentines. Once more, sweet love forgotten.

Silken Glow- Notes: Orris, Egyptian musk, cedarwood, vetiver, Indian sandalwood.
The distinct fruity suede effluvia that characterizes orris, to my nose, emerges while the perfume oil is wet on the skin. Orris folds back into the flesh and allows cedar shavings and smokey vetiver to turn up. Creamy vanilla sandalwood composes the afterglow that will carry throughout the remainder of the day.

Cherry Divinity- Notes: Cherry, marshmallow, vanilla, white chocolate, amber.
Serendipity bliss. My favorite cherry vanilla ice cream. I want to bite myself I smell so good. Fat maraschino cherries float in red prisms of syrup, generous dollops of marshmallow creme float to the top after a few minutes. White chocolate, heavy with cocoa butter and amber, lends depth and richness to this decadent dessert. Hazy golden coconut  and vanilla amber round out the experience during the grand finale of the dry down. I need this in my collection.

Goddess of the Blue Moon- Notes: Nubian green musk, bamboo leaf, blue lotus, amber, oakmoss, white willow, Le Femme Noire pheromone.
An aquatic dream, Cleopatra floating serenely down the reed strewn Nile, transparent ivory gauze swirling like a nimbus around her body. Bamboo musk rolls off the reeds, adding greenery to balance the watery blue lotus. Cottony willow buds thread through the breeze skimming along the top of the river's water. The base blooms with narcotic blue lotus, strengthened with oakmoss.

Kara Kedi- Tobacco flower, tobacco leaf, oud, black orchid blossom, Perfect Match pheromone.
Tobacco macerated with fruits and brandy, sweet and boozy. The orchids inject a touch of lightness to the indulgence in the heart notes. Eventually the evening wraps up with a sip of sweet amber laced vanilla liqueur.

Closer- Notes: Indian black amber, musk, vanilla, leather, honey, pear, ginger, Essence of Women copulins.
Pear and leather create a unique accord that is sweet and daring, artisan lollipops and handcrafted whips, leather and lace. A dusty dryness of flaked amber resins and aged leather comprises the base.

Creamed Honey- Notes; Buttercream, coconut cream, Indian amber, orange blossom honey.
Me-ow! A gourmand delight. Honey, deep and burnished, infused with coconut. Its orange blossom origin keeps is shimmering instead of ebony like molasses. Amber soaks up the sugar and lends a dusky warmth. I want to drizzle this Creamed Honey all over and bask in the sun like a naughty cat. So very delicious.

Dianthus- Notes: Carnation, roasted black tea leaves, cardamom, powdered sugar, vanilla, sandalwood.
Soft carnations, not peppery or spiced, and tea leaves merge sublimely, tea and sympathy, slightly smoked and sprinkled with cardamom. One cube of sugar included. Sandalwood appears under the guise of vanilla woods and pairs with the now dried carnations and dregs in the bottom of the cup, lingering in a melancholy manner. Quite lovely.

Passionbee- Notes: Passionfruit, black currant, apricot, grapefruit, freesia, Arabian spice, bee pollen, mahogany, vetiver, Heart & Soul pheromone.
Sweet and tart, winey and bright, freesia flower buds ground the exuberant fruits. Currants and grapefruit, perfectly tangy, compliment the apricot's honeyed and plump curves. Crystalized honey and powdery bee pollen sweeten and smooth the mahogany and vetiver.

Tantalize- Notes: Rare orchids, vanilla, marshmallow, white musk, myrrh, woodsmoke, smoked sugar cane, Lace pheromone.
Whipped cream drenched sugared petals and wisps of ancient myrrh and musks are indeed a tantalizing introduction to this scent. The woodsmoke and smoked sugar cane are subtle and barely perceptible, more like the specters of smoke rather than a full on cloud. The sugar cane has bamboo clarity and not the traditional molasses thickness I am used to but it works here to keep Tantalize lighter and more carefree. A lovely scent.

Veridian Muse- Notes: Green musk, African frankincense, dark chocolate, exotic black orchid, Open Windows pheromone.
Herb gardens and grassy meadows hug a cottage in an English countryside near the sea, nestled on a craggy cliffside. Fresh air, broken grasses, salty tang all swell in through the open windows like a gentle wave, cleansing the home. The freshness is balanced by the dry down which releases dark woody chocolate musk and furry green cocoa nibs.

So many favorites in this collection: Creamed Honey, Tantalize, Cherry Divinity, Kara Kedi and Dianthus to name a few. Though to be honest I enjoyed them all.

Samples can be purchased for $5 each, one ounce sprays are $39.95 and 1/3 ounce of concentrated perfume oils are $24.95. Full bottle sets can be purchased at a discount as well as the postcards. Extra pheromones and copulins can be custom added to any scent for additional money. Do any of these fragrances stroke your coat? My cat fancy is quite tickled. Even Toddles approves and she is pretty much ambivalent to everything but food and petting.
