The day after Christmas two of my sisters, Heather and Lindsey, and I headed out around 8am to check out the Lush store in Brandon and then a couple Targets. I ended up buying this 6 foot pre-lit birch tree for $47. It was half off plus an extra 10% off since it was a display. My obsession with birch continues. I also nabbed a 6 foot tall and skinny pre-lit evergreen to go outside by the door for $30. It was $100 but returned and on clearance for $69.99. My sister wheeled and dealed with the manager and got it down to $30 even. I was flabbergasted. No photo, as it is tucked into the attic now.

Lindsey and I scooped up all the vintage looking wrapping we could find. She has an eye for the cutest patterns possible. And she won't tell you either. You have to watch her like a hawk. Eye what she tosses into the cart. She even snuck in a second vintage Santa wrapping paper and I missed out on it. I only saw it as it scanned across the register. Look at those campers! The buffalo check (she taught me that) and the foxes! Coordinating tags and bows abound! And even a cookie plate.

I love Target's big bow boxes. Full of various sizes, textures and colors, as well as ribbon and trim. I am a full fledged nerd and love to use the ribbon and bows on all the packages I can. The glass owls had to come home with me. Two for the tree and one each for the girls' ornament boxes. And lastly, a box of crackers for New Years Eve. Everything was 50% off and ended up being a great deal. I am set for next Christmas.

This is the majority of my Christmas spoils. Santa was generous and a great listener. The Sephora skincare box highlights products from South Korea and Tokyo. The Yves Saint Laurent Couture palette in 08 shimmers with green, taupe, gold and nudes. The color payoff impresses me with the small swatching I did. I also received cats in space leggings, purple pajamas, a bra, and a Lush Hello Gorgeous box. In my stocking I found panties, Essie Good To Go topcoat, Burt's Bees, Lancome eye makeup remover, lotion, Boscia face masks, a couple Lush bath bombs and wand, as well as a fat pack of Orbit gum. From friends and family I was treated to Sephora and Loft gift cards, candles, Starbucks gifts cards, a coffee mug from the original Starbucks, Sonoma Scent Studio's Forest Walk travel spray and other wonderful treasures.

I will post my Lush haul in a few days. I did get in two orders from the Lush USA site, but nothing from the UK site this year. Probably for the best.

We will spend the rest of the week cleaning and hanging out. The tree is in the fire pit waiting on a chilly day, the decorations are in the attic and the girls have shed their tears of Christmas coming to a close.

It is bittersweet but I am ready to move on. Ready to enjoy these last few days off.

Did you do any post-Christmas shopping? What are you up to during the Christmas/New Year's interim?

  1. I'm surprised you have your tree and decorations down already. I took down the decorations on Tuesday, I think, but the tree is still up. That will come down on New Year's Day most likely.

I've had my first mopey moments about Christmas this year. I always have that bittersweet feeling after Christmas, like you mentioned. It just seemed really sad this year because I enjoyed Christmas so much in a whole new way, but now it feels so detached and so long ago. Seeing all the Christmas leftovers at Walmart, picked over and scattered while everyone has already moved on was very sad.

    Here's to a wonderful 2017!

    1. For some reason, each year I get obsessed with taking the tree and decorations immediately. I think having the house so cluttered with things from September to Christmas has me aching to clear it out. I was even day dreaming about taking it down Christmas night. Now that is bad. :-(

I am glad you got to enjoy it in your new way though. Hoping that holiday trend continues for you. Happy, mellow gatherings. <3 The Hobby Lobby Christmas stuff makes me sad. Everything is broken or chipped and makes the holidays look so dejected.

Thank you for the New Year's card. I will snap a photo of it and send it to you for inspo. I am thankful to have you as a friend and I hope it will continue for many years to come.

      Cheers!

  2. Wonderful finds and gifts! Those owls! I got a couple Starbucks gift cards too, yum! Can't wait to see your Lush haul. I really wanted to order a Rose Jam shower gel and Ro's Argan Body conditioner but I can't deal with the prices. I'm currently stalking a couple on Ebay, haha. Glad you had a wonderful holiday! I'm excited to see what the new year holds for both of us.

    1. Aren't the owls so sweet?! I am have a weakness for them. Starbucks gift cards are always nice. I find if I get a few of them I tend to want to splurge on a new coffee mug or tumbler. Then use the rest on a drink or two.

I am apt to agree with you on the Lush price structure. It is way out of hand. I cannot imagine paying full price during the year often on their stuff. Even at half off it is a little steep. Basically they charge $10 per item in a gift box. And the shower gels are even smaller than their smallest size this year!!! They are calling them "gift size" like the 3.3 ounce ones aren't small enough as it is. Ugh.

Thank you! I hope you had a nice holiday season too. Excited to get to know you even better and follow along on your adventures.

Cheers and Happy New Year!! <3

  3. I'd like to hear more about Apple Puff Pumpkin Pie, please, because there's a crunchy (?) sort of note there, and I'm curious to know what you make of it. Sweet Christmas haul - that Lush box (literally the box) is beautiful. Santa(s) must have been paying attention. :)

    1. Ah, but speaking of gifts, I melted a third of the little Balsam and Citrus sun you gave me on Christmas Day in the afternoon before dinner and it was the perfect little kicky Christmas scent. I adored it; thank you for sending it my way.

    2. I will review it for sure! Thank you for gifting it to me <3

Santa spoils me rotten. And Santa only wants things like work socks, boxers, gum, razors and lip balm in return. He is a funny, practical guy.

YES!!! Glad you liked it! I know I hype it up but I really love it. And I know not all scents work for everyone, one friend got too much grapefruit and did not like it I don't think, but it is so strong, citrusy and evergreen. It rings my chimes for sure.

I hope you have a Happy New Year!!! Cheers!

  4. As usual, lovely pics. I tried to order some Lush on-line during the sale and it was madness. After an hour of waiting in a virtual line, I lost my place because I reloaded the page and it wouldn't let me back in. I gave up. Ordered from the Dirty Goat Soap Co instead. Looking forward to seeing your haul and living vicariously.

    1. Thank you! It was madness. I don't know how they plan on keeping this up. I feel like it has been this way the past few years but getting progressively worse and worse. Dirty Goat Soap Co has been on my radar this past year. Stephanie from Candy Panda loves it and posts their products on IG. I cannot wait to read about your order. I have a feeling you will enable me the rest of the way. <3

I look forward to reading your blog this year and getting to know you better! Cheers!
