If you follow me on IG (TheRedolentMermaid or Julie Johnson), then you might have known I was going to post about this. It is almost the end of strawberry season here in central Florida (the Strawberry Festival is going on right now as I type). Strawberry fields were ripe for the picking. So Adam and I loaded up the girls after church and did just that for the bargain price of $0.50 per quart. So juicy and amazingly sweet.

Do you ever go to U-Picks? What are some of your favorite things to pick? We also love blueberry season, which usually falls around April.

  1. oh man! we miss u-picks!! I just saw that blueberries are next!
I looked for a u pick here.. but it's not quite like the states.. for between ¥1500-2000 ( a little less for kids), you can go pay to pick strawberries, but they have to be eaten as you pick.. if you want berries to take home, those are bought after in the gift shop. :-/
I can go buy packs at the local market for ¥400 right now. so I think I'll pass! lol. I will say the japanese strawberries are every bit as sweet as FL! so I didn't feel totally guilty when I paid $8 for a pack back in December when the season started.

    2. Glad to hear they taste just as good!! That makes all the difference. Every time we pick I think of you and David. One of my favorite memories.

I will be most happy to review those three! I LOVE ABBA! Hope your weekend has been going nice.

  2. Beautiful! I never did u picks when I lived in Orlando, but I should have! Here in Texas, I usually do it with blackberries, peaches, and sometimes strawberries. Growing up in CA, I never called it that, but everyone had produce trees and whatnot, so it was normal for many citrus, stone fruit, and nuts. So delicious and fun!

    1. You have lived in some cool places. I have always wanted to visit Texas. Blackberry and peach picking sound awesome. I think we may have some of those around here. I will check.

    1. It really is a steal of a deal! The berries are so late in season that they all were mostly ripe. They taste so good and juicy right in the field.
