Still craving some cozy scents since the weather will be getting cold on and off as rainy cold fronts blow in. Let me know if you are curious about any of these.

I have been going through my wax stash and making up two medium flat rate boxes to give away here in a couple days. I am using up my perfume samples and burning my candles. A little bit of packing has commenced since mom dropped off some Rubbermaids and I picked up some Sterilites at Target.

Just packing away my fabrics and crafting supplies was eye opening. We are going to need a whole lotta boxes. Yikes. I am trying to use this time to toss things out and re-home items too. On the list of things to do is to read some of the shorter books on my shelves so that I can give them away. I am on my third one already.

Speaking of books, from the ones on my shelves that I hope to read in 2019:
- The All Souls Trilogy (Deborah Harkness)
- The Name of the Wind books (Patrick Rothfuss)
- The Inkheart books (Cornelia Funke)
- The Century Trilogy (Ken Follett)

Wish me luck! And be on the lookout for the 2019 reading challenge on January 2nd.

Have you been able to use up some of your smell goods/make up/perfume/candles/whatnot this year?

  1. I've been using up lots of wax and whatnot this year. Part of it is financial, part is decluttering/simplifying, and part is just lack of interest in shopping around and trying All The Things. lol

My wax stash is pretty much nonexistent at the moment. I have three 4-pks from Front Porch that will be set aside for next Christmas season. Other than that I have one last tart from Sweet Fixations and a pack of lemon cookie something from Walmart. Not sure if I'll place an order for some old favorites somewhere, or just buy a pack of BHG/Scentsationals here and there as needed.

We've been using up old partial candles this fall and winter. We've been using up less than favorite shampoos and soaps and lotions too the past couple months, stuff that has accumulated in the bathroom cabinets.

I did A LOT of decluttering in 2018, and hope to do tons more in 2019. Things I've held onto for so long that I thought were sentimental, well, they're really just clutter that hasn't been touched for years and years. I really want to get this house in shape for our older years when it's not so easy to get up and down the stairs and sort through what's piled up in the closets and attic.

    1. Is it feeling good to use it up or has it lost its luster? I got kind of excited for a second thinking about what it would feel like to actually use all the wax I have and start fresh again. I doubt I would go back to having so much on hand again though.

You are doing some great de-cluttering everywhere it sounds! I am hoping to use up what we have too. I will have some soaps to move but thinking not much more.

Are you still getting rid of your Charmed Tails trinkets? I keep looking around and thinking about what will go and what will stay too. You are my motivation to get rid of as much as I can. I love that you are simplifying your life like this. I hope it takes some burdens and weight off your shoulders. The attic. Yikes. The place of doom. LOL!

    2. I've been completely waxless a few times over the past year or so. It's quite a satisfying feeling, for me at least. When I think back to how much I used to have on a regular basis...wow. It feels like I enjoy it more when my options are limited. There are times though when the retail options just don't have what I'm craving and I end up finding a quick TAT vendor to fill the need.

My big collection is the Cherished Teddies, and then there is the much smaller collection of Mary's Moo Moos. I would still like to rehome them but don't want to deal with obnoxious bossy people online. Although, since I have yet to find anything to nicely take their place in the curio cabinet I might as well just get them back out storage and put them back in the cabinet again.

Our attic is actually just a slant roofed extra room off our bedroom so it's not too scary. But to go through all the stuff that's accumulated there will be just as scary as going into a proper creepy attic. LOL

    3. I have a feeling that I will derive more pleasure from it once I have it less often too.

      That's it! Mary's Moo Moos!!

Our attic is like visiting hell. It is always unbearable hot, your knees get splinters and there are rusty nails poking from every surface ready to impale you and incubate tetanus. I think I would rather have ghosts and cobwebs with room to stand.

  2. Yes, I plan on finally getting to the Name of the Wind books too, just so I can read The Slow Regard of Silent Things which is like, 2.5 in the series or something.

    1. I have the first two books but need the rest. I didn't know there were extras in the series. Thanks! I will look into that one.

  3. I used up SO much (you saw the dregs I was down to!) but now I've replaced it all again, and I'm probably good for the next year, barring anything really tempting out there. I hate moving with the fire of 1,000 suns, but I do always love the opportunity to go through my stuff and parse out the things I don't need any more - moves are nothing if not great for that, regrettably.

    1. I bet it felt good to use it up and then have some FRESH wax on hand for this year. I am coming to find out that having to touch everything I own has been a good experience so far. Lots of things donated, tossed and some cherished even more.
