Guys. Only one week of school left before Thanksgiving Break.

We picked up our turkey and a few supplies. I am still not 100% sure what I will be cooking but I am looking forward to it. There is a mild bit of family drama that keeps niggling the back of my mind over a miscommunication back in September that just won't heal. I have offered my apologies but they are being ignored.

My husband keeps telling me to not let it bother me but it does. I hate the feeling of not being forgiven. Of rifts not being repaired. But if I have learned anything through marriage class, it is that you cannot change anyone but yourself. So I just need to let it go. If they wish to be in the same room with me once again, I guess it will happen. I just need to learn to be ok with it if it doesn't.

So I resort back to counting my blessings and trying not to dwell on the negatives. Speaking of counting blessings... the next melting basket, the Thanksgiving one, will feature our family's Thankful Tree.

In the meantime I will be petting and squeezing on this furry friend. And engaging in some retail therapy. I may have placed my most epic Candles From The Keeping Room order to date. And I ordered a little from Rosegirls and my first Candy Panda scrub. I hope your week is beautiful my dears.

  1. Pour Girls? Never even heard of that one!

Family drama used to bother me to no end. We had one Thanksgiving several years ago that I still hold a grudge about. A family member opened a conversation that involved me, steered it into the touchy area it became, and then conveniently backed out and acted all innocent the rest of the time. I miss the old days of family gatherings but not the more recent ones where everyone had their own interests and seemed inconvenienced to be there.

Hope your holiday gathering is peaceful! And who knows, maybe the other party doesn't even realize it's as big of a problem as it might seem to be?

    1. So far the Pour Girls is nice. Smells more like rosemary mint but the throw is pleasant in the bedroom.

Kinda miss the ideal of the Rockwell painting gatherings. I am glad you will have a sweet and cozy Thanksgiving this year. I will try my best to as well. My kids, hubby, parents and sisters will be there and that will be nice.

Thank you! Maybe but the other party has ignored the olive branch and either blocked me on FB or left FB right after that. Ah well.

  2. I'm sorry to hear there is family drama in your life. I was actually just reading that for a lot of Americans, this Thanksgiving, hot on the heels of a most contentious election, is proving to be really difficult, because it seems like right now, people just want to fight. It feels that way in my world, too, and I'm Canadian, for beaver's sake. ;) But your Thanksgiving will be lovely, especially if you remember what you already know - you just CAN'T change how people feel. They'll come around on their own.

In the meantime, kitten belly and a retail overload is not a bad way to spend your time.

    1. I can only imagine. I bet it will be. This has easily been the most contentious election I have witnessed since being of age to vote. You are right. I will strive to be full of peace and give love to all. Thank you for taking the time to chat and get to know me. I have enjoyed reading your blog and becoming your friend.

Back to the scheduled programming of kitty bellies and wax tart sniffing. <3

    2. Me, too! Like online adult pen pals (which is fantastic, because when I was a kid, I was an awesome pen pal!) I've really enjoyed this, so much fun meeting so many great people. :)

  3. I'm sorry you are having some family drama! The holidays can be stressful enough without extra drama added in :/. I love that you mention that we cannot change anyone but ourselves, I will have to remember this in my own life. I'm like you in that if someone is mad at me it will bug me to no end, I like to tie loose ends.

What a beautiful kitty! I can't wait to see your recent orders. I've recently tried Candy Panda scrubs and love them! They're so scrubby!

    1. Me too. I think I have listened to too many sappy songs or heard too many stories where we never know if today is our last day so I want to have peace and love with everyone I can.

Thank you! I am so stoked about my recent splurges. CFTKR arrived yesterday and I cannot stop staring at the pastel colors. I think I will try to clean the house then photograph it today. I have lots of things to catch up on. Glad to hear you like your Candy Panda scrub! Mine arrived too and I am excited to dip my fingers into it. Scrubby is just what I want! <3

I hope you have a good weekend Gina!

  4. Gonna have to try a Candy Panda scrub someday, I'm so out of her restock loop. Love Pourgirls! I have some of their fall scents I'll be melting next week.
Didn't know you had a kitty! What's your furry friend's name? I love that you posted your pet when you needed comfort or release from a nagging worry. No one's better than a pet for such moments. I've dealt with more family drama in the past year than I have in my previous 38 combined. If I'm only half as stressed as last year's holidays I'll be truly thankful. Being open and positive to change is the best way to go.

    1. I am usually woefully out of her restock loop too but I finally saw she was open and I headed on over and picked up a scrub in a scent I adore... pink peppermint! I get a kick out of minty bathing products. Love that tingle.

Yes! I picked her up at the SPCA 10 years ago (before kids). Her name was Roxy at the SPCA but my husband did not want a cat so he said we can buy her if you name her a boy's name. So we came up with Tod. But the girls started calling her Toddles and it stuck. She is a total sweetheart. Loves to be pet and loved on. A real cuddle bug. I agree. She gives me much comfort. I am sorry to hear you are having family stress too. It really blows. I pray we both can have a peaceful holiday season. And I will do my best to have a gracious open heart.

      Have a beautiful weekend, Jay!

    2. Oh much less stress this year. One year further on from the pain of last year, which was spent reeling so soon after the loss of my brother. I'm actually looking forward to Thanksgiving this year.
Toddles seems appropriate. I'm a dog person, but thought if I had a cat, I'd name him Toonces (the driving cat) from my SNL heyday:)

    3. I totally remember Toonces. Loved watching SNL. Not so much now but from Will Farrell back I loved it.
