Ten Digit Creations: Anniversary Sale

Ten Digit Creations celebrated their 10 year anniversary earlier in January. That is quite a milestone in the wax world. There were some bumps along the way (you can read about it here) but by and large Amber has blazed a trail by offering quick TATs, affordable wax and a wide variety of scents, while adding in color, customization and a new wax formula as of late.

I picked up this loaf in a blend of Blackberry Frankincense and Cherry Tobacco for around $10 for a 14 ounce loaf. They are regularly priced $13 which is still less than a dollar an ounce. I love this blend of these two scents. The cherry tobacco imbues a rich chewy sweetness that smells of grandpa's pipe. Combined with the deep fruity spice of blackberry frankincense, the two marry in a heady example of a Moroccan holiday where English gentlemen in suits unwind in exotic locales. A small slice melted with a medium-strong throw in my larger living areas. I love it.

Twilight Woods- A Bath and Body Works dupe that contains berries, apricot and cypress woods.
I enjoy a good Twilight Woods dupe and this one seems to be just that. On cold it is much stronger than most versions I have sniffed. For some reason, for my nose, this one seems to be a notoriously light throwing scent. I will melt this in a basket soon to see how it goes once the heat is put to it. I am liking my chances right now though.

Birthday Cake Waffles smells wonderfully cozy. A caramel drizzled sweet waffle dessert, much like the one I enjoyed in Tokyo that was topped with ice cream and whipped cream. Mmmmmm. I look forward to melting this one too.

I won a $25 store credit during the anniversary celebrations and used it to pick up three more blends, one being for one of my friends who was missing Enchanted Candle Company's Roses in the Graveyard scent. So I mixed up some potting soil and Lush Rose Jam and I think it is pretty darn close.

Do you have any wax vendors that you miss? I am totally bummed that Kyme at Bohemienne Life is selling the rest of her stock and moving on to new endeavors. I am very happy she is blazing her path, but it is bittersweet as I do love her offerings. So... stock up while you can, my friends.

  1. So excited you love your loaf!! That combo was just stunning <3 Your picture, however, is the real winner here. Just gorgeous as always!! Glad to hear you're enjoying the new paraffin formula, and can't wait until you melt some of the bakery scents to see the difference in throw :) Really appreciate your business!

    1. Thanks Amber! I am very excited with this combo! You have some of the most amazing oils. I very much enjoy your new wax formula. It throws like a beast. I am going to melt that waffle birthday cake soon. <3

  2. I love ordering from Amber! Her wax is great, she's almost always open for orders, her TAT is really fast and she has a huge scent list to choose from! Plus, she rocks those hippie/earthy scents! I definitely order from her the most, but then I also melt her wax the most, too. That owl is adorable! I'd have a hard time melting him ;).
I'm sad to hear about Kyme, too. Her soaps and wax crack are works of art!

    1. I love all those things about TDC too. The hippy/earthy scents are what I crave and she always has fabulous ones in stock. I will absolutely have a hard time melting that owl. So much detail! You can see every feather! Kyme's news totally bums me out.

  3. A vendor that I miss is Country Home Scents, and that is going waaaaay back to the early days of wax melts. You could barely find melts in retail stores at the time but the indie world of wax melts was already exploding. CHS was one of the very first I'd tried, via Etsy, and immediately became my favorite.

What I miss more than any particular vendor is the ease of ordering that we had back then.

I haven't ordered from TDC in forever. Perhaps I'll give the site a browse today, but if I remember correctly their scent list leans towards the types of scents I don't get into.

    1. You know what I liked about Country Home Scents even though I never got to order form her (she closed right as I was getting into it)... I loved that each scent shot shape came decorated individually and was packed in a pouch. It was the cutest thing ever. My first Etsy vendor was Scent Appeal and I loved her wax too.

Ordering was so much easier wasn't it?

Amber has some great bakery scents now. You should check it out Deb.

    2. Scent Appeal! Yes! I was trying to think of that name. I'd just gotten into her late in the game. She impressed me with her willingness to work on a blend, and then she was gone. :(

I'd probably still be ordering TONS more wax if the ordering process had stayed simple and normal.

    3. Was her name Kelly? I forget, but I loved her stuff too. She introduced me to Blue Sugar and Peppermint combo for the first time. Mmmmmm.

Maybe it is a good thing it isn't so easy anymore LOL!

    4. I had to look back at my old haul post. Her name was Lisa. I'd been on the hunt for Baby, It's Cold Outside (pretty much just Pink Peppermint) and Lemon Noel, and she agreed to make both for me. This was back in 2012. Wow, so long ago now!

  4. 10 years is an incredible milestone, one of the longest I've heard. Congrats to Amber! That owl is perfect, hope she melts up nicely. Sort of off-topic, but I saw an owl up-close last month and it made my day!
After the announcement of some wax shop closures, I started working on a retired wax blog postand melting through my stash of vendors no longer around, it seems there's quite a bit of moving on lately. I'll be interested to see what this year brings. I'll also be taking note of all your fave TDC blends in oh, say, 6 months when I'm buying wax again! (insert crying emoji)

    1. It truly is quite an achievement. I am so excited you saw that owl!!!! I will talk more about him on the next post.

I think it is still worthwhile to blog the scents of retired vendors in the case that sometimes they open back up down the road (LSC did this) and also some people buy destashes of their scents and are curious about the performance and scent.

Six months!! Nice! My low buy did well, for me, this month. Next month I am reducing it a touch more and then the following too until I get down to one order and then evaluate where I am at that time.

    2. Eh, six month is pretty lofty. I split one order with my sis in Jan, and am abstaining until at least May. Wish me willpower;)

I agree about the retired vendors, I regret not trying more LSC.

    3. You totally have this! I know you are one strong lady.

Pam did tell me that she will be opening back up for an RTS and then again to use up any oils she has remaining. So maybe a few more openings in the cards?

  5. That loaf sounds lovely and it's so beautiful!
I did place my first TDC purchase in January. I melted Patchouli Mint you gifted me and oh my wow!! I had to place an order for more earthy goodness blends. I've been a slow turtle and melting every scent, even though I'm super excited to warm up each one.. I just want to really enjoy the process and not melt through too quickly in excitement. ;)
I am beyond bummed about Bohemienne Life and LSC going out. I totally understand and support both ladies decisions, but a selfish part of me wants to shop, buy and enjoy their lovely goodies for years and years. I am super grateful for even trying anything from both those vendors. <3

    1. Thanks!! The blend really is fabulous. I will save a a few slices to send to you. So happy you liked the Patchouli Mint as much as I do! I love that combo. I love that you are savoring your wax. <3

I am bummed too. I am happy they are going on to new things or trying to slow down and take care of themselves. It is a very personal and important decision, but they will be missed. I hope Pam does her RTS restock of her remaining scents.

    2. Just a little FYI about the Patchouli Mint.... now that I'm offering the Patchouli as a top shelf fragrance, you can blend it with Peppermint Twist to achieve the Patchouli Mint :) The cost of that patchouli is so high, hence the higher cost, but at least it's now an option. Glad you both love it! I appreciate the love and support <3

    3. Aw, Julie, you don't have to save me any. ;) <3 It does sound divine!!
Thank you for the blending tip, Amber! I love patchouli, I love mint and I can't say I'd ever think to combine the two, but it is pure heaven!

    4. @Amber- Ooooooo! Good to know!! I may have to make some more once I melt through my stash of it. But I still have a few chunks left. <3
