Watching:
Nothing really. I have been reading and trying to be outside as much as possible despite the rain. So watching birds. Watching my wildflowers bloom. Watching my girls read. Watching the rain emboss the windows. Watching my husband laugh with our daughters. Watching candles flicker. Watching my grey hairs emerge experience by experience, day by day, with the knowledge that I am ever revolving.
Reading:
Anything I can get my hands on. I read Wonder (then watched the movie with my girls since we all read it) and Needful Things (not sure if I want to watch the movie). Reading Neverwhere and gearing up for my summer reads.
Listening:
To Bob Marley as we garden and landscape.
Awaiting:
A break in the rain so I can take the girls to the beach or some springs. Also. Maine.
Dreading:
The dentist. I ran out of my gum tonic. Flossing as not been my habit. My front teeth are starting to separate too. Is this common? Soon I will be sporting a smile like Madonna.
Hit:
Life Flower bath bombs... boy howdy... I am in trrrrouble! I will talk more about these soon. Plus I am really enjoying some shirts I picked up at Curbside Clothing. Super soft. I love the Men's 3/4 sleeve shirts.
Miss:
Can't think of anything I tried this month that I didn't like (other than some dried orange and lemon slices from Trader Joe's). I will say that garden bugs are getting a hard pass from me right now. Our corn was infested with roaches and beetles, our watermelon with weevils and stink bugs and being organic is a tough row to hoe. We dug up most of our crops that were past harvest. We enjoyed the fruits of our labors for the most part but now I am paranoid that roaches will make the short trip from our backyard to into our home. Ew. So far the tomatoes, okra and carrots are doing well still.
Low:
Nothing much. The last weeks of school were crazy but here I am still breathing and functioning so it wasn't all that bad.
High:
Visiting my grandma. Seeing an Indigo Bunting. And that wonderful sore feeling when you engaged in a lot of physical activity (landscaping). I forget how good it feels to push your body.

How was your May? Is it warming up? Is it your rainy season? What are your plans for June?
I had to stop reading Needful Things not very far into it. I'm not usually too squeamish, but the BAD was piling up very quickly and there were so many more pages to go lol! The bizarro weather is wreaking havoc with plants this year--the rose bush on my patio was doing beautifully and then suddenly developed black spot. Whatever in the world does "They're Heeere" smell like?? (I am almost afraid to ask!)
ReplyDeleteI could totally see that. It was pretty much a highlight of the ugliness and greed of man. Thankfully I knew that evil probably wouldn't overcome and just kept rooting for the sheriff to pull the rabbit out of the hat. I am reading The Dark Half now and it is kind of funny reading the Castle Rock stories out of order.
DeleteOh no!! Are you able to combat the black spot? The weather has been non-stop rain over here. Normally I don't mind but I am kind of ready to head to the beach.
They're Heeeere is basically pink peppermint and marshmallow. I am a sucker for pink peppermint scents. :-)
How do you like the Tauer perfume??? Worth getting a sample of it?
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it! I like that Andy offers Discovery sets and some of his best sellers in a 5ml perfume size that is affordable. I love his Attar scent too. You should sample some of his ares. They are very intense.
DeleteLooking forward to hearing about bath bombs. Cate Be is bath bomb enabler! I got some from Kush Queen she has shown on her feed. They smell nice but I am not sure if I felt any CBD effects.
ReplyDeleteI am due for the dentist and have teeth moving also. Instead of getting braces again I have mouth guard thing similar to Invisalign but I am not good about wearing it. Adding that to my to do list while I am not working.
I missed out on the Coal Miners Daughter sale but maybe will get a Woodland Smoke roll-on. Vetiver is beckoning.
I don't know anything about gardening or farming, I picked up a copy of Barbara Kingsolver's book about she and her family growing their own food. Maybe gardening stores sell organic pesticides? I guess that is the dilemma with pesticdes, organic or not, not good for people.
We have had some summer days here and there but mostly it has been mild which is unusual. Time for hiking.
Cate is totally an enabler. I just picked up her Goddess mug. I AM SO EXCITED!!
DeleteI really truly dislike going to the dentist. I take pretty good care of my teeth but still feel like they lecture me every stinking time. I wonder if I will need braces?
I almost popped Woodland Smoke into my order but subbed it out for the mushroom hot cocoa instead. I might regret that. I can just wait for another sale though.
I LOVE Barbara Kingsolver. She is an amazing author. There are definitely biological controls for pests but I am too negligent of a gardener for that at the moment. I am just happy we grew things to eat. When we move I might get more diligent. I felt like this was my trial garden. I do hand pick and crush the pests and eggs when I can but it is not near enough to make a dent.
YAY! Hiking!!! Enjoy your weather! Guess what?! My sister Lindsey might be headed to NYC for her Honeymoon with her hubby. I am so excited for her to be back in the city.
Glad you had a good May! I’ve been enjoying myself quite a bit the last couple months too, with my DC trip and hanging out with friends here and there. I’ve been buying a lot less bath & body/wax this year, only special orders like Glitterati and CocoaPink. I’ve managed to use up several full sized items for the first time in years, including body butters and shower gels. I’m glad BBW SAS is starting this week though because I’m actually out of hand sanitizer and low on soap. Of course I always have to collect something and replaced those addictions with Lularoe clothing and vintage carnival glass pieces and jewelry. Oh well, at least they don’t expire.😂
ReplyDeleteThank you! You definitely looked like you had a great month! I am so happy for you. How great does it feel to use up goodies?! I am in the same boat. I have only one scrub left and maybe a handful of soaps (and a few of those were gifted to me). So I am loving that aspect of using it up too. More space. ;-) Carnival glass! How fun! I was just reading that Stephen King book and one of the ladies loved carnival glass and I had no idea what it was so I looked it up. Very pretty stuff. And I would love to see your new jewelry! I love jewelry. <3
