Sea Wolves- Notes: Smoky bergamot, algid rain, blood cedar, wolf fur accord, marine eelgrass and a drop of palo santo. $26
Julia re-released several of her previous Coast of Cascadia collection scents from summers past but she also created this new scent called Sea Wolves, inspired by the wolves that dwell within the Great Bear Rainforest and swim along the British Columbia coast. Based on the notes I knew this would ring all my chimes. And it does.
In the bottle it is warm and smoky but also glimmers with the aged orange rind and soft Earl Grey glow of bergamot. Beaded onto the skin the oil softly growls with smoky bergamot and palo santo incense. The growl deepens in the heart where it becomes a touch animalic and musky, incredibly sexy and dare I say... wolfish? Seriously though, I love a nice tang of animal skank in my perfume. The heart quickly settles into the cedar and more palo santo smoke which casts a soft green musk hue that brings to mind austere guaiacwood and agarwood. Deep. Dark. Smoky and sacred. I will be wearing this perfume down to the last drop. I think I will need a back up.
If velveteen woods with a touch of smoke and a dose of incensed musk is your thing you would love this perfume.
Hey! Guess what?! I finished unpacking!! I am so very excited. I also picked up a few gallons of paint to get started on decorating. I am finally feeling settled in and like the place is really ours. We have had ravens, a hawk, cardinals, tufted tit mice, woodpeckers and even some monarchs around our house. I am excited to see what other critters come to visit. But no wolves. Not yet.
Ugh, the wildlife has already come to greet you and I haven't even congratulated you on your new home and getting through the move! I'm so sorry! But all the best wishes in your new home from us here in Ottawa - it's so fantastic that it's starting to feel like your nest. Takes a while sometimes, especially if you've got any improvements or renos you want to do in the meantime (oh lordy, so I know about THAT!) But that's really so wonderful, yay for you guys!
ReplyDeleteNo worries! I know you are busy too! Are you guys planning any Disney trips soon? How have your renovations gone? Are things finally settling into place? Are you loving it?
DeleteYou're so inspiring! I'm so glad that you're all settled in. We haven't finished unpacking/organizing/decorating and we've been here now 6 months! So happy for you <3
ReplyDeleteThank you! The decorating part will definitely take more time but I am just happy to have the garage empty and ready for car parking. Hope your summer is going well.
