Melting Basket 141: The first basket in our new home and a GIVEAWAY!

Would ya look at this?! The one hundred and forty-first basket of weekly wax I cobbled together to melt is the very first one in my new home. I only have one melter going in the kitchen right now and I may set one up in my bedroom once I get a nightstand. But I think that will do it. I tend to enjoy a candle in the living room at the moment. I am not going to talk about the wax in the last basket since that was back in April (yikes!). But here are the wax tarts in this basket:

Three Ravens Co.- Myrkwood
Handmade in Florida- Moroccan Mint Tea
Bonjour Wax Co- Cabin in the Woods <3 gift
Bohemienne Life- Wise Woman
Sniff My Tarts- Candy Cane/Marshmallow/Lord of Misrule
Pixie and Toad- unknown scent in a dragon shape <3 gift
Ten Digit Creations- Bamboo Teak/Dragon's Blood/Teakwood and Coconut
TSGS (?)- Patchouli Vanilla Teakwood Rose <3 gift
The Bathing Garden- Widow's Walk
The Bathing Garden- Rosemary Mint
The Bathing Garden- Winter Woodland
The Bathing Garden- Blackberry Balsam
CFTKR- Celtic Moonspice
CFTKR- Crafternoon
CFTKR- Garden Mint
CFTKR- Creamy Peppermint Serendipity

If you would like any of these reviewed in depth, just let me know which ones and I will make a post.

I am deriving much pleasure from nesting right now. Gathering up trinkets and putting them in their places, painting rooms, hanging pictures. Each day settles the murky waters so more sunlight can filter through and clear the vision.

Small pleasures right now include: falling into bed with huge relief and tired aching feet, lighting a new candle, weeding the butterfly garden by the front door, driving down new roads, spending time with the girls running errands or organizing their rooms.

I have discovered I have enough wax to last a year and a half or so. I have my two three-drawer storage bins and a long shallow Rubbermaid under the bed chock full. Even though I have no business ordering wax I do have my Sniff My Tarts order here to review and I placed a small order with Handmade in Florida and Bohemienne Life.

I do have a nice little giveaway though!

To thank you guys for sticking in here with me these past few slow months I want to share some wax fun.

I have a $25 store credit coupon code to Vintage Chic Scents to giveaway. Since she just restocked I don't want to wait too long so please comment below with what the best thing to happen to you this summer has been. One random winner will be drawn tomorrow (Friday) night before I go to bed.

  1. Yay for wax posts! I'm curious about the CFTKR Creamy Peppermint Serendipity. Actually, just the Creamy Peppermint sounds like my kind of holiday scent.

Love this giveaway! Vintage Chic is one I've enjoyed when I've had it, but have rarely ordered from. Thanks for offering this chance to win. :)

    1. Oh! I forgot to answer the giveaway question! The best thing that happened to me this summer was quitting my job. It had become way too stressful and draining, and I feel a thousand times better now. :)

    2. I LOVE Creamy Peppermint Serendipity. I will review it for sure. VCS is one of those vendors I love to get an order from but don't order from often enough. I am so happy you quit too and I think you have a lot of fun projects on board that will keep you busy and having a great time hopefully. <3

  3. Best thing by far this summer has been seeing one of my bestest friends after what seems like ages! Going to visit and enjoying her company and conversation was heart warming and reassuring. She's my ray of sunshine and I love her! Plus she make these awesome grilled cheese sandwiches;)

    1. Is that the one in Washington DC?! If so, I loved popping in there and seeing the stunning artwork this past spring. We didn't get to stay very long but the images we saw were breathing taking.

  5. The variety of flowers you have is lovely, especially those fat purple blooms, a type of mum? My friend Rach shared some of her Cosmos which I planted in May and they're blooming! Reminded me of your wildflower patch

I think a few of these were gifts from me, TSGS is That Smell Good Shop, whom I'm really pleased with, except for their patchouli:/ sorry bout that, maybe it will hit the right note for you. I was so sad to see Bonjour close, a favorite of both Rachael's and my sister's. Good news is I'm directing them to different companies-TDC and Bohemienne Life. My sister can't order with VCS bc she refuses to get Paypal, lol. If I won I'd pass the cert onto her. I'm quite happy Kirby offers more open restocks now which led me to order for the first time since fall of 2016.
Enjoy the sweet scents in your new home!
Oh, I think I missed the it, but my fave so far this summer has been my 1st ever sisters trip to SC and enjoying one last summer with Johnny<3

    1. I just love wildflowers. So much. Their bright sunny faces bring a smile to mine when I see them. I took these flower photos in North Carolina. I haven't yet figured out how or where I want to make my own wildflower patch here in our new home. I am still mulling it over. I love that a friend gifted you flowers. That makes them even more magical. I think they were the Bight Lights Cosmos?? They are some of my favorite. So cheery.

They were from you!! I enjoyed TSGS. It was really nice. I had no idea Bonjour closed. How sad. I was meaning to buy from her again since she got rid of the palm wax. Bummer. THat cabin scent was AMAZING.

Congrats!!! Looks like your sister gets a VCS shopping trip! I will message you the $25 code. <3

I loved seeing your photos of your sister trip. I love sister trips. They are a great way to bond and make memories. And I hope your last summer with Johnny is sweet and full of licks and snuggles.

  6. Yay melting basket!!
I'm glad there is so much you're enjoying. How lovely and wonderful! <3
I know I'm late, but still wanna answer your question ;) The best thing to happen for me this Summer is definitely keeping my health on track: eating from the garden, daily exercise and learning about new plants/nutritive herbs, etc. I still have a long way to go, but hitting a nice groove here.

    1. Thanks!! I missed making melting baskets!!! It is nice to have a warmer going again.

I am so proud of you for taking these steps towards your health. I am about to dive into a book about eating local fruit and veg and such and I am hoping it gives me the kick I need to re-focus on that aspect of my own health. I have a ton of herbal books too I need to soak in. Keep up the good work and feel free to pass on any tidbits. <3 Happy summer, April!

Feel free to pass on any titles to me, as I have a lot of reading and learning to do, too. :)

    4. The herbal books I have on my shelf to read: The Herb Book by John Lust, The Way of Herbs by Michael Tierra, Mother Nature's Herbal by Judith Griffin and The New Holistic Herbal by David Hoffman. I do have a more magical one called Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs by Scott Cunningham but that is more just for light fun reading for me. I am looking forward to reading them. Some are more reference based rather than bookish but I want to read through regardless. What books do you have??

I am excited Jay's sister got the code too!! I hope she gets some great smellies!

    5. OH, I'll have to look into all those titles! Thanks!
I just read Maria Noel Groves, Body Into Balance An Herbal Guide to Holistic Self Care. I flipped through both Midwest Medicinal Plants and Master Recipes from the Herbal Apothecary and one Rosemary Gladstar book.
I need to search my library database for some new to me books or fresh reading.
Sorry for the late reply and I really hope you're feeling better and you're all easing more into the new school year, space, home, etc. <3 <3
