Olfactif Artisan Perfume Subscription: July

July's Olfactif box arrived with a beautiful theme: The Sun, The Moon, The Stars.

I continue to be impressed by Olfactif's consistent delivery and immaculate packaging. I like knowing the box and placard will be of high quality and will follow a known format. The cost is still $18 per month with an $18 discount towards any full bottle.

Fils de Dieu by Etat Libre d'Orange- Notes include: Ginger, coriander leaves, lime, shiso, coconut, rice, cardamom, jasmine, cinnamon, May rose, tonka bean, vetiver, musk, amber, leather, castoreum.
The sun. Morning eyes open and bright rays of lime greet you. Top notes of the morning. The zest  of ginger fueling energy to start the day. A heart of noon brings thoughts of lunch: spiced coconut Jasmine rice adding creamy heaviness as the sun beats down from its apex. Green vetiver garnishes the plate. The drydown of evening lends an intimate sunset of suede. Leather worn cozy by tonka and amber. A hint of animal still inside. $85 for 50 ml EDP.

Me, Myself & I by Ego Facto- Notes include: Hemlock flower, basil, tuberose, lavender, vetiver root, guaiacwood.
The moon. A glowing full bellied stone hung on the neck of the indigo sky. The flowers and herbs feel cool and dewy, offering their perfume heavenward, touching the silver midnight beams. Lavender features prominently and at her best angle. Not too sharp or sterile, but natural and magical. $100 for 50 ml EDP.

Romantina by Juliette Has A Gun- Notes include: Orange blossom, jasmine, rose, iris, osmanthus, patchouli, musk, vanilla.
The stars. Effervescent orange blossoms, sparkling jasmine, and bubbly young rose buds do indeed twinkle like prismatic gems tossed across the black satin sky. Vibrant, romantic and sweet. As it dries the iris, osmanthus, and vanilla laced patchouli provide a warmer, more steady glow. The satin sky turned velvet while the stars still dance, just more slowly. $90 for 50 ml EDP.

I have been wanting to try a fragrance from Juliette Has A Gun and Romantina is a youthful and sexy scent that helps satisfy that need. I have tried some incredibly unique and tongue-in-cheek scents from Etat Libre d'Orange and Fils de Dieu was just as pleasant an experience. The Ego Facto perfume, Me, Myself & I,  felt really serene yet ephemeral. I do wish it stuck around a little longer but was stunningly beautiful none the less.

Once again I am hard pressed to pick a favorite. I would love a lavender like Me, Myself & I in my collection but the dry down of Romantina makes me swoon. And the broad metamorphosis of Fils de Dieu is mesmerizing. I want them all. Which of these sounds like your favorite? The sun, moon or stars?

  1. What a cool theme! I love the attention to detail and that the vials are all the same size. Never heard of any of these brands, but I am attracted to fruity and citrusy scents so I think I would go for Fils de Dieu. The stars one sounds great, except for the iris - it can be tricky for me. Have a great weekend, thank you for the review!

    1. It's funny you mention the vials being the same size. I like that too. And the fact that there are no images or colors or branding to distract me really helps me to hone in on the scent itself much easier. You should really look into Etat Libre d'Orange. It is such an off-beat and unique brand. I hope you have a great weekend too! Mine will be spent traveling north to the mountains for our vacation. Yippee!!

    1. Thank you!! I LOVE getting this box! Your ipsy is fun too though. I think you would like the moon as well. Does ipsy contain perfume sometimes?
