Juliana on Instagram helped me with this basket. I was wanting another theme and she suggested beachy. How perfect?! A nice way to celebrate the LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL! If you see anything you would like to have reviewed in the basket, please let me know.

So my new lens came in. I opted for a refurbished 35mm 1.8G AF-S DX for my old Nikon D40 that I use. I wanted the 50mm but with the D40 it does not have auto-focus and this gal needs auto-focus still. Shooting manual is great fun but manual focus and I are not acquainted. I am really excited but now you will have to go through the awkward phase of watching me learn to use it. Hopefully you will see some improvement as I continue to practice.

My bleeding hearts are all a'bloom. My mom bought this plant for me at The Barn years ago and it loves where it was planted. One of the few plants I have not killed off. It's the small things.

I have had a difficult May. My health, work and morale have hit an all-time low. The only way I can get through one more second, minute, hour of the day during the week is to count my blessings in my head. The tears still come. The anger still rages. The blues still fall on me like a veil. But I can get out of bed. I can see light at the end of the tunnel... lazy summer days with my girls, reuniting with girlfriends, and the family getaway to the mountains. I know this season of difficulty will come to an end. It is just not knowing how much farther that is hard. Do you have cycles and seasons of distress? What do you do to help get through them?

  1. I do struggle with distress, and I'm learning to pick my battles more carefully. I'm also getting better at letting the emotion have its moment, and then moving on. It's really takes an effort sometimes but shifting focus to something else, even temporarily, helps me get past the 'Why am I always miserable?!' part.

You have a lot of fun coming up this summer and I'm looking forward to seeing the highlights thru your great new lens! =)

    1. Letting my emotions run through me without trying to stopper them helps a lot. As long as I do it, alone and then leave it behind, it seems to help. I will definitely keep up the refocusing part. Remembering all the beautiful things going on my life helps but I am lacking in the physically engaging myself area. I probably should start a quilting or sewing project so it helps me climb out of my own mind a bit more. Refocus in a different way. Thank you. I will try that. Goodness knows I have enough UFO's around here (Un Finished Objects).

Thank you Deb. You're a gem. I will be taking a ton of photos I know! I needs lots of practice. <3

  2. I just read from you about Lasting Scent Candles and went to order and they are closing. It seems like wax is so hard to get with selective openings or even quite a few getting out of the wax business. What are your top five that you would purchase from without a long TAT? Thanks :D

    1. Hi Lynda! LSC will be still opening a few times to sell off the rest of their stock so you still have a few chances. The openings are announced on their FB business page. I caught an opening last week. I hope you can too!

Short TAT, almost always open vendors I love: Ten Digit Creations, Sugar & Spice Soy Gourmet, Alamo Candelaria are my top three. Short TAT but open/close sporadic ordering: CFTKR, VCS. People also enjoy Lake Prividence Lodge, Dessa's, and Shayz. There is a more comprehensive list on the Wax Tart Reference page above. Thank you for stopping by and reading! Let me know who you order from!

  3. I'm sorry things have been stressful lately. I've also had a rough time and have totally fallen behind in reading everyone else's pages and catching up with stuff. I hope things get better very soon! Sending hugs <3

  4. Sorry to hear that you're going through a rough patch, Julie. Life is illusory! I have looked through your blog on numerous occasions and envied your products, kids, home and style. The other man's grass is always greener? So it seems...

On a far brighter note, I look forward to an upcoming review of the Olfactif June sampler which I received yesterday. All three are very unique, unisex fragrances that I really, really like!!

    1. Thank you Kevin. I definitely have my own struggles and blessings and baggage. My life is nothing to envy for sure. I bet you have some pretty amazing grass too :-)

I can't wait to get my Olfactif!!! Once I read that they were award winners recently I knew they would be great! Kevin you have me giddy to sniff them!!!!
