I am trying to rise out of the fog of a strange purgatory we have been floating in the past week.

No school, no power for many, no routine. It was hard to remain constant in anything during those chaotic several days.

Monday saw me headed back to work and I was ready to be there. Rescheduling conferences that were missed, signing up for certification exams and registering for college... again. It all feels surreal and I bit all my nails off worrying about whether I would pass now that I am so far removed from those agriscience days and if I would be able to juggle work, home, family and school again.

But this is my path. I am being stretched again and yes it is uncomfortable at the moment, but new and better and shinier things will come of it.

It is time to remind myself to take one day at a time. One test at a time. One course at a time.

And for something cheerful:

"By all these lovely tokens,
September days are here,
With summer's best of weather,
And autumn's best of cheer."
- Helen Hunt Jackson

How is your September rolling along? Is the fall bringing any changes? Challenges? Stretching?

  1. Review the Honey Crisp Cider, please. I just recently melted that one and I'm curious what you'll think of it.

I like that quote! I saw it the other day in planner video I was watching. I'd never heard it before and now it's popped up twice for me.

Fall is bringing lots of changes here. The colors are exploding everywhere now. I think our dip into the chilly weather jump started things. Fall is bringing changes at work. Fall is bringing some of my TV shows back for new seasons. And fall seems to be bringing a bunch of personal changes for me, many for the better, I think.

Good luck on your exams and new changes. I'm sure 'You got this!' since you always seems to come ahead with whatever drops into you path.

    1. I would be happy to review it! I actually have a post scheduled for this one and the Rustic Kitchen one but I just haven't gotten around to finishing it. I will do that.

It must be kismet. I saw it and loved it too when I was searching quotes for September. I used it as a writing prompt for my kids at school. I enjoyed it so much I wanted to use it here too.

I am hoping all your changes are for the better too. Fall football! Don't forget that. What fall TV shows are you gearing up for? So excited for you to have all those fall colors surrounding you. I wish I could go up north a bit and see them.

Thank you. I will take all the positive thoughts and wishes and prayers I can get. It take the subject area exam on October 7th. I have not done so hot on the practice exams I have taken but I plan on studying pretty hard here soon.

    2. Lucifer is returning on Oct. 2, and I think The Magicians is returning soon but haven't checked on when. Suits and Game of Thrones just finished. Vikings usually returns around November, I think, but I don't know if I'll keep watching. Ivar... *puke*

Ohhhhhh, teacher needs to study! Now your girls can ask YOU if you're homework is done.

    3. Lucifer and Suits are on my wish list to binge watch. Ivar does make me feel pukey. But I may still watch. Versailles is another one I want to watch. GoT... grumble grumble grumble.

Yes. They certainly can. But this test costs $220 and if I fail it I will cry tears for sure. Maybe they can help quiz me. It will be questions about soil horizons, what happens if dairy goats are fed more fiber, when did the Future Farmers of America get founded and describe Integrated Pest Management... a ton of technical jargon and trivia that I have woefully forgotten. Time to brush up on the old agriculture.

    4. Versailles! Yes!!! Forgot about that one. And there is a new one coming, something about the Knights Templar or something. Gah, can't think of the name.

I just checked and Magicians isn't returning until spring. Boo.

I have Lucifer and Suits on DVD if you even want me to send them.

Gah. What does happen to the goats?!

    5. Yes. I read a fun YA series about the Knights Templar and would love to watch a show about it.

I might have to take you up on the DVDs, but let me check and make sure Netflix or Amazon doesn't have it first. You were my Tudors hook up. <3

Their milk gets fattier and creamier. Not a bad thing. :-)

  2. Oh look at you adding even more to your plate! But I know you are proud (we all are of you!) Especially going back to school and getting even more education. I know you may be nervous but it'll all work out in the end! You got this!
I'm so glad to hear that all is safe and well on your end after the storm and returning back to normal.

    1. Thank you so much Jessica. Your support means a lot to me. <3
I think of you often and hope things are going well for you. Xoxo

  3. Hey buddy:) I've been incredibly busy the past week, partly because my boss was sick since Tuesday which increases my workload (it's a two-woman show at my library). I've also been exhausted lately, got an upcoming Dr's appt, so I'll ask if there's anything I can do about that. I shred my poor nails too when I'm anxious, with speech season coming up, I should give up and succumb to the nubs.
Wishing you such luck in school and on exams!

I have to say your landscape/mountain photos are breathtaking, though I found it so sad to see the tree disease occurring atop Clingman's Dome. I wonder if the spread of disease has been abating?

    1. I hope your boss heals soon! And I hope you can put your feet up and rest so you don't get run down. The nubbin season. I am definitely in one of those. I just picked up some textbooks to study on Ag Mechanics, Ag Fundamentals and Ag Education and Robert's Rules of Order. Gah. Wishing you luck on speech season as well. Your kiddos will do great!

Yes, you could tell there was something wrong with the trees right around the dome. But the rest looked hale and hearty. So not sure if it was coming or going . Hopefully going. The views were spectacular. I hope we can go back again one day.
