NovelTeas: Pride & Peppermint

My friend Jay at The Candle Enthusiast tagged me in an IG giveaway from Novel Teas a short while ago, Lady Luck smiled down on me and I won. <3 They shipped me a paperback tea tin refill in Pride & Peppermint ($14), an additional refill pack (not sure on the value but it is appreciated!), a Mr. Darcy bookmark with artwork by Lily Seika Jones, rivuletpaper on IG ($3) and a vintage bookplate sticker.

Pride & Peppermint is a blend of rooibos, chamomile and peppermint, a caffeine free blend that is perfect for any time of day. I love the blending of flavors. It has more depth and dimension than a plain peppermint blend. I added a touch of honey and it made a perfect cup of hot tea.

I look forward to becoming a Novel Tea customer and wish to add every tin they create to my home, especially Matcha Do About Nothing and The Picture of Early Grey. <3

I also picked up some teas from Wick & Fable. Do you have any indie handcrafted tea vendors that you enjoy? Please share! Especially if they are geeky.

  1. Very cool! Congratulations on your win. :)

Tea is not my thing, but do you come across indie cocoa vendors ever?

    1. Thanks! I was really surprised and thrilled to be a chosen one. <3

Oooooo! Yes! I don't know if you ever saw it but I did a review on Grimoire Tea with the Harry Potter wax sealed jars?? They sell flavored cocoas and one is a Butterbeer one. I was meaning to try them but I have not gotten back there. Maybe we should look into it!

  2. Such pretty pics, very romantic, and I don't think I'd seen your Grim cup before you posted on IG, it's so special.
I'm glad you like the tea, I'm considering backing their next kickstarter, but I actually just filed a support claim for never receiving my last kickstarter reward (different vendor) so I need to assess the risk. Matcha ado about nothing looks good to me too, and a Shakespeare reference will get me every time. That Darcy bookmark is gorgeous, I love the Victorian look to this flavor, but I'm not really a chamomile tea fan, which is weird cause I enjoy it in body care, how is the rooibos, I usually like those. Enjoy your cuppa:)

Because Deb asked and since you posted the Grimoire teas awhile ago, I started following Grimoire Tea and ordered some of their flavored hot cocoas, more are supposed to be released in October.

    1. My sister bought me that cup and saucer for Christmas last year and I had not gotten around to featuring it. I love it. Thank you. <3

Oh no! So sorry to hear about the Kickstarter that didn't pull through. That stinks. I have a feeling they would honor this though. I love Shakespeare themed things too. And I really enjoyed The Picture of Dorian Gray. I think the rooibos really adds a nice depth to the peppermint and chamomile. Keeps it from being too light and linear.

Oh!! How exciting!! I do hope you review them as I was eyeing the Butterbeer one pretty darn hard. I already consumed all my Grimoire teas. They were pretty good. I even blended a few together.

  5. Well, that's just darn adorable. Great find, Jay, and great luck, Julie. :)

I'm reading The Stand right now. What tea blend goes with THAT, do you suppose?

    1. Thanks! I really cannot thank Jay enough for entering me. <3

The Stand... that is Stephen King? Lemme check...yep! I don't think I have read that one. You are on a nice King kick! You make me want to dive back in. I read "It" when I was a teen but I am kinda sorta wanting to re-read it but I know it really put a whallopping on me. Hmmmm. Maybe I dip my toe back in with something more tame by him.

As far as The Stand tea? How about some Laplague Souchong? Ok. That was just.... bad.

    2. Ha, no, that was very good punnage! For real, though, people so much as sneeze near me these days and I'm dousing them in Lysol and running for the hills. That book is freaking me out hard.

And yes, good old Stephen King - he's my favourite writer, and I'm just running with a list of the books I haven't yet read (surprisingly many.)

It is one I've never managed to get more than a quarter of the way through, if that, but I've certainly tried three or four times. I just can't get by the giant, eight-page domestic violence-a-thon that opens the girl-of-the-gang's portion of the book, and then that horrible group sex scene? I know Stephen King has freely admitted that he was off the rails (or ON the rails) pretty well all the time in the '80s, but honestly, man, WHAT were you on when you came up with this stuff? I love so much of his work, but I've never been able to get on board with It. Definitely start with something a bit tamer. I'd recommend Duma Key, but it involves hurricanes, and you're dealing with frightening enough stuff right now that's real without adding that to the mix. :(

    3. It was pretty awful with that whole sewer sex scene. But I guess reading it as a teen was best because things are so weird and skewed at that age that something like that doesn't seem too far out of the realm of plausible. Now I would want to jump in the book and spank every single one of them.

I have read a ton of Stephen King, not nearly all, but a good chunk. I did tell you in your Duma post that I had read that one. I quite enjoyed it. :-) I so remember not enjoying the whole Desperation book/series? It was too out there for me. I think I will look about and see what other books he has. Thanks!

    4. Durr, I'm an idiot, you've told me MULTIPLE times that you've read Duma Key - sorry, not sure why that one isn't sticking! But seriously, you DO NOT need to read endless passages about hurricane-ravaged Floridian flora and fauna right now, I'm sure.

It seems like it's poised to make about a bajillion dollars this weekend. Mike from Stranger Things is in it, so I'm delighted, of course (also delighted that that sex scene has apparently not made it into this new version; a very good edit, I think most people would agree, even the die hard King cannonites.)

The Desperation/Regulators books are a total mindf**k, I agree. The Regulators in particular feels like it was written by a 15-year-old - the hyper stylized violence, the garish colours, the gore and abject misery that just keeps coming and coming and coming...I'm actually kind of ashamed that it's one of my favourites, because it's just so crass.

The one I've always stayed away from is Cujo. I can't do animal books or movies or TV shows, even the ones where the dog lives and everyone lives happily ever after. I come over a big blubbery one!

    5. It would be an apt re-read! For sure.

I kinda do want to see the movie but I probably won't, or at least I'll wait until it is on Netflix or Amazon. I am a lazy movie watcher.

Glad to hear I wasn't the only one who thought it was very strange. I am not sure if I loved or hated it but I do remember being kinda freaked out about the whole thing.

Cujo! I watched the movie but have not read that book. Dogs in books not faring well always makes me cry too. Which is strange because in general I am not really a dog person. I do love all creatures though. Just not in the market for a dog at this time in my life.
