Fraser's Ridge baby! Look at that. Can I tell you that it SMELLS as beautiful as it LOOKS?!
Kyme popped in on her Facebook page to announce an Outlander restock and I just had to see if I could grab Fraser's Ridge and Dragonfly in Amber. La Dame Blanche joined the party too.
Fraser's Ridge- Tart wild mountain strawberries, blackberry, peach, and raspberry. With a hint of violets and grounded with earthy patchouli. This scent. I am *almost* at a loss for words. The strawberry used in this wax is blessedly realistic, no candy, shortcake dolls or artificial flavors here. The added fruits create more dimension and lush juicy notes. Honestly, I feel like the touch of violet and patchouli provide the gorgeous setting in which the fruits gleam like gemstones.
La Dame Blanche- Fresh ozone and dew, lay atop fresh picked rosemary, thyme, sage, basil, white musk, and a hint of sandalwood. A lovely refreshing blend perfect for a bright spring day. The sharp herbs balance nicely with soft musk and sandalwood. The water and ozone notes are minimal and add a slight clarity to the scent. I melted one chunk in the living room/kitchen area and it threw medium strong for several hours. It even tip-toed into the computer room and I could get whiffs of it while blogging.
Dragonfly in Amber- I "waxed" poetic about this scent in my last Alamo post. (Ba dum dum- I'm so punny). This illustrates the blessing and curse that is the "free sample." I loved it, therefore I had to place another order. Ultimately, this epitomizes a bedroom scent for me, warm, golden, sensual and sophisticated. I promptly plopped it into my bedroom warmer (the smallest chunk I could find) and it threw strong and gracefully for several hours. This makes me excited, because that means I can cut these chunks up even smaller for more uses. The golden mica particulate swirled and twirled beautifully.
I am so excited about these scents that I want you to experience them for yourself. I am making a small goody bag with a chunk from each scent in the Outlander collection (excepting Bloddy Man, as that is the only one I have not bought) from Alamo Candelaria. All you have to do to enter this giveaway (which will close February 1st) is to officially follow my blog and tell me what book/movie/TV series you would love to see a wax collection inspired by.
I followed your blog and I would like to see a Hunger games collection. I think that could be really cool.
ReplyDeleteHunger Games! Yes! That would be an amazing wax theme.
DeleteIm following.... I would love to see The Immortal Instruments ...or Shadow Falls. Tv would be The Walking Dead
ReplyDeleteI quite enjoy The Immortal Instruments (and Infernal Devices series too). The runes and steampunk effects could be cool in wax.
DeleteFollowed! I would love to see a line inspired by The Walking Dead! :-)
ReplyDeleteBloody zombie wax... Fun! I have seen creepy finger and teeth molds. That would be cool.
DeleteI left a comment earlier but it didn't go through for some reason.. I followed your blog! Which I have actually be reading for awhile & I didn't even realize it! I would love to see an American horror story collection. Thanks for the giveaway :)

ReplyDeleteThat would be cool! Especially since there are so many themes within that show.
Deletetrying again, think I got it right. Vampire diaries, Grimm or American horror story.
ReplyDeleteOoooo! Grimm! Vampire Diaries would be neat too.
DeleteTwilight had a lot of good scent themes back in the day. Those were fun to be part of. I think if I had to choose something more current it would be Sleepy Hollow.

Deb. I still need to watch that. I made the mistake of beginning Oce Upon A Time and MAN is this series forever long. Gah. Sleepy Hallow next.
DeleteI need to watch that. Many people have recommended it to me.

It is hokey, but I love Doctor Who so hokey and I get along. The sheer number of fairy take characters makes me keep coming back. I look at townsfolk and go "who is that? Who will he be? Is that her?" Plus they have their own twists on the tales that brings them all together. Give it a go! But be prepared to stay a while. :-D
DeleteWhat you said about the townsfolk and wondering who they will be, that's kind of how it is with Gotham. Because the story is starting when Bruce Wayne (Batman) is still a child, we're seeing the 'birth' of everyone, seeing how they came to be the villains or heroes they will eventually be.

I would love a Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory collection because it was my fave movie when I was a kid and I adore candy and foodie scents! Thanks so much for this great giveaway! I LOVE Alamo wax!
ReplyDeleteOh Gretchen!!! Be still my heart! WHY has this not been done?! Snozeberries and Bad Nut (could be a nutty liqueur), and Gobstoppers! There could be ones made after the characters and rooms in the factory. Wow, what an endless supply of inspiration.
DeleteP.S. I love Alamo too!!
Oh my! Frasers Ridge sounds so good!! I immediately went to her site but it is sold out :/ I'm going to make my first purchase and buy Faeries de la Foret wax crack :)
ReplyDeleteOh! Her Faeries de la Foret caught my eye for sure. Hoping it will be around for a few days :-)
DeleteIt might be a little hokey, but I would love to see a Little House on the Prairie theme. I would love to see recreations of what scents people actually wore back in those days.
ReplyDeleteNot hokey at all! I think that would be sweet. I often wonder what people used as personal fragrances in various time periods.
DeleteLaura was always mentioning her teacher and maybe even Ma smelling fancy like lemon verbena. (I love Little House!)
Delete~Deb
Mmmm lemon verbena! That means YOU smell fancy too Deb ;-)
DeleteAwww shucks.

I almost put that, too!!!! Love that idea!
DeleteI have always loved the Chronicles of Narnia books! I feel like there could be some great scent possibilities there...
ReplyDeleteThat is a great idea!
DeleteGreat series!! Turkish Delight would HAVE to be in there somewhere! Aslan's Mane, Tea with Mrs. Beaver, oh! So many ideas!
DeleteOh my goodness, your interview with her was awesome! She is so incredibly talented -- I cannot get over the products and the branding. So en pointe! If I think about scents for books, I would probably say that I would freak over either Shakespearean themes (can you imagine how awesome!?!?), anything "Wuthering Heights", and anything Edgar Allen Poe. I feel like all of those would be very Alamo Candelaria as well. :) Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThank you!! Your suggestions would be fabulous in Kyme's hands. William provides quite a lot of possibilities doesn't he? I read Wutherington Heights right after Twilight in 2008 I believe (because of all the mentions) and it was way better than I remembered from High School. But Poe, yes Poe and her Raven's Myst would have to be included. So apt. We need a Poe collection in the fall.
Deletefollowing! I think maybe a wizard of oz collection in wax would be pretty awesome. I don't even know if anyone has done that yet. I know i have seen Alice in Wonderland. Great interview! I have been hearing great things about Alamo but have not placed an order yet. Gorgeous products!
ReplyDeleteHope you have been doing well! Yes, Wizard of OZ would be cool! Lots of possibilities there. Lollipop Guild, Auntie Em's Pie, Wicked Witch's Cauldron...
