ScentSationals: Anchorage Edison Warmer

ScentSationals advertised a 20% off sale in honor of Valentine's Day via Instagram a couple of weeks ago. These old fashioned multi-filament bulbs fascinate me when I see them in upscale home decor stores and restaurants. ScentSationals has a beautiful collection called "Edison" that features such bulbs, and quite a few have a decidedly nautical flare.

I chose the Anchorage warmer after some deliberations between that and the Hurricane Lantern or the Nautical warmers. The cracked aging and aqua patina were deciding factors. In a rare moment of foresight I also bought an extra bulb and in a frequent occurrence of impulsivity, I picked a wax clamshell in Oud Noir.

Here she is in all her finely aged and patina'd glory.

In her new habitat, my nightstand, she casts a beautiful glow. Now the down and dirty deets:
-It is a 40 watt bulb, so nice and hot.
-I find the lid slightly hinders throw, but I just take it off if I am melting a lighter fragrance.
-If the wax is allowed to cool and harden it pops out very easily. I was quite surprised by this. Occasionally if the wax is softer, I just remove the melting plate (bowl) and pop it in the freezer for easier wax removal.
-This is my first square warmer that the wax melts around the whole perimeter. Usually I am left with unmelted wax in the corners. Not so here.
-Normally priced at $24.99, was on sale for $19.99.
-Replacement bulbs are $4.49, was on sale for $3.59.
-Shipping was $5.99.
-I love her. She creates quite the cozy, romantic atmosphere.

Are there any warmers you have been eyeballing lately? Do you match your warmers to your home decor or go for more utilitarian features?

  1. Oh man, she's a beauty! Score on complete meltage. I hide from square shaped melters for that exact reason!
I don't have too much home decor, as we're still in the infancy of this thing called adulthood. I try and go for neutral shades if possible. If I ever find a decent purple warmer, though, all bets are off :)

    1. Settling on home decor can be daunting, especially if you like a mix of things. I have seen some really neat hand painted tealight warmers. I bet there has to be some cool purple warmers somewhere!!

  2. I love love love the Edison bulb look!! score on a good square warmer! I have a square element warmer that gets maximum meltage.. occasionally not, but I'm still learning the airflow of my new home.
I was eyeing another element warmer, but now I'm thinking I might need one like this.. my home decor is... well... it's bohemian? lol.. I just collect what catches my fancy.. I have faith it will all blend.. so far, so good! ;)

    1. I love that description! Bohemian! Very apt! And it suits you too <3

It is nice to try new warmers. I am quite happy with my new ones. I don't think I have ever seen your warmers. I would love to!

  3. I love this post because it's Scentsationals. :)

I've seen some amazing looking bulb warmers over the years but I've never gotten any. A huge part of the reason I don't try more electric warmers is because I don't have any outlets near the places I'd put warmers. *sigh*

I'm curious about that scent you got. Has it been featured in a melting basket? Or will it?

You can get replacement bulbs at Walmart. Well, at least I know my Walmart always has them hanging right by the warmers.

    1. The outlets are limiting. That is partly why I am loving my first tealight, but this warmer has the place of honor by my bed.

The wax has it's very own review coming.... Tomorrow I think! No Edison warmers or bulbs at my Walmart(s). Does yours have these warmers????

    2. I don't think the Edison type ones are there. At least I don't remember seeing that type of packaging. I'll have to take a closer look next time I'm there.

    2. Julie, it was so beautiful yesterday (57°) that I went out and mowed the yard! The rain returned today, but I enjoy the winter since it makes one feel so cozy inside. What are the temps where you live?

    3. That does sound like beautiful weather! I enjoy brisk days like that. Can you believe.... Here in FL... The low is 28 tonight :-o heater is on, thick socks and cozy pj's.

I enjoy a good rainstorm. They usually happen in the summertime here.

  5. GORGEOUS warmer! Oh man! What a beaut! Romance all the way.

"-I find the lid slightly hinders throw, but I just take it off if I am melting a lighter fragrance." Interesting thing to note! I wonder about this.

    1. Thanks! I have been using it every night and so far still great!

Yeah, I guess taking into account Levoisier's conservation of mass experiments using covered candles, it makes sense. The gas/matter from the melted wax gets trapped under the lid since the holes are so small and with little air flow. You know, it makes me want to weigh wax before and after melting now. To see how much oil evaporates when heated. Like chewing gum before and after chewing. Ok. Enough geeky rambling.
