Another pumpkin and apple heavy basket. I just can't get enough now that temps are finally cooling down a bit around these parts. If you would like me to review any of these in depth please comment below.

This past weekend we spent in the countryside frolicking with chickens, turkeys, goaties, and family. It was a fun annual gathering that my aunt and uncle host in honor of Nacho Libre Night. They set up a pinata, had a Mexican laden smorgasbord and we watched Nacho Libre in sombreros. It was our first time attending and it was great fun.

My girls played outside the whole time. Their feet were black with soil and pockets lumpy with treasures: vertebrae, grasshopper exoskeletons, hardened tree sap.

It was cold enough to warrant a bonfire, fuzzy socks and long sleeves. It's crazy how a two hour drive north changes the weather so much.

I am glad we went. It definitely took the sting out of the Halloween events I had bungled this past week. I think we are planning on hanging out at my Dad's for Halloween this year. The girls can dress up and we will all hang out eating candy and being silly. I think I need to get in the kitchen and bake some more this week. Boost my holiday mood. Between some pumpkin something or other baking and all my fall scents, that should do the trick! What do you have going the rest of the month? What gets you into the fall spirit? Is it fuzzy sock weather where you are?

  1. It IS fuzzy sock weather here in Wisconsin. I'm not in much of a holiday mood either. It's hard to find that old holiday spark when the kids are grown and we live out in the country (no trick-or-treaters). I haven't even watched any spooky movies yet. (The new version of Poltergeist doesn't count since it sucked and wasn't at all spooky.)

Hoping you bake something really yummy, and hoping we both find our Halloween groove! =)

    1. I think we have another month or so before I can break out my fuzzy socks at home. I hope we can find some holiday cheer too. Outer kids don't trick or treat and we don't really have much spooky decor. I do think some movie watching will help. Haven't watched Hocus Pocus yet. That will be fun. Sorry the new Poltergeist stunk but the original was so good I guess it was bound to.

  2. Our days are cooling off, but it's been a hotter-than-normal Oct. I am ready for colder weather! We get a lot of trick or treaters at our house, so I have to be prepared with a lot of candy. Last year I had several bags and only gave out one piece per kid, but still ran out and had to turn off the light. I am currently burning a Paddywax Edgar Allan Poe(!) candle and waiting for some predicted rain to start - that seems very October-y. :D (The candle is "Cardamom, Absinthe & Sandalwood fragrance notes" - very nice!)

    1. Most of the kids in our neighborhood go to better neighborhoods to trick or treat. Glad it is cooling off or you! Um... I am totally tracking down that candle. I adore absinthe scents and sandalwood... And cardamom! Wish me luck tracking it down!

  3. PS. I lived in Orlando for five years. I moved there in August, when the weather was simply horrifying! One October day, I was walking across the UCF campus (where I worked) and suddenly, I felt one tiny gust of colder air mixed into the air. I literally stopped walking, felt tears well up in my eyes, and I called my mom to tell her I felt a cool breeze! LOL I prefer colder weather! :D

    1. Awwwwww!!! I bet that was a powerful moment! As a native I feel the seasons decently well, lack of humidity, brisk breezes and chilly nights, but it is so subtle. I think my optimal climate would be somewhere around NC. But the gulf breezes and ocean breezes keep it from hitting crazy high temps in the summer. Like Vegas. Ugh! 110 at midnight in July! Gross!

  4. It's been the hottest October on record here in central CA. The drought for the past few years has just wrecked havoc. There's not as much pretty fall foliage this year because half the trees are dead and the other half are confused, lol. But it's finally been in the 70's the past few days and I'm loving it! But I've been melting fall scents for a couple months; even when it was 100+. Thanks for the quick rundown of fall scents. Honestly they all sound fabulous! There's so much awesome wax in the world.

    1. I am so sad for y'all in CA with all the fires and droughts. I hope relief come soon and you will get to enjoy your fall like he used to in the past. I'm excited to melt this basket full of thought that. There are so many wonderful things out there like you said. I still sometimes feel like exploring a new vendors. I hope this happy last me a long time.

  5. Still warm here on the Gulf Coast. I miss fall in MN so much it hurts. It's just not the same and I've lived here for years. I'm so curious about LSC and Sniff My Tarts. Also, what are your favorite candles?

    1. I hear ya! I am hoping it cools down for both of us. I will be more than happy to review the LSC and SMT. I am anxious to find out how the SMT blend turned out. Hmmmm... Candles! I love the BBW Pumpkin Pie right now, and I am burning a L'Artisan that is nice but I am most excited to get the Diptyques I bought a couple days ago. Plus I am jonesing for a Paddywax candle and a Cire Trudon candle.
