Awaiting:
Vacation! We are staying in Tennessee for this first time, near Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, and we are excited. Some events planned: white water rafting, horseback riding in the mountains, eating, shopping, hiking, Asheville, caves, underground lakes, Alpine coaster and more. And being the old lady I am, most looking forward to mornings on the cabin deck facing the mountains and drinking some coffee, listening to the birds and reading.

Dreading:
Having to start incorporating new foods to my Whole30. I am a little afraid of bombing this transition to lifestyle eating and ending up back where I started. I know if I stay on plan it works. I also know I am meant to include more foods so I can learn how to manage them and find "food freedom." Also hoping I don't go glutton during vacation.

Hit:
Crazy Aaron's Thinking Putty... I have a tiny tin in my purse and play with it anytime I get bored somewhere. It is so satisfying.

Miss:
Milky Dress S.O.S. Blemish Cream

Low:
None. It has been a nice month.

High:
Reconnecting with my (ex) step-father, getting to spend time with my sisters, hanging out with my husband and girls, sunshine, better health and good friends.

How was your June? Lows or highs? Hits or misses? What are you reading or watching or listening to? Please share!

  1. June could have been better, but it wasn't horrible so I guess that's okay. While the month is ending worse and worse at work, at home it's ending on a high note with renewed excitement about our crafty plans. Still trying to get through the Shadowhunters book so I can dive into my next Ludwig book. I'll have to look up that author you mentioned! I'm not familiar with her stuff, at least just by her name.

    1. At least the Shadowhunters book is on its last legs. Hopefully you will get through it before throwing it out your window. LOL! Ludwig! That will make for some happy July reading.

If you start reading the Kate Daniels series I will die. Of happiness.

    2. Did you buy the books, or get the from library? I did a quick look at them on Amazon. Actually it must have been another series by the same author but the covers were all cheesy with shirtless buff guys and I was like "What the heck is she reading?!" Then I saw the Kate Daniels series. lol

    3. I borrowed the first one from a friend and then checked one out then bought the rest. I will end up buying you the first one and sending it. You HAVE to try it. I was sold around the 2nd or 3rd book.

And yes, totally cheesy cover art. But by the time I started getting into it I was endeared.

  2. Yay to a fantastic June! So glad it was a good one for you my friend. Your vacation sounds dreamy, please please please report back on it! The Great Smokies are a contender for our fall road trip! Tennessee is all of a sudden (or maybe I'm just noticing it) a hip travel destination for my fellow Ohioans, everyone's recent photos have gotten me interested!

Congrats on your health journey so far! It's amazing how much better we feel when we are aware of what's going into our bodies. Food really can be medicine. Keep up the good work!!

I am most looking forward to, and most nervous about, our trip to Florida! Traveling with a baby feels so overwhelming. But travel is what we love so onward we press! June has been pretty great here too, the arrival of warm weather always seems to be good for everyone here.

    1. Thank you! Being home with my babies always lifts me up.

I plan on blogging it once we return. I am looking forward to exploring TN more. I have been to Nashville and Chattanooga and a few places here and there but never stayed any length of time. I am sure it will be fun.

Thank you! Food is medicine for sure. And I was giving myself heaping helping of sugar for way too long. I do worry a little bit that I am eating too much protein but I have a doctor's appointment coming up so I am sure she will suss me out.

Traveling with a baby does present some challenges but it is totally do-able. And you are so organized and prepared, it will make it that much easier. I look forward to you guys coming down. I hope it will be as magical as you wish. Sunscreen and light layers of clothes! It is a scorcher this year. Thankfully the afternoon storms cool things off a little.

  3. Totoro! My friend bought a Totoro wallet without even knowing about the movie because she just thought it was cute so I'm forcing her to watch it this weekend :)

My June was mixed: E3 trade show went fine but I caught a horrendous cold that I still can't shake, and then my storage unit was broken into and the only thing they took was my great grandmother's china doll :( I'm looking forward to having a calmer schedule in July, however and getting back on track with healthy food and exercise.

Have a wonderful time in Tennessee... sounds like a blast!

    1. Awwww!!! I can totally see that. Totoro is adorable. Very much kawaii! I bought myself a Totoro shirt since he is so cute too. Once she watches the movie though, she will be hooked! I recently watched it again.

How awful about your storage unit and your heirloom. What a jerky move for someone to make. And why the doll??? Clearly that is a beloved and sentimental type of item. Ugh. Thieves are such jerks.

Hoping July is better for you and getting back on track will amp up your health. Hoping your summer cold has abated.

Thank you!! We are so excited for vacation to get here. Adam really needs it. He works so hard.

  4. I didn't know you were into nail polish! RBL was a favorite and I still have many of her polishes. 360 is one of the prettiest ones.

Your vacation sounds like it will be a blast! Please post lots of pics when you can.

Did you finish watching Tudors? What did you think of it?

    1. YES! I was major league obsessed with RBL back in the day. I was in the V-Lounge and had about 30 something shades at one point. I gave a few away and a few broke but they still make up a good chunk of my collection. They age pretty well. And many are one coaters. Well heck, I am preaching to the choir here. I still love the Queen collection the best, you know Tudors and all. LOL!

I pinky promise to inundate you will an overwhelming amount of photos.

I DID! It was great overall. I was sad they kind of rushed through the last part of his life, but I can see how it was less dramatic. I liked seeing those glimpses into how Mary and Elizabeth would be as queens. I loved the costumes, the crackling fires and barking dogs and hooting owls. I loved the actors. Very happy with it!!

  5. Hold up! Celestial Seasonings tea lip balm? That's bizarre, now I'll be looking for that sticker:)
Those cabin porch mornings are a favorite memory from our Gatlinburg trip 10 yrs ago this summer. I also love the misty storms that rolled in through the mountains every afternoon to break the heat, but were gone just as quickly. So many little rocky nooks and crannies too, your photos will be amazing.
I love that Solstice has simpler combos too, along with complex blends. Someday Solstice, someday. Happy July!

    1. Yes! And it is AMAZING. You can actually buy it from Celestial Seasoning website for $1.99 but getting it free in a box seems more fun. Like being a kid again and digging through the cereal box for the elusive toy.

Sounds like you had a nice trip to Gatlinburg! One day I would like to go in the fall and see the autumn foliage and drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway. I think that would make for a fun mini trip.

I appreciate that too about Solstice Scents. Simple and comforting scents hit the spot sometimes and I have been in that kind of mood lately. I hope you have a happy July too!!
