Ten Digit Creations: May Order

During Easter, Amber at Ten Digit Creations was giving out mystery coupon codes for orders placed during the last weekend in April I believe. I ended up getting a code for 20% off and decided the time was ripe for making use of it. I placed an order for some custom brittle and a few scents I have been eyeing in scent shots.

The custom brittle scent I chose was Patchouli Mint. I bought a crap ton for $20.00. My scale is broken so I don't know the exact weight but it is a solid crap ton.

I raved in my last Ten Digit Creations post about three particular scents that I loved and Amber teasingly blended those three together and created Wicked Lovely. Um, hello!!!! How was I to resist that carrot?! Wicked Lovely blends Blackberry Frankincense, Rosewood and Amber and Winter Patchouli into a melange of earthy incense refined by woods and plush blackberries. Somehow the blend smells like the best possible version of rosewood to my nose. I am desperately in love. I bought several 1 ounce cup for $1.00 each in this scent. I think I need to go back for more. I melted one in the kitchen and one in the living room. After several minutes I was not picking up much so I shrugged and went about my day. Next thing I know, I am inhaling this incredible scent and I realize it is Wicked Lovely churning away in the warmers at a strong throw. I am not sure what alchemy took place but I am on cloud nine when this melts.

This Old House was reviewed previously here, as well as Blackberry Frankincense.

Papa's Cabin- Notes: As soon as you enter, you smells the familiar aroma of his pipe, flannel shirts, smoldering embers and warm spices.
I wondered if this would smell like laundry detergent with the flannel shirts but I should not have doubted Amber's ability to blend like a master. Because she does. Funnily enough I get some vanilla in here and it is smooth and melodious and full of caramel tobacco and white woods and the barest whisper of cinnamon. A lovely, lovely scent and I will be getting more. This threw medium-strong in my bedroom.

October Breeze- Notes: Inhale deeply and experience the aromas of cool nights, falling leaves and a hidden path in the woods lined with dark berries.
Snapping twigs and brittle foliage, crisp mountain atmosphere, chilly streams and the sweet musk of wild berries in the woods. Another winner.

Vanilla Tobacco- Notes: Crushed pipe tobacco and warm vanilla.
This one is deceptively simple yet brilliant. Creamy whipped vanilla, dulcet and plush with a mellow candied tobacco within the heart. I am in big trouble. The more I sample, the more I fall in love.

Free samples:

Perfume oil in Patchouli- This. This is good stuff. Dark, dried and aged patchouli leaves. Facets of cinnamon bark and silty soil twinkle in this lush single note. I am going to drain this sample fast. I am very tempted to tip it into my bath water.

Shea Butter Body Lotion in Rosewood & Amber is flipping awesome. I have no idea why I have not tried Amber's bath and body yet. But this lotion will be sending me back for more. A light and aqua textured lotion that spreads like a dream. It absorbs quickly and leaves a satiny sheen on the skin. The scent. Do I even need to talk about it? Rosewood and Amber is perfect for bath and body. It smells strong and could even serve as your fragrance for the day it is so generously scented.

With this latest TDC order I am finding more and more to fall head over heels with. Amber easily has the largest catalog of my favorite types of scents and now I just want to scroll down and try them all. Amber, how crazy would it be to make a comprehensive TDC sampler with one of each scent in a one ounce scent shot?! Ok, I need to get a hold of myself before I lose myself in all the earthy, tobacco, incense, amber, and "Julie" aromas.

But I will be back for more of course. Have you tried TDC lately? What about the body care?

  1. I went the site a week or two ago, thinking I'd go ahead and try them again, but left when I saw that white text on black background that is extreme eye torture. Is it still like that?

    1. Nope! Not any longer. She switched it over to white background with black letters for ease of navigation. You should pop over and check it out! I am still dreaming of fall over here. Can you tell? October Breeze, Papa's Cabin, This Old House... Deb!!! I want to melt them all NOW!!!

  2. Julie, thank you so much for this amazing review!! It's so nice having someone else who loves the earthy scents as much as I do <3 Glad the Wicked Lovely blend fell right into the "haha...Julie will love this" category ;)

Yes, Deb, the black background is gone! You can actually thank Julie for that. She's the only one that ever came forward and told me to throw it in the trash :D Not really, but she was one of a few who said the black was harder on the eyes.

Oh, and Julie...wait until you see what I just blended this morning!!! It has your name written all over it. No spoilers. You must wait <3

    Thanks again!

    1. You and me... we are the earthy loving soul sisters.

You are killing me, Smalls. I need to know what you are stirring up in that fragrant cauldron of yours. I will just have to wait then and add it to my ever growing list of things to buy soon.

      Have a nice week! Cheers!

  3. I've totally fallen down the TDC rabbit hole. I throw all the "untried" 1 oz scent shots in my cart because I figure if anyone can make me love a scent, it'll be Amber! She has a dragon's blood sampler that I can't wait to sniff! I'm trying not to order bath & body, because I've got a lot of older lotions/soaps to use first but I'm glad to hear you like the products!

    1. Yessss!! I am right there with you. I love the 1 ounce ones to take for a spin too. I try to get some scents I might not normally try but there are so many great ones it is hard to narrow it down. I am slowly getting a healthy amount of bath and body, especially after this Arcane Bunny Society order comes in the next day or so. I need to use up my lotions now before I buy any more too.

  4. That brittle though! Looks like little pieces of fudge!! Cuuutttte!
I have went on the site a few times but I must admit I just end up lost in the shuffle.. it is just hard to navigate for me. I will have to sit down and figure it out though, soon maybe after the heat subsides here because you have been ordering some pretty intriguing scents. I also see that there is a Golden Girls collection.. hello!
The pictures on this order too! Gorgeous!

    1. It does!! I never thought of that until you mentioned it. It is pretty!

The site is a little busy. What I prefer to do is check out the scent list for things I think I want to try/know I like, then type them into the search bar and look them up. I think she is working on getting that option fixed. Or I go to the home fragrance tab on the left hand side of the page and click that then wax tarts and buy that way. Hope this helps!

Yes! The Golden Girls looks fun!! Amber is a fearless blended like Brandy, and I know you love ST, so you might find a few new faves at TDC too. <3

Hope you are having a nice week, my friend!

  6. So I was just reading TDC'S newsletter today. I'll admit the first I've actually read, and man, is Amber thorough! It was filled with lots of helpful info and made me sort of fall in love with the brand. I'm most definitely on a wax hiatus, but I think I'll melt through more of my Jan order and come up with a major game plan to reorder in Aug, or Sept.
Things I'm interested in: custom brittle, sugar scrubs, 1.00 try me scents and all the earthy Julie patchoulis.

P.S. I enjoyed your use of 'crap-ton' it's one of my fave sayings from working at Yankee Candle, for some reason, getting a 'crap-ton' of Chocolate layer cake in deliveries or grabbing a 'crap-ton' of bags from the back was always the most accurate way to enumerate. I overused it to death, and of course don't use it professionally, but sometimes it's just called for. Btw, my all-time fave Yankee expression was 'ass-fruit', as in, "Picnic in the Park smells like ass-fruit!:D

    1. Yes, Amber is! She considers not only what works for her but also her customers when making decisions. I think you will enjoy her no nonsense approach to wax. Make it simple but make it good. I love the $1 scent shots. I always try to pick up a few when I order. I have been wanting to try the scrubs now that they are on sale. I might have to spring for one.

LOL! Crap-ton is definitely called for at times! And I am totally adopting ass-fruit. Because I have had many waxy concoctions that could fall under that odious umbrella.

    2. Please! If you ever use 'ass-fruit' in writing, make sure that I see it:D

  7. Julie crack! My favourite scent from TDC is Blueberry Flapjacks, but I love that they have tons and tons of scents for people with your sort of fragrance preferences. There's so much bakery/fruity-bakery out there - where is everyone supposed to get their fix of patchouli?! (Speaking of, do you think MooScents is going to open up again anytime soon? I certainly hope so; I've melted everything but The Rumpkin - saving that guy for Halloween.)

"Crap ton" is an actual measurement, by the way. Also, butt ton and f**k ton. Made all the more impressive if you add "metric" to the front end. ;)

    1. Ooooo Blueberry Flapjacks huh? I will have to add that one to my next order. There really is a huge fruity/bakery offering from the majority of wax vendors. I love the niche TDC has carved out for themselves.

MooScents!!! I need to find out. I have a few left that I am hoarding for fall too but I would love to pick up some more to melt right now. I like that beeswax blend of wax. I did place a small MoonaLisa order recently so maybe now that he is done making tarts for the Mystery bags, he will make some for MooScents.

A METRIC crap ton!! Yes. That is what a full Rosegirl's pie consists of... or the large SMT loaves. Those are metric crap tons of wax.
