Summer break milestone: one month down and one month left to go. The girls and I have been soaking up the sunshine and water both at Lithia Springs (pictured here in this post) and Aquatica water park.

Days spent in equal parts working (the girls on their math and reading and me on some writing and exercise) and playing (girls outside and experiments at the kitchen table, me in pj's reading all the Kate Daniels novels in the universe and us together exploring new adventures out and about).

Some of the summer bucket items hang on the fridge crossed off while others wait patiently and may not even feel the scratch of the pen. I am ok with that. We are contentedly having fun and taking it easy in turns.

My journey to improved health has another week under the belt. Jillian Michaels is still kicking my butt and I am halfway done with the first step in the Whole30 process. I find my cravings have lessened and my energy level is up. I have shed a few pounds as well, which is a nice bonus.

This summer is flowing by peacefully.

How is yours going?

  1. I can't believe we're as far into summer as we are! I mean, 4th of July next week already? Wow. I'm a little bummed that we haven't been getting outside and taking care of things. It's one of my goals every stinkin' year and it never happens. This year it's been a mix of weather and broken lawn mowers. We won't factor laziness into it when we have two other things to blame it on...LOL

    1. Right?! You still have July. Go on out there and get some sunshine. And you know... if writing a certain book comes across your mind that might be fun too. ;-)

  2. I can't believe it's almost July! It sounds like your summer is progressing nicely and you're enjoying yourself and your girls, which is fantastic! I'd love to hear your thoughts on LSC. I haven't ordered from them (yet), and I'd love to know which scents of theirs you like.

    1. Same! It is flying by for sure. I sent you a couple LSC scent shots in your box that will be shipping tomorrow. I love LSC. Some of my favorites: anything pink sugar but especially Fluffy Pink Slippers and Coco Pink, any lavender but especially Bliss, anything mint but very much Candyland Dreamin', I love all their Christmas and a lot of the fall, Spooky Apparitions, Sinful, Key lIme Wedding Cake, Cranberry Citrus Balsam and many more.

  3. Hey, how wonderful to hear how swimmingly (wah-waaaahhh) your summer is going so far! And I love that you're feeling so positive about your dietary and exercise change-up - it's key. Like, kind of the key-est, I'm finding. It's weird to derive pleasure from exercise and better-living, though, right? Usually I derive my satisfaction from bacon.

    1. LOL! Yes, yes it is. The girls wanted to go to a spring today too but I am trying to keep the road time somewhat in hand. Plus they need to learn to carve out their own summer fun on days we stay home. Currently slime making has been popular.

Feeling positive it key. For a few days there I was on the slippery scale slope so I reminded myself that wasn't the whole reason I am making these changes and got off of it. That is helping. So I am focusing again on staying active and seeing how my doctor's appointment will turn out on the 5th. Hoping the weightloss and healthy foods and activity will keep my ovary cysts in check.

Bacon is nice too. Luckily I am eat that with no problem on this diet, but I still keep it to a minimum.
