Mermaid Treasure: Stone Sparrow Design

Marina at Stone Sparrow Design is quite the talented lady. She crafts some artistic pieces and many of them are so intricate and so moving that they actually look as if they should be framed and displayed. She specializes in skeletal work and the use of long thin stone shapes. Detail is her forte.

This gravestone rubbing ring is one of her more simple pieces but is no less impactful for it. Marina has these as made-to-order from time to time and as I had been eyeing these for a few years now I decided to go ahead and take the plunge. I am happy I did as it wears like a spooky dream.

Skeletons

I have always been fascinated by skeletons. I remember loving my AP Anatomy and Physiology class in high school. The bones all moving and fitting together like an elaborate puzzle. The bone plates in a baby's skull being so plaint and flexible until they enter toddlerhood. Bones making blood cells like little factories. Bones found in the cow pasture baking in the Florida sun, scattered like so many cosmic dice. Bones are cool.

How do you feel about skeletons? Spooky or fascinating?

  1. I have always been fascinated by them...I have them everywhere in my life...rings, statues, paintings, at home, at work, tattooed on my arm and even a life sized guy that rides around in my car 😁 I was just at the Bone Church in Prague and was in my glory!

    1. Oh my gravy!! I am cackling at the dude chilling with you in your car. That is the coolest thing ever. Kristin!!! Was it you on IG whose super cool photos I saw of the Bone Church?? That is so fascinating!! It made me think of catacombs. I hope to visit some one day.

  2. At first glance, I was getting motorcycle gang insignia vibes, but seeing it on I realized it's sort of elegant (digging that squishy skull). Flush rings can be tricky to pull off but it looks amazing on you, and you're lil pinky nail, omg, so cute! <3

    1. Oh boy! I could see that though. The wings and skull and all. But no biker gang here. Maybe a dirt bike gang. It is a comfy ring with the back of the band being thinner and yes the flushness will be handy as far as not catching on things too.

LOL! My nails are tiny things. Virtually no nail beds at all to speak of and my toes are the same way. But in good news, a bottle of nail polish will last me eons if it doesn't dry out first.
