Apples
Every year around September I get the urge to bake an apple pie. This year was no different. I like to use Granny Smith apples and homemade cornmeal crust that uses both butter and lard. Mmmmm.... lard.
I also bought more apples to make some apple crisp this weekend. Heck, maybe even today.
Some of my favorite apple moments include this hot apple cider with lemon and anise that I sipped in New York City. Bryant Park in the fall is truly a magical experience. There are food stalls and holiday shopping vendors, twinkling lights and a skating rink.
My current favorite apple scent is still the classic Apple Clove Butter. Carol stocks this now and I will certainly be trying to pick some up on November 3rd. I also love Her Apple Dumpling and Apple Cobbler Delight scents. Oh! And Baked Apple. The new one of hers I want to try (well, new to me) is Apple N Spice.
Some of my favorite apple perfumes include: Wylde Ivy's Autumn Twilight, Sixteen92's The Bell Witch and Sonoma Scent Studio's Equestrian.
What apple scents and flavors and experience delight you?
I love apples in everything but perfumes. Hot cider sounds just perfect but maybe in a month once it gets a little colder.
ReplyDeleteAll pictures in this post look great but the first one is as if it's a professional book cover.
It took Laurie at Sonoma Scent Studio to really turn me on to the possibility. Normally I am not too big on smelling like a home candle but she worked some magic on me.
DeleteI am ready for it to cool down as well. It has been unseasonably warm even for Florida as of late. Definitely a bummer.
Thank you so much!! I was having fun making my first apple pie of the season. <3 Hope you and Rusty are well.
