School has started back and summer break is now a memory. I make a summertime bucket list every year so let's see how I did.
Things we checked off:
- Dental appointments (YAY! I still have one more to schedule.)
- Aquatica trips and we even went to Typhoon Lagoon for the first time as a family.
- Savanna's Art Camp
- We hiked a state park (the photos here are from Medard State Park).
- We swam in the Weeki Wachee and Ichetucknee springs.
- A beach day at Coquina Beach and Clearwater Beach with the girls.
- I painted with acrylics on some shoes for a friend.
- Read, quite a bit.
- Watched birds as often as I could.

Some things that I wanted to do but did not get a change to:
- A summer concert with the girls. Savanna ended up going to one with her friend. I will still try to do this soon though.
- Play in the rain. Which is strange as it rained quite a bit but I guess we never really wanted to go out in it. A shame.
- Bake cinnamon rolls with yeast. This one I will do in the fall.
- Finish a quilt. I started a new one for my sister and I am working on a old one when I travel but so far none are done.
- Attend a teacher workshop. It was canceled but I am taking a Montessori Philosophy course so I think that should count.

Even though I might not have crossed all the things off my list it was still a phenomenal summer. We saw whales and Savanna started guitar lessons. There were days of relaxing and days of adventure making.

The new school year is bringing some exciting changes, new classes for me to teach, new technology and materials.
The girls will have a new building at their school and they will get to be in the same class together, which they will love.

This is going to be a good school year.
Bring on the laughter.
The apples.
The anticipation of fall.

When do kids go back to school for you? How is the end of your summer going?

  1. Here in my area kids go back to school usually the day after Labor Day. It used to always be around Aug. 24th, the Wednesday of that week. More recent years though, they've changed it to after Labor Day.

The end of summer is making me really want fall to just go ahead and get here. We've just had a stretch of hot and humid days, enough that we've had the AC on for five days. You probably laugh at that like I laugh at your winters. LOL But yeah, I'm ready to move on!

    1. Labor Day is a good time to go back. Easy to remember and it feels more like fall I bet.

Hahahaaa! I may be laughing but I am sweating balls while I do it! I am super ready for those brief and random days of milder temperatures and cooler breezes. I will be begging for your cooler winter weather that you will be getting much sooner than I will and much more colder.

  2. Sometimes I miss having a youngster in school, as I could shop the school supplies aisle for hours! They're my obsession...pens, paper, whatever. But not having to help someone with homework and science projects is a relief ;)

That tree has me all up in my feelings. Big stately trees are just my thing!!

Hope this year is a good one for you!! Thanks for putting me in your basket again <3

    1. School supplies are so much fun! I ordered some cat pens and bookmarks and sticky notes for the girls and myself. Soon you will be helping your baby granddaughter figure out all those tough school things but then also have the fun of shopping with her.

I loved the trees at the park too. Very cool to explore and pet.

Thank you so much Amber. I hope you have a good fall and winter too. I cannot wait to melt your goodies. <3

  3. I'm so glad you've had a nice summer, it really looks like you got out to do so much with your family. I think you're feeling a bit bummy at the moment (I myself had the Week From Hell (TM) last week, so I get it) but clearer skies ahead or some other kinda trite nonsense? ;) I really hope we're able to meet up in the Fall at the Springs - we'll be down for a week and a half for that trip, so we've got lots of time (and I LOVE Disney Springs!) Stay chill, my friend.

    1. Thank you. I am sorry to hear you had a terrible week. I feel like many people are at the moment. Maybe something nasty buzzing about the atmosphere. I hope we can meet up too! Ice cream or cupcakes are always worth a trip to Disney Springs.
