As I was prepping to take some photos recently I stumbled across this box of ornaments that was given to me by my great Aunt Sue before she passed away this year. It is a wooden crate filled with Santa's from around the world. I am deeply in love with it. They are the vintage looking glass ornaments about 3 inches tall. Finding this box in the corner of our computer room after visiting EPCOT seems apropos. I caught Savanna walking all around the tree touching them when she came in from playing. With all the ornaments already on our tree I was surprised she noticed them.

I think this is probably our last year of Christmas where both girls still mostly believe in Santa. Savanna has already been asking me probing questions that I cannot help but answer as truthfully as possible. I am thankful that it is becoming a gradual understanding and not the fearful shock of betrayal so many of my friends speak of having themselves.

Have you had any pleasant Christmas surprises? Are you ready for the holiday? Is it already running full steam ahead?

  1. We were busted on the Santa scandal when Ty realized Santa's handwriting was the same as mine. Doh! I don't remember how old he was at the time. He must have passed the news on to Casey because I don't remember any sort of Santa drama from him. lol And it's funny too, because when Ty pointed it out, we just sort of passed it off as a lot of people have similar handwriting. There never was any actual "Are you Santa?" "Yes," conversation.

We have all the materials things ready for Christmas but the spirit is just not there, at least not for me. It seems like it's come and gone already, and I'm ready to pack up the decorations and move on. Too many things on my mind again.

    1. Yes! The hand writing. I think that will cinch the deal with Savanna this year.

Boooooo.... I hope the Christmas spirit elf comes and bites you in the fanny in the night ;-) Did you make your treats? Watch your movies? I hope you have a great birthday today dear friend! <3

    2. I did make Special K Bars yesterday but I have not watched anything Christmas-y. Hubby says he still has a lot of holiday spirit. I hear him in the other room right now, watching some cheesy Christmas movie. I should probably take notes from him. lol

    4. Yep. The first one that came up in my Google search was the recipe at Food.com. That's very close to the recipe I use.

  2. Balsam and Citrus, Orange Clove and Lingonberry Wreath are in my top 5 when it comes to winter fragrance! Love that they are your repurchases! I remember finding out about Santa - found Santa's wrapping paper hidden in the rafters in the basement. I was so angry at my parents! It was kindergarten or first grade, I believe. Worst. Day. Ever! Luckily, I got over it =) I am so ready for Christmas! We are hosting the first of 4 holiday meals tonight, can't wait!!!

    1. The wrapping paper! Yep. I try to hide it but then somehow it always gets found. Glad it didn't scar you. 4 meals?!?! You are a Christmas animal! I am doing a Christmas Eve fun meal of hot beef cheddar subs and finger foods and desserts.

Lingonberry Wreath was a surprise favorite. I did not think I would love it as much as I do.
