Tasha's Own: Goat Milk Soap

Look at that adorable Nubian dairy goat profile. Those pendulous ears, arched nose bridge, and stubborn smirk. I recognize those features anywhere.

My friend Ashley is from Virginia and picked up this soap for me while she was visiting her hometown before taking off to Japan. Tasha's Own has a website and takes orders via email and the Contact Me tab.

Moondance has a strong fragrance of clean, almost perfume like patchouli. It has a sharp silvery scent, just like the cast of moonlight, but this is no delicate daisy. This soap in the shower feels like a sturdy farmhand soap. The rustic appearance, tang of strong cleanser, and hard working lather are all effective enough to remove the day's accumulation of trimming hooves, milking does, administering Ivomec, and mucking stalls. In fact, I wish I had it when those duties used to be mine.

I miss my goaties, but this soap allowed me some much needed nostalgia, which is a nice way to end 2014.

  1. Goat milk soap rules! Did I know that you had goats??? Why aren't you a soap maker making millions of dollars?

    1. For five years, when I was a middle school agriculture teacher, we had our own purebred and papered Nubian dairy goat herd. The kids and I cared for them on the school property and bred and showed them. They were so fun and sweet and hardheaded. When I was 8 months pregnant with Savanna, one of the does was delivering breech and I had to turn the kid inside her so he (and the one behind him) could come out. It was one of the hardest physical things I have had to do.

But this was before soaps. If I had known we could have made a pretty penny making and selling soaps for the FFA chapter. :-) but those days are past.

    2. Animal smirks. :) I am curious too, did you work on a farm or do 4-H?

    3. I was an FFA advisor/agriculture (agriscience) teacher at a middle school. I had a one acre land laboratory where we raised plants, we had a fenced off area for the goats and we had a five stall pole barn for the market pigs. We also had a chicken coop and rabbit hutches. I taught the kids about agriculture, mowing, woodworking, plants, animals, landscaping, all kinds of things. I grew up in a golf course (literally) that was like a farm with cattle, horses and fowl of all sorts. I did FFA in high school and then majored in agriculture education and communication at UF for my bachelor's (03) and Master's (07). Taught 5 years then did stay at home mom for 5 years. Now dipping my toe into education again but will not be a full fledged teacher again. Just too much right now. It is a long story of time and children. I basically want to be home as much as I can while still working. FFA does not allow much home time. It is very very time consuming as a teacher. :-)

My life in 20 seconds lol!!
