Ten Digit Creations: Small Haul

I placed a small order with Ten Digit Creations a month or so ago and wanted to show you the wee bit I picked up before I show you the bigger order I placed this past week. Amber's new wax formula is really great. Strong throwing and a nice consistency for molds. Her RTS section is fun to paw through. And it ships lightening fast.

Hippie Hippie Shake/Amber Rose Tobacco/Cherry Tobacco ($1.65 each scent shot) this is a boozy tobacco scent that has a cognac vibe and a subtle dusting of rose sugar. Pretty seductive once its melted, it becomes more concentrated and the cherry tobacco comes out a touch more. It melted strong in my large living area and kitchen. I would buy it again.

Strawberry Shortcake/Raspberry Buttercream/Cookie Monster ($3.85 each at 3.5 oz) was a surprise purchase for me. I normally don't do fruity bakery but I wanted to give this one a try. On cold it smells of happy sweet berry candies with a heavy dose of vanilla cream and a touch of sugar cookie. It threw medium-strong in the living area and kitchen and was enjoyable. Probably not one I would gravitate towards or mix on my own, but I liked it enough to keep it going.

Lavender Patchouli/Angel's Blood/Vintage Vanilla ($2.65 each at 2.5 oz) is a dark herbal dream. It smells like laundry a witch has brewed and agitated in her cauldron with copious sprigs of dried lavender and brittle patchouli, carnation petals and incense. I love it.

Bamboo Teak/Dragon's Blood/Teakwood & Coconut ($2.75 for a pack of four at 2.5 oz total) fits my summer vibes. A hippy mermaid with long wild curls who burns dragon's blood resin in her hollowed out coconut shells and uses fan coral to waft it all over her rocky island. Gosh darn this is amazing. I put one in my bathroom and it gave off a wonderfully strong throw that left it smelling fabulous. I would make this scent again in a CYO blend.

Vanilla Ice Cream/Sandalwood Marshmallow ($1.65 each at 1.5 oz) a creamy vanilla scent with a faint musky sandalwood haze that smells delish. It melts to a medium throw and smells simple and comforting.

Pink Sand Beaches/Blackberry Frankincense ($1.65 each at 1.5 oz) reminds me that Blackberry Frankincense can and should be blended with EVERYTHING! Somehow the sweetness of the Pink Sand Beaches makes the blackberry even sweeter and juicier and more vivid. Boy howdy this is good stuff.

I am happy with this tiny order. Amber has $5 flat rate shipping which is fabulous. The $10 flat rate is a tad high for me but I will pay it if left no choice, however, $5 is great for when I want to make small orders.

Have you ordered any wax lately? How do you feel about a whole week's worth of wax blogging starting tomorrow?

  1. I did actually order wax recently! First time in a looong time! I'll be trying each of the Sweet Fixation's new scents plus some other random ones to get me through the rest of summer.

    Yes! Wax posts!

    3. WHAT?!?! This is great, Deb!! I hope you blog a bit about it. Or I will just message you and ask you about it.

Kinda funny to finally have wax on a wax blog huh? LOL!

And I agree Kevin! I saw a notification that there is another post on It's Always Something and my eyes perked right up! <3

      We'll read anything, Deb. <3

    4. Yep, I'll be blogging my SF haul. Also trying to start paying more attention to what I melt again so I can maybe get back to doing my Melted posts. :)

  2. Hey Julie! A mini-reunion, right here on your site! I, too, just started re-purchasing wax after an extended break. Really got into the Spring BBW candle line-up, though the SAS offerings locally were disappointing. I also placed a small order with TDC the other week, loved it, and now I'm awaiting a major haul including my first CYO blend of Twisted Peppermint, Sea Salt and Barbershop (inspired by a fantastic blend from SMT which I'm unable to re-order). And yes, a week's worth of wax reviews sounds fantastic right about now.

    1. Hey Kevin!! I have been wondering how you were doing! Deb and I were just talking about that about a month ago. I am so happy to see you! Yes, the wax game has not been strong over here but I have had some happy purchases here and there. What spring candles are you liking? Anything I should get out there and try? TDC!!! Yes! I would love to hear all about what you got! And that CYO blend sounds amazing. Utterly amazing. Refreshing and cool. I placed a larger TDC purchase too and it came like the next day it felt like. I need to get to sniffing it.

      Are you enjoying your summer?

    2. I have now received all of two whopping TDC orders and I'm highly pleased with both. Nearly all my purchases were in six pack Mandala shapes, each of which seems like one-and-a-half to two melts from a clam shell. Each is nicely embossed, very attractive. I mostly went with mints and earthy scents. The Minty Fresh blend is cooling and uplifting, the Alpine Suede is earthy, cologne-y and light, just to name but two. I also purchased a loaf blend in Barber Shop, Peppermint Twist and Salty Sea Air which is the jewel in the lot. Again, fresh, clean, perfect for hot summer days. All in all, 24 mandala six packs and the loaf. I honestly think I have over twenty pounds of summery scented wax.

Somehow I thought of Super Tarts the other day, a vendor I've never purchased from. I referenced them via this site and got quite a kick out of the views you and Deb shared a while back. Well I looked at the site, referenced their 'Mint' section and prompt l y lost my mind. Awesome mint blends by the bushel!! Great summer blends without those too-sweet fruity mixes that are just too much for me. I highly recommend taking a peek at the web site.

I'm off for the summer and just lazing/ recovering from a rough school year. Next year, I should be in the high school leagues, a complete change of pace.

Hope you're well. Wish you'd go on another camping adventure with your sister, the last one was hilarious ( for me at least!).

    3. I like the mandala shapes too. I tend to melt the same scent in the two warmers in my main living area so they are easy to cut in half and melt together. Your loaf sounds INCREDIBLE!!! Peppermint and sea air with Barbershop? I am there for that. I will have to do that as a CYO blend soon. Well. After I melt through some of what I restocked on.

Super Tarts! Yes! I always have them on the back burner but now I am pretty much completely out of Brandy's tarts. I need to take another peek and see what all I could scrounge up. I love her creative blends. Well.... not the TOO crazy blends, but the ones that call to me.

I am so sorry you had a rough year. A rough year teaching is like 3 rough years for anyone else. I hope and pray you have a wonderful year with the high school kiddos. Last year was stressful but good for me. I am hoping this year will be calmer since I will have the testing and recertification out of the way and I will be used to what I am teaching and the routine by then.

Hahahahaaa!!! We STILL talk about that terrifying night. That was easily the most scared I have been in my life. Easily. I am so glad I didn't watch any scary movies or anything right before that. I would have been paralyzed. But we laugh and laugh about it now. It is funny you mention that though... because I am ready to blog more personal things I think. It has just been so hectic that getting up the features and reviews I want to do always comes first. I think it is time to chat again.

  3. I am just so in love with the Bamboo teak, dragon's blood, teakwood coconut blend!! I'm glad you tried it, too! Such a great blend.
I'm looking to order some star pies from Barrett Wax Crafts in the next day or so.
I'd be down for some wax blogging. ;)

    1. Isn't it?! I love that you enjoy it too! We really are scent twins. And a little goes a long way with that blend.

I have heard good things about Barrett wax. What do you think he does well?

Yay! I feel bad I don't haul as much wax as I used to but it has been nice to melt through so much of it. I was actually opening drawers and wax was just rattling around inside. But after this CFTKR haul they are full again! LOL!

    2. So, have you tried TDC Bohemian Beach, St. James Place, St. Charles Place, Professor Plum? I can send you some pieces if you haven't. ;)
I have actually only tried Snoozy Melts from Barrett's that were kindly sent to me from a waxie friend. I can send you a chunk or two if you'd like. I didn't care for the scent- I was surprised I didn't.. they're a top seller! The throw was great, though.
I've wanted to order from Barrett's for awhile and I've been waiting a year for star pies to come back. ;D lol I just need to order before the preorder goes away this week.

    3. St. James Place JUST came in my most recent order, I need to blog it. The rest I will hunt down. <3

I only tried Snoozy too from a friend, how funny. I didn't care for it either so I just pushed it back from my wax hunting eyes. I know it is awful to judge from one experience so that is why I was asking. I will keep an eye out for star pies. Those sound cute.

    4. I can definitely send you a piece of each of those TDC blends if you want. I'm hoping to get your box all put together this weekend and mailed early next week- my poly bags came in the mail yesterday. :)
Josh at Barrett Wax Crafts is pouring the preorder star pies and will have leftovers listed when he's done. :D

    5. Thank you! You are very kind. I sent out your box today and it should arrive Wednesday or Thursday. <3 Thank you for the heads up. I will be keeping an eye out for Barrett goodies.

    1. They really are! Amber is a master blender and I love how adventurous she is. And of course I dig all the earthy, woodsy, tobacco scents. Mmmmmm! Her prices and TAT really can't be beat.

  5. Goodness, their wax is so pretty now. They were the second vendor I ever ordered from (although really more like the first, on account of the actual first being just WRETCHED, name withheld to protect the stanky) and I loved their scent list (if they still carry it, Blueberry Flapjacks is a really great blueberry pancake scent.) I always liked the little white wax tarts, so clean looking, but not so tidy with the little muffin wrappers on the outside. I love all these beautiful colours now; lovely order. :)

    1. I liked the wrappers and white wax too but Amber is having fun playing in the shapes and colors and glitter. :-) Her new formula is pretty fantastic. I bet she would look into getting that scent again if it isn't there. Her customer service is pretty great.
