Melting Basket 122

It has been since April since I have posted a melting basket. What is that all about? I have been melting but mostly for testing and reviewing here on the blog. Plus just kinda grabbing anything I might be craving on the fly. I finally decided I wanted to make a more summery and fruity basket to choose from so here we are! I am not even going to attempt looking back to see what the last basket included so think of this as a reset.

Summer.  Here she is. Some summer wish list items and bucket list items have been checked off. We visited a new National Park, Acadia. We have visited the beach and some springs. Lots os lake walking, roller skating and reading have taken place.

I have some summer chores to still complete. Some quilts to finish. Some curtains to hem. A mushroom pillow to make. The girls are addicted to Fortnight, so monitoring that and making sure they do some math every weekday has been a priority.

Some things I would like to get to before the summer is over: cinnamon rolls, tubing down Ichetucknee springs, a summer concert and maybe some movies.

We are gearing up to spend a week in Savannah, Georgia. Do you have anything you like to do in that city or the surrounding area?

  1. Sounds like a lovely basket (the wistful stares and longing looks I'm giving the LSC) and lovely start to Summer. My is it flying by. I haven't even checked anything off yet, really-must get to it. Have a lovely time exploring Savannah.

    1. I melted the SMT you gifted me today and I loved it. Thank you for sharing it with me. <3

It really is flying by. June only has about a week left. Where is it going? I still have so much I wanted to do but it is just tromping on by. I feel like every year I expect to have more time on quilts but it never happens. Never happens. Ah well. All I can do is try.

Thank you! I am excited about being in a town where its old age shows so wonderfully.

  2. Oooh! Hope I'm not too late to the party! Could you review Handmade in Florida Eastern Oudh, LSC Summer Tide Wedding, and CFTKR Twenty-Nine High Street and Deviant?

Your summer has sounded wonderful so far! We never had a chance to visit Savannah while we were in GA but I know you'll have a blast!

    1. LIZ!!! You have crossed my mind more than once in the past year or so. How have you been? Are you stateside? If you don't want to answer on here feel free to chat me up on messenger!

I have melted most of those but I will be happy to still review them from what I can remember. <3

It has been really nice. Low key but still getting some stuff done. Today I spent about five hours hemming curtains for my girls' new school that is being built. Oh the fun! And my evenings are full of watching my husband and girls play Fortnite.

Thank you! Georgia has a bunch of beautiful areas. My favorite is Helen, GA up in the northern boarder. But Savannah will be awesome. Lots of history.

  3. Re: Savannah, yes, actually, I DO have experience there! Not sure if she's still around (oh, I doubt it, the place was a hole then and that was over 30 years ago now!) but when I was a kid we went to this BBQ joint waaaaaayyyy back in the woods called the Georgia Pig (you'll know it's there because the woods will look like they're on fire with smoker activity.) As I hit the top step of the porch, I fell clear through the thing, landing flat on both feet and somehow miraculously avoiding a pile of rusty under-the-porch things! I guess it's a different time now, people would be threatening to sue or just outright suing, but I was fine, so my parents just pulled me out and we had our lunch, which was excellent, as I recall!

I sadly have no tips for your hair, having suffered some insane chlorine-related frizziness myself. I just had to cut it off - there was nothing to be done (also, I think someone must have really screwed up recently on the chlorine/shock levels they put in the pool, because I just about went blind after my last swim - my eyes burned horribly for about 12 hours after my swim, and that's definitely not normal. So yeah, that also only did "good" things for my hair!)

I hope you stay cool out there, though - never been to Aquatica, but I used to really love Typhoon Lagoon. It looks like my parents might actually be coming down to meet us in Florida for a bit during the Fall, go around the parks together, and I'm looking into a day for my dad and I (the two swimmers) to maybe go to Discovery Cove. I'd also love to squeeze a manatee, but one thing at a time!

    1. Georgia Pig sounds like just the kinda place that would have the best BBQ in the south. I am glad you didn't end up with a bit of vacation tetanus. That would have been awful. I just looked up the place and sadly, it does look closed. Pooh.

Oh man. That DOES NOT sound good! Are you eyes better?? Were you wanting to cut off your hair?? I would not be happy about that. With my curly hair I always end up looking like Ronald McDonald when I have short hair. No thanks. I hope that your place gets their pool situation evened out so you can enjoy swimming again without having to get bleached each time.

Typhoon Lagoon was my JAM. My stepdad and I would get goggles and swim the lazy river collecting everyone's loose change that floating to the bottom. It was the best treasure hunting ever. Then they fixed the filtration system or something and we never found a penny again. How fun for your folks to join you guys in making memories. I will be praying for good weather for you all. I took the girls on a backstage tour of Discovery Cove once (a former student's parents worked there) and we got to see them making the dolphins' food and such. But I have not had the chance to actually take my girls there to swim with the dolphins. I would love to one day.

  4. Oh, I do enjoy a good melting basket!! So many good ones this time around too!
BlackBerry cream puffs and twenty nine high street please for review.
I'm telling you, it will be Christmas again before we all know it, I was walking through the store the other day and had to stop and blink a few times because one isle was already putting out fall and Halloween and being the fall lover I am, wouldn't dare complain but I just didn't figure it would be that time yet but I guess August is coming up shortly.
I hope you have a blast on your trip and enjoy the rest of your summer break

    1. Hey there Jessica!! Thank you! I will be happy to review those for you.

I KNOW! I was just in Hobby Lobby and saw all the Christmas stuff coming out and the Halloween/Thanksgiving has been out for ages. So crazy. But I am ready to start collecting for fall melting. My favorite time of year to melt.

Thank you! It will go by fast I know. I am loving your ghost guy by the way. Does he have a name?

  5. A name, you know, I haven't even thought of a name. Probably should get on that! I just love him so much that I am thinking of using him in other projects. So glad others are enjoying him too <3
I just love me some fall. Oddly enough I usually don't melt fall melts too awful much throughout the year but I have been craving those comforting melts this year non-stop. Especially what I still have of my SGA Cider Lane Whipped cream *YUM* I have heard that Purple Fox has a really good Cider lane blend that she has already let out this last preorder that a friend of mine got her hands on and of course that tempted me to be on the look out this fall when I heard of it.
Being that I haven't bought wax in ages, I'm sure I will be ready to buy come august.
