CBE Ceramics: Custom Planter

I have a precious to share with you today. Remember my ramblings about Cate Be and how cool I think she is? She sells pottery too. I posted about my first ever Cate Be piece, which was a wee lil pot. You can read that post here. CBe Ceramics opened up for custom orders on April 1st (which is how I got this guy) and will again in October. You message Cate right away when she opens for customs and let her know what you would be interested in. If she feels it would be a good collaboration she will make it for you. I have about five different pieces that she makes as desires of mine but I really wanted a night sky mushroom planter from her and she made that dream come true in spades.

When something arrives from Cate it is a wonderful experience. She wraps her treasure well and includes a hand written note along with rose petals, a lavender bunch, crystals and a tea. I happened to get my first ever mushroom cocoa this time and I am smitten. That stuff tastes amazing.

On to the planter! It is a nice medium sized planter that has a drainage hole and sits on three legs. The artwork is pure magic and that glaze makes me swoony. The rich blues and greens are brindled and mottled and set off the natural clay hue of the art and the saturated red of the mushroom caps to perfection.

I mean would ya just look at that?!

I am as happy as a clam to have this beauty. A resurrection fern is living in there right now. The girls and I recused him from getting weeded out of our landscaping bed. I love ferns. They call this the resurrection fern because it can lose up 97% of its water content in a drought, shriveling up and turning brown, only to fill out and become green again during a rain. These babies are all over the oak trees in Florida. Or in flower beds. The resurrection fern was taken up in the space shuttle Discovery in 1997 to watch it resurrect itself at zero gravity. Ok, enough geeky plant info. He is cute. He stays. I figure it will be hard to kill.

Guess what? I picked up my first Cate Be mug last Friday. I am so excited!!! If you ordered a custom piece what would you get?

    1. Thank you Sarah! I kind of want to bring it inside but then any plants I bring inside die. Maybe I can just keep a simple herb in it. :-)

  3. I love everything about this darling piece. I think I'm tempted to try and snag a planter for myself--remind me when customs come around if you don't already see one with me before then kind lady:)
