Olfactif Artisan Perfume Subscription: May

May's theme is "In Bloom," celebrating all things floral. This makes me incredibly happy, as I love a good floral perfume. And there are some great ones in here.

Olfactif runs $18 a month and includes three high quality artisan fragrances.

Scarlet Larkspur by Inkek- Notes Include: Claret wine, red currant, morello cherry, scarlet larkspur, saffron, amyris wood, tonka bean, Bourbon vanilla.
Multi-hued shafts of ephemeral evening sunlight filter down through Redwoods and land gently on sweet wine held in the belly of crystal glasses. Tart red fruits fanned out on a plate, wafting their nectar to the bees. An intimate picnic embraced by woods and dotted with wild flowers. This scent feels like the last fading fiery darts of sunset on the scarlet larkspur, ephemeral but intense. The sillage is medium with a nice longevity. A unique floral that is more tart and spicy than sweet.

Lime, Gardenia & Benzoin by Dame Perfumery Scottsdale- Notes Include: Lime, bergamot, grapefruit, black pepper, marigold, gardenia, white pepper, honeysuckle, jasmine, orange flower, muguet, carnation, tuberose, ylang-ylang, hyacinth, rose, benzoin, tolu, musk.
A stunning gardenia. Pure white velvet petals with electric green waxy leaves. We had gardenia bushes in the yard growing up and Mom would harvest her beloved blooms and float them in shallow bowls of water throughout the home in late spring/early summer and this perfume captures that memory in spades. A gardenia bush in Florida bloom. Just like the flower, it starts stark and unblemished and softens and browns at the edges as it fades. It is not stretch to say this is my favorite, most realistic gardenia perfume to date.

Dirty Flower Factory by Kerosene Fragrances- Notes Include: Jasmine, rose, orange blossom, peppercorn, chili pepper, sandalwood, ambergris, musk.
The jasmine and rose leap off the skin, as if propelled by the peppercorn. Forget essences and oils, these bouquets are made from heavy syrups that ooze and entrap the concentrated heart of the flower for my sniffing pleasure. The drydown allows the rose and jasmine to leave its sticky traces behind while pulling the sandalwood and ambergris forward, a touch suggestive and come hither. The sillage is medium to large and lasting power is several hours. The juice, bottle and name create the trifecta in perfume coveting. And I covet it.

Yet another box of fragrant bliss. I really want to purchase the last two fragrances in larger quantities. How do you feel about floral perfumes? Do you have a favorite specific flower scent? Are you on the hunt for one?

  2. I'm not a huge floral fan, but Lime, Gardenia & Benzoin sounds amazing! I have a vial of Chanel Gardenia from a Perfumed Court sampler that I wear when I want to feel especially classy :D And of course SL Fleurs de Citronnier is a fave.
